First of all it's important to determine what a successful gambler is. For me it's a bit hard to answer such a general question, because there are different so many different types of gamblers. Is it someone who gamblers regularly and makes money from it? Does it have to be his main source of income? Or is just someone who was lucky one time and managed to win a big jackpot? So far I haven't met anybody who uses gambling as his main source of income. If I ever meet someone who gambles 5-6 times per week and makes good money from it then I would call him successful and not an addict. But how likely is this going to be? Casino games are designs so that the player losses longterm, I don't think anybody can constantly win against the casino and make a reliable source of income from it. So if someone gambles a few nights per week and manages to get lucky from time to time winning big jackpots then I would also call him successful. As long as he is in full control of his gambling habits and making money from it, I would call him successful and not an addict. The problem of addiction come when someone can't control himself anymore and his losses are accumulating rapidly without the chance to stop and step away from the casino.

Addiction will somewhat have a bad effect on you or the people around you, like if you've been losing a lot of money and you are in debt, but if you're a successful gambler, let's say they are really earning lots of money from it, then they are not referred to as addicted because we know too much is really bad, meaning if they gamble too much, then for sure they aren't successful now, so the possibility that they are just going to gamble is a sure win, like in sports betting, or it is like they will bet in their favor, like they play smartly, though they spend a lot of time on gambling, they are able to control themselves, like they won't chase their losses.

We are all addicts... I feel I need to share a definition:

Addiction is when you have a strong physical or psychological need or urge to do something or use something.

So, too much of anything is not a good thing! But that "too much" is not the same for everyone, what is a lot for someone can be almost nothing for others. And that's something we all learn through life, only now that I'm close to 40 I see how crazy I was as a teenager and in my 20s. In my point of view, successful in gambling can be interpreted differently. It can be related to the result (profit/rich) and it can be related to how the gamblers deal with anything they do in gambling. I do not quite agree with you and believe that gambling addiction appears even during small winnings because at this time there is a release of dopamine in the blood. well, in this case it actually seems contradictory because there are no successful gamblers unless successful gamblers win big and the winning money is used to set up their own casino.
for the successful gambler to me it's just an impossible story because there will always be more lose than win. but as a successful gambler setting up his own casino he is truly a smart gambler taking chances to earn daily and I don't think it's an addiction.

I've seen successful poker players, one is actually a friend of mine and yes you could say they are also kind of addicted to the game but not to the extent that they cannot sleep over it anymore once they lose. Now, he only plays weekly, and if there's a tournament that will happen. But before that, he goes to the poker room three times a week and I also joined him sometimes. Let's say it's like a training session for him but he was not successful back then, he just keeps on losing although it ain't much money because he doesn't play per table but in small tournaments only where the entrance fee is fixed.
Now, I can see him sharing his recent championship wins and he goes home with lots of money.
Is he a gambling addict? Yes, kind of. I doubt he will stop that hobby of his because he also made friends with most of the players of the poker place.

In addition, the word success and addiction has two different picture and different phases, and when you talk about success is more positive and addiction carries a lot of negativity and very sure that people that are successful in gambling are not addicts looking at an addict and a revenge trader are almost similar making a decision in respect of there emotion not just a decision but a reckless one, and been successful involves discipline especially when you want to gamble just one greedy decision can ruin all forever so having an understanding of the two matters a lot.

Maybe they experience that condition but they successfully combat those negative traits and became successful on what they are doing today. They just develop a good discipline for their selves that's why they are successful on their gambling careers. I would agree with this although the reality though is that successful gamblers,the ones we see in different streaming services should be addicted because they keep streaming and streaming very often,sure they get money out of the streams they do but they also lose a lot of money from what I have seen in the long run.Now I don't know if they are paid by the casinos they promote (most likely they are) which makes them successful gamblers as they are playing with other people money,in this case from the casino they promote and this is a great way to be successful,whatever they win they keep it themselves and ask for more money to promote further the casinos that they offer money to do so.So yes in most cases successful gamblers are addicted.

I assume you're mentioning successful gambler as someone who became rich by gambling alone. If that is right the society will not see them as addicts but celebrate them for how much lucky they are.

Addiction has nothing to do with the success, even when someone is doing great in gambling is obsessed with gambling and can't focus on others it's bad for them and success in such thing can change overnight so it's always good to stay neutral.

I mean they take gambling seriously and not just gamble for entertainment. There are gamblers who are treating gambling like their daily job and some are earning a lot and that’s the time we can call you a successful gambler if you are able to control your finances and keep on winning in gambling.

If gambling has become a profession, i.e. your regular source of income, it can probably be called an addiction. You can't do without betting on sports or poker. Otherwise, you will be out of money. An addict cannot control his gambling activities, hence he is never satisfied with his gambling outcomes. A successful gambler has control over his gambling life and knows when to stop or continue because he has a preplanned expected outcome. So he achieves success because he has a goal he wants to attain. But a gambling addict will never be content with his win because he has no control over his habits.
