There are gamblers whose only goal is to have fun; others become addicts because they let gambling consume them, so they became addicts because they were driven by greed; and others use it as stress relief. Gambling is just that.

Everyone has a choice and goal to become an addict and gambler. If you want to be a gambler, you should make gambling just for entertainment and to have fun, but if you want to be an addict, just play without limits until you go bankrupt, I'm sure everyone wants to win when gambling, that's why mindset plays a role in choosing the direction of our gambling, it all depends on our own self-control.

So far I only gamble for entertainment and looking for fun so I don't choose to become an addict because it will destroy what I have whether it's money or family or even work, the more I become an addict the more I will lose, but if I want to be a gambler I will play and enjoy the game without having to feel like you are missing anything.

Every individual has a choice. You wish to enjoy gambling? Great! You want to go down the path of addiction? Not so great... However, that is a decision, correct? First is, it is not even right at all to take or consider gambling as a job, so, to this is say that whoever is addicted to gambling is addicted to gambling, it doesn't matter if the person takes gambling as a job or not, gambling is not even a profession, why should someone in all the professions all over the world choose to gamble as a profession? this is absolutely not right if I'm asked.

And yes, there indeed can be someone addicted gamblers who are really successful, but the ones I've seen or come in physical contact with did not actually make the money from gambling per say, they have built and established businesses that make millions of dollars or whatever currency for them, they just spend their time and money on gambling as a way for them to have fun.

If someone is successful in professional gambling then we cannot call him an addicted gambler because everyone should be focused on their work. A love of work is also a good quality. Let us be honest, a successful gambler is one who has managed to have an incredible streak of good luck and has been able to retire from gambling having those net positive numbers in their site. That person is not addicted because knows when was supposed to stop and also it is successful, due to them having "defeated the casino", it could be anyone who buys and lottery ticket or spin a slots and yet has a minimum of knowledge on what they are doing.

On the other hand, someone who is addicted will continue to put their money at risk in detriment of their own financial stability.
Having goals helps but it is not completely a must-have in order for others to call one a "successful" gambler.

exactly. you said something very reasonable and I fully support your opinion when you say that a successful gambler is a gambler who is lucky enough to win big and then decides to stop and leave gambling to use his winnings for business or something else that earns regularly without having to risk anything big like gambling and this is pure successful gambler.

I think this your perspective isn't a bad one as this could literally the main difference between an addicted gambler and a successful one, they have a big variation in knowledge both within and outside gambling but sometimes addicts could be termed successful when they happen to be experiencing a series of wins consecutively over a period of time, so at this point it could be said that success at gambling could be relative.
