It was thought to be a easy walk for Leverkusen but the Azeri team game a tough challenge even in the german fields.
Leverkusen did dominated the first half but were unlucky and well defended from Qarabag defense and couldn't score. Qarabag on second half scored two impressive goals, the second one being limited to 10 men in early 2nd half. Leverkusen made an amazing come back but honestly they didn't perform well in two matches against Qarabag. They nearly lost in both matches and only can equalize the first match in very last minutes. It seems to me that the match was ruined by the red card, it was inappropriate in that case, although I am not a referee and it is not for me to judge what should have been in that case, a red or yellow card, but the fact that it determined the outcome of the match is for sure.

There is only one word that we should say for all Bayern Leverkusen  performance in that match: Fantastic...!
before I had thought that it would be a difficult game, and it turned out that what I thought would happen if like the first leg Bayern Leverkusen had to fall behind a team like Qarabag, now Leverkusen has secured a place in the last 8,  But I think even we should take our hats off to all the struggles of the Qarabag squad that maybe if they hadn't been shown a red card then maybe we would have seen a different result today.

What a match. True, at first I thought this would be their first defeat, but after the Qarabag player received a red card, Bayer Leverkusen was able to dramatically progress to the last eight and made Leverkusen still unbeaten this season. This is an extraordinary achievement for Xabi Alanso.

Honestly I believe both of Sporting and Benfica have a quite difficult work to do today. Benfica had really big difficulties against Rangers home. Rangers got ahead 2 times before it ended in a 2-2 draw you know.

About Sporting, their job is also quite difficult after getting a 1-1 draw home. Atalanta are a quite strong competitor. Maybe there is some decline in their Serie A performance but they are still a powerful team.

It's crazy how Leverkusen refused to lose and get knocked out of the European league, they didn't give up one bit even in the minute of injury time to ensure their progress towards the quarter-finals. Since the first leg, Qarabag has been a serious obstacle for Leverkusen and even though they knew last night they were playing at Leverkusen's home ground, Qarabag did not relax their attacks in the slightest. They were actually ahead of Leverkusen by 2 goals before Leverkusen managed to turn the situation around to make it 3-2. Patrick Schick became the MVP figure in this match thanks to the brace he scored in the 90+ minute which put Leverkusen on the path to winning the European League title this season.

I was thinking about what would happen if Leverkusen were eliminated last night and it wouldn't be that exciting considering that with their consistent performance of being undefeated and even being a candidate to win this season, it would be very disturbing in a more tense round. Luckily, Xabi Alonso had a brilliant strategy despite the pressing situation and they did it very well.

In other matches, even though Brighton won the second leg, they were still eliminated after the first leg was beaten by Roma with a difference of 4 goals. I tell you this, they Bayern Leverkusen has Champions mentality and they have done that game after game. It was same way they drew the game from behind during the first leg of the knock out stage, thanks to the wise introduction of Patrik Schick who has helped them qualify into the quarter finals.
