I mentioned that it was good content. And I left my first record the other day, I think it was two days ago.
I had to rest one day, 120 push-ups are a number I am used to but I was a little weak, I waited for my chest muscles to recover so yesterday.
Today, I did 25x4 push-ups for the continuity of the challenge, I didn't push it any further. And when I started doing push-ups, I decided to warm up.
I stretched my wrists especially, then my chest and shoulders in a few poses and started working.

which makes me not want to do any.
Reporting for yesterday and today! I have moved up to 10's, started each day first with
5 and then on to reps of 10. Definitely wouldnt have been able to do 10's when I first started
so definitely progress!
Part of the reason that I try to do pushups every single day, even when I don't want to do them, is because I realize that if I take too much of a break, then it is going to be more difficult to do the pushups later on.. .. so maybe you could consider trying to do 10 pushups per day no matter what. @l99l - You made a couple of mistakes in your pushup report. 1) Your total number of pushups should have had been 220 rather than 100, since you should add your earlier results in order to arrive at your actual total. 2) Your date format is not correct. If you want DirtyKeyboard's script to read your date, then you should write it like this: 2024-09-20. DirtyKeyboard had recently revised his script so that the script does something like this: if the script cannot read the date in the pushup report, then it will use the date of your post to determine the date in terms of the UTC time that you posted. |

Ah you are right actually, definitely taking a break for a few days and more makes it difficult to get back into a routine and obviously messes up the routine which was built up for a few days. I will try your idea of trying to fo something every day, see how that goes.... Its about making and building a routine and it doesnt necessarily have to be 100 per day initially or for a while. Probably the important thing is to build a proper routine of doing at least something everyday then build the reps. |

I haven’t thought about the cold weather and how that would affect my push-ups. It’s still swim season out here in the desert. That is something for me to ponder. Its about making and building a routine and it doesnt necessarily have to be 100 per day initially or for a while. Probably the important thing is to build a proper routine of doing at least something everyday then build the reps. Hopefully a kind of forcing yourself no matter what to do just a few pushups each day (such as a bare minimum of 10) can help you to get into the right kind of psychology.. even if you might have some days that you ONLY end up doing 10 pushups for the totality of that day. One of the dynamics that I have personally found is that once I start doing the pushups that I did not want to do, the whole experience ends up not being as bad as I had been thinking that it was going to be, so part of the dynamic seems to be just getting started and then sometimes if I had ONLY planned to do 15 or 20 pushups for the whole set, then after I start doing the pushups within that set, I begin to realize that I am able to do more pushups than I had anticipated that I was going to be able to do. |

and two weeks later I've started up again, cant believe its been that long.
Have been really busy with no time for push ups, and its been cold in the mornings
which makes me not want to do any.
Reporting for yesterday and today! I have moved up to 10's, started each day first with
5 and then on to reps of 10. Definitely wouldnt have been able to do 10's when I first started
so definitely progress!

When the weather is cold, you will definitely be very lazy about doing activities or doing sports such as push ups. Because basically it has been ingrained in our minds that if we do activities or exercise in cold weather it will feel bad. In fact, doing push ups in cold weather can be said to be quite enjoyable, because it means the body will be warmer and of course the cold weather will not be felt as much. Apart from that, what I know and have experienced is that doing push ups in cold weather makes the body feel more energetic and less tired. So when the weather is cold, I personally feel more energetic and the intensity of my push ups actually increases. Therefore, I invite you to remain enthusiastic about doing push ups even though the weather is cold. Because you need to remember, the whispers that say that doing push ups in cold weather will feel uncomfortable, are just thoughts in your mind. In fact, push ups in cold weather feel better and can also save our body energy. Therefore, it's a good idea to keep doing push ups even if the weather is cold, as long as you are healthy and not busy. Additionally, currently the price of bitcoin is at $63.2K. Hi JJG, yes, you are mostly correct about the study, which doesn't surprise me. But you missed one point: someone who is able to ramp up push-ups like you did and are still doing, is positively correlated with the decreased incidence for cardiovascular diseases. This is not surprising to me. It means that your body is still able to ramp up physical capacity. This would not be the case for someone who is severely limited due to health shortcomings. But let's be more concrete: if someone told me that JJG ramped up push-ups from 50 to 1000 per day over the course of some months and that JJG is going to compete with a person already affected by CVD, who would I place my bet on for certain hypothetical competitions? There is some truth to it although - as always in science - there are outliers and often a number of people that fulfill all the markers to be considered part of the tail of the distribution.
Other than that, my fellow push-uppers, I don't have too many push-ups to add here as I am currently ramping up my sessions in the gym. By the way, @JJG, are you intending to hit the gym again? I don't know your age, but it is almost always a good thing to go for it. As you said that you aren't doing much besides the gym, given your persistence, I think you could transform your physical capacity by a lot! But anyway, everybody has certain backpacks to carry and sometimes time doesn#t allow for all the things we wish to accomplish.
