No matter how big a club is or how strong its squad, if they experience a downturn, they can't avoid it. All they can do is bounce back quickly. I agree that Real Madrid weren't that bad last season, but I can't deny that their decline was also very noticeable.

Xabi needs time to understand the squad he has, and even though he's been competing, I don't think that's enough. He's also likely to continue changing his squad by bringing in new players or selling existing ones. We'll see the results this season when it starts. And I'll have to watch a few matches first to see how they perform.
