 I think that they are not just good enough to win any major trophy this season because so many ugly things has already unfold, and the departure of xabi Alonso still left a bitter taste to how most fan and pundit view this current real madrid team, and their choice of his replacement shows that they value player power than winning major trophies under a manager that commands respect.

Firstly there is nothing as easy match in football and also i dont think Arsenal's fixtures are gifts, its all their doing for qualifying first in the league phase, but i dont want to dwell on it. I think Arsenal needs to work hard if they want to go far or win the champions league,  because every teams comes with its iwn difficulty, although on papers the fixtures looks easy, but i dont judge football that way, because anything can happen in a football match, so Arsenal has to be on their best and i believe they know that already.

If we can trace back when Madrid and Manchester City clashes in the CL it took Anceloti extra effort to pull up a victory. Pep used to be his biggest night mere back then. Now the story has changed and it is Álvaro Arbeloa who is managing Madrid  a very young coach without as much experience as Pep.  I don't see him pulling up victory in both legs. This might be another declining season for Madrid. If they will succeed it will require external hands doing the magic.

They have the right players; the weak link will be the managerial team. I have so much respect for young coaches and some of them have performed very well. An example is Vincent Kompany, Xabi Alonso and others. Álvaro Arbeloa seems not to have the expertise to manage the current Real Madrid team. He might not be able to match the tactical prowess of Pep Guardiola. Mbappe's injury will be another problem when they meet the Cityzens. I know Madrid fans would be hoping that the French player becomes fit for the match.

Álvaro would lead the club till the end of the season. The club would have to put more effort into it so that they can win at least a trophy by the end of the season. It will be painful for a club with world-class players to go trophyless this season. The new coach would have to overhaul the club because there are some bad eggs in there.

Not really, did you watch Manchester City last match success holding draw by Nottingham Forest in Premier League? can't comparison yet although Madrid has inconsistent performance because Manchester City has the same position regarding can't consistent at top performance. Both teams have crucial position right now must be focus for domestic league and Champion League, in domestic league both Manchester City and Madrid have remaining few points with top standings position but next middle week will fight for winning the first leg match.

What are you talking about? It's a do or die round for both teams. With less hope for the title in the respective domestic leagues. Real Madrid and Manchester City will look to try and at least grab a UEFA champion's League trophy

Real Madrid-Manchester City is of course the most waited matchup. Real Madrid aren't even favoured by bookmakers at home in the first leg. I also am not sure about them in Arbeloa's control.

I even doubt the last champion PSG in this round. Their Champions League performance hasn't impressed me so far. They are still struggling. Chelsea might surprise us maybe who knows. They already beat them once in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Sacking Alonso was a premature decision, but apart from that I think Real Madrid is just not as strong as in other seasons. Their midfield is the weak part in their play and it usually was one of the best midfields you could find in football. The match between Real Madrid and Man City will always be an exciting one to watch.  But this time, neither of them is at their best, and so it is quite difficult to predict which of them will win the match in the round of 16. In the first leg, Real Madrid has the advantage of playing at home, but unfortunately, their  condition is not really good. Mbappe's injury has not healed, nor has Jude Bellingham's, and I think without these two key players, it will greatly  affect Real Madrid's performance.

I have no belief that Arbeloa will be able to do such considerable improvements with his players within short time. While two direct clashes with Manchester City in UEFA Champions League will mostly decide this season as failure or not for Real Madrid and will decide the coach position of Arbeloa. If Real Madrid have to end their adventure at round of 16, I believe that 99% Arbeloa will be sacked immediately after the end of round of 16.

If Real Madrid had gotten a better head coach to replace Xabi Alonso, they would have made a good decision but I agree with you, Arbeloa is not at the same quality level of Xabi Alonso, so this decision is truly terrible. With Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid still have risk of losing matches, losing titles but generally they would have better and more consistent performances than with Arbeloa. Most importantly with Xabi Alonso, they will have a better coach for big matches like upcoming two matches with Manchester City in UEFA Champions League round of 16.

Anyone who says City is a little better than Madrid because some of Madrid’s key players are injured, I can respect that. But if someone says City is better when both teams have a full squad, I just can’t agree. If we look at the last 5 meetings between these two teams, Madrid has actually beaten City more often. So for me, it’s not really realistic when someone compares Madrid and City like that without a solid reason.
