I have not been following up the women competition, i watched highlights of last matches that has already been played and i saw that fans are not even much on the stadium, why is women competition always like this, majority of people don’t even take it serious why is it always like that? I know this are the questions some women may always ask. For me the reason is because men professional football has had over a century to build loyal fan bases but women’s professional football is much younger in many countries and has not built loyal fans and lastly cultural attitudes. This are the reasons why attraction is not seen in women tournaments.
This is just how women football is and you can't compare it with Men's football. Even in Europe that's how it is, you don't see a lot of supporters in women football which I think is majorly due to the intensity of their game it's usually not as interesting as Men's game. You're right Men football has been in existence longer than theirs and has already built a strong fan base. Most investor prefer to invest in Men football and all those things makes it more interesting as well. I think compared to before their game has even advanced and more interesting than it used to be some years back. In a few years from now their game will keep advancing and soon we will see more people watching their games. Yeah women football is still growing, so we can expect the ticket sales not to be as much as the male counterparts. European football leagues average a 1000-5000 fans on a regular match though the continental competitions like the Women World Cup and even the Women Euros pull a lot of crowds. The WAFCON is still doing well atleast some matches have sufficient crowd. I think African fans also don’t like going to the stadium to watch match especially when it’s not in their country. People don’t travel for the women competitions as much as they do with the men’s own.

When a coach is satisfied with what they always get at every WAFCON to introduce new players always become difficult for them and they wouldn't believe that it will help them, although I think it was on the goalkeeper aspects the coach did something because is like they added Comfort Erhabor and Fatima Oloko as there new goalkeepers this year and that was good but they should have also do something on there attacking midfielder because is weak. The team cannot be reshuffle now but definitely after this tournament there would be some work to be done on the club because this squad might not win WAFCON next year.
You are right. When a coach leads a particular set of players to win trophy several times, they feel too relaxed and comfortable with the that current set of players forgetting to groom new player's that would take over from them when they are no longer active as they used to be. These current squad have been on existence for quite a long time now and are still very much active though but still the coach needs to bring in new players. Just imagine what is happening as Asumpta Plumpter did not feature this year's tournament and see how our defense is shaking and that prompted Malawi victory over Eagles their first match. If Eagles had have somebody to take over from Plumpter, I believe Malawi would not have been able to equalise that match. Edit. Even if the coach has won many WAFCON but he is not too experience because of this things we are seeing in the super falcon because all this new players issues would have been something he would have done since because the super falcon wasn't only going to be this squad forever so definitely this would have also help them to see what the mixture of young and old players in the Super falcon will do and besides they are always 25 players in the tournament so actually if they had two young players from there forward, midfield and defense I think what happened with Malawi wouldn't have occurred.

From what I have been seeing in this ongoing Wafcon I can say that, there is much improvement in terms of the quality and standards of play. Because from the beginning of this tournament we have been seeing upsets coming especially from the teams that were considered small. Because countries like Nigeria and South Africa has been humbled and is just looking at winning their remaining game so they can make it to the knockout stage of this competition.
Hahaha...they are upsets, indeed, and could be very annoying at the same time, judging by how people had banked on some people with their money but ended up being disappointed and lost. Well, I don't think these upsets would continue, and that might not a saving grace for those countries that won initially; the comeback, if they meet, will be different. If you look at the two matches, you'll realised that it was the first matches for Nigeria and South Africa in the tournament. That is what they get for being too relaxed and undermining the opponents. You could see they had two things in common: trailing the opponents behind after two goals. That's what they paid for their egos.

I also noticed the lack of much attendance to these games. I mean this is a time where there aren't much competitions from the men's games that some would use as an excuse to not turn up for the women competition but I guess it all boils down to lack of funding and less attention being paid to them. The women's part of football is to me, still in it's baby stage and enough publicity will go a long way for them. Today the Super Falcons play Egypt and it will be in their best interests if they don't make the mistakes they did when they met Malawi and Zambia.

You don’t have to be surprised, Women football aren’t that much followed in Africa, I believe the Women World Cup next year wouldn’t be this manner, I have been watching some games on Empty Stadium and I have never been surprised about that In Africa Football, you are surprised about Women African Cup of Nations, have you seen CAF Champions League Final being played on an empty stadium I was surprised and shocked, there was few spectators watching the game in the stadium, African football was trying to make a growth in the last AFCON hosted, before Senegal and Morocco made a mess of African Football.

By the end of today we shall know the victors and losers of the group C. Those who will be joining the likes of Morocco, Algeria, Ivory Coast and South African Women in the next round. My bets are on Nigeria and Zambia to win and Nigeria tops the group. This will place them on a good path to the finals though it’s not always easy. Zambia’s Barbra Banda is already topping the goals chart with four goals. Our Super Falcons have not really woken up to the challenge. I think they should start firing with Egypt, Asisat Oshoala is ageing and her performance have reduced too, a younger generation should be introduced.

Asisat Oshoala is ageing and her performance have reduced too, a younger generation should be introduced.
There are younger players on the team who are doing well too; they just need to step up more and not leave everything to the expertise of Asisat, who is now 31 years old. There are players like Ajibade who is younger (26) and should deliver more; Jennifer Echegini who can do more at her age (25); etc. I think there is good age distribution on the team; players just need to be more responsible with their role and not transfer responsibility. The game with Egypt is in a few hours (9 PM); we will either praise the team or criticize them.

The poor attendance might also be connected to poor economic conditions. Morocco is going through serious economic problems that fans might be more interested in surviving than watching the WAFCON. We saw about 60,000 people entering the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla. Anyway, it is normal to have low attendance in female competitions at this stage. Semi-finals and final games usually have a larger turnout of fans.

Surprised you said, the question is, do people watch women football like that of men no, and that is because it's not been taken serious, i do not think that it because of lack of funding as you hinted rather it is because people don't like to give their time to that. When you talk about publicity, then question arises from there, who will publicize the women football? Is it supposed to be the men or the women that are to do that? Does that not imply that the women that are suppose to cheer up their genders are not also interested in doing that and what could be the reason for that. When I checked on flascore, I noticed that there is no odd given to the super falcons, instead 26 odd is given to Egypt to win and 13 odd for both teams to draw, it means that the super falcons are the favorite to win.

There's just a difference between the super eagles and the super falcons. Honestly I don't enjoy watching the ladies play cause it's boring. Except they have an important game play like tournaments, I don't think I can spend time following up their seasons or stuffs like that. Most reason people don't show show interest in the females sport is that they don't put up an interesting show. They games always looks like low efforts and even some females don't enjoy watching their own gender playing cause it's boring. Though we have some good female players that aren't entirely bad. But people just prefer watching mens football because of it's years of entertainment in the world of football compared to that of the ladies..

Men is not the only reason the men's competition has got more attention than the women's, neither is it the reason the men are been paid far higher than the women, one major problem i see with the women's competition that has been given the low turn ups i believe is poor PR, the competition doesn't seem like it gets enough PR to get peoples attention to it, sponsorship and the attendance for ticket sales are another reason they are earning lesser than the men's competition. if they happen to get some more sponsorship deals from bigger brands, the chances are very much there that the competitions will get so much attention enough that it will bring a lot of persons who will want to follow up the games and watch it because they will see money making opportunities around it. People takes the men competition more seriously because they make more money from it due to the attention it gets as compared to that of the women competition, this also affects the players earnings too.

Women's football was never supposed to exist; it was one of the biggest sports frauds; and financially, it is a burden because it generates nothing near to what men's football does. Watch them once and you'll buy another ticket. I think they are just using it to encourage girl child and to show their talent. But the management of that unit women football federation collect big amount of money but present poor Media Coverage and poor sponsorship and use the remaining balance to enrich themselves. If they were providing quality presentation of Media Coverage, hire buses and sponsor fans to watch and give good orientation to encourage fans to watch those matches, people would have been interested to watch it. The ongoing WAFCON, whenever I watch their matches, I sober because I will see nobody in the stadium that is watching the matches except few fans that follow the teams. The big problem is from the management. Even women prefer men's football cause women's football is boring and overly dramatic. ______

I asked some few people around me in the neighborhood about the tournament that is going on, especially women since it is a women game, non notice that such is going on but in the world cup they were coming to my place to watch matches. As for the Nigeria match today, it is logical. If Egypt beat Nigeria and Malawi beat Zambia, both Nigeria and Egypt will be disqualified so what is on the ground now is for Zambia to win Malawi and Nigeria to win Egypt. Super Falcons knows so they will do well to play. If anyone is interested to watch the match, you can click this link to watch it on the exact time. Afrosport TV

Is it possible to have over 5.5 goal in Egypt - Nigeria game? It's currently at x3 odds.
Nigeria has not been on a goal-scoring spree in this WAFCON; there has not been any game in this WAFCON where they have scored three goals, making me doubt their ability to have a high-scoring game. Both teams will likely be more on the defensive to make sure they don't concede a lot of goals. An over 5.5 is extreme even though I like to bet on goals.

Their last two games were against better teams; I wouldn't say the same about this Egypt side that conceded 6 goals to the Zambia team we won with a Red card. I'm tempted to go in. We'd see a more open game; Nigeria would be all attack, hoping to win by big margins, whereas Egypt would be searching for their first win before departing the tournament; they have nothing to lose, so why would they sit back?

The Super Falcons didn't win Malawi, Malawi won the Super Falcons 3-2, and the Super Falcons struggled against them because they have a good team.
I never said the Super Falcons won, don't get me wrong. I said they struggled, the margins were close, and both teams gave their biggest shot, in the struggle for winning, Malawi gave the best and deserved the victory. My whole point is that the Super Falcons should not relent on giving it their best shot, because Egypt has lost twice, it doesn't mean they can get the win too easily. This was your exact words: "But the Super Falcons struggled to defeat Malawi in the first leg of the tournament," and if that isn't enough to convince you that you actually said that the Super Falcons won Malawi in their first leg in the Women's African of Nations I would advise you to go through your comment again so that you can see that I didn't get you wrong. You shouldn't worry yourself about Super Falcons winning Egypt because they are getting all three points in that match, your concern should be how Malawi will win or draw with Zambia for Super Eagles to finish second in group C.

Even me i have not been following up the Women's African of Nations since it started and i am not even bother to watch highlights of the games that has been played in the competition, plenty of people do not take women's football seriously like men's football, and i believe there has been poor ticket sell which caused low attendance. There is a big gap in men's salary and women's salary, so i do not think men's professional football staying for century and build loyal fan bases is the reason people take it seriously more than women's professional football, i believe men's professional football is being taking seriously because it involves men nothing more.
I've not watched a single game in this WAFCON so far but as the competition progresses I will build interest to watch the teams that are able to progress to semi finals, although I'm getting updates about the games but it's not the same as watching them live. What I can add about why female football is generally not being taken seriously like the men's football is that the majority of women don't have interest in sports, if they do they will be going to watch live games and go to their stadiums to watch female football. As for this WAFCON in Morocco I'm not impressed with the low turnout of fans to watch the games in their stadiums, from picture updates the stadiums are almost empty which shows a lack of interest among football fans to support female football in that country. However I'm wishing the super Falcons all the best today as they face Egypt, they need a win to go into the next round and assuming I'm betting on the game I would put my money on our super Falcons.

Don't get me wrong, but check it out, in the European settings, women football is quite a catch, people turn up for that and I'm not saying because they garner attention it's still better than the men's football, no. All I'm saying is that the same way people watch the men, a little support would go a long way for the women too.

Egypt vs Nigeria and Malawi vs Zambia just finished playing their first 45 minutes, and Nigeria is winning Egypt 2-1 while Zambia is winning Malawi 2-0. For the Super Falcons to qualify to the next stage of the competition, we were hoping for Malawi to make Zambia drop points but as Malawi is currently winning 2-0 which seem our plan wouldn't work out, now the Super Falcons hope of continuing in this competition is for Zambia to win Malawi with two goals difference and for Super Falcons to also win Egypt with two goals difference in order for the Super Falcons to use goal difference and finish ahead of Malawi in group C.
