In my opinion, instead of scouting abroad for players, we should focus on our domestic league players and home grown talent. I’m pretty sure that there is someone are people as skilful as Jay Jay Okocha who are playing football somewhere in university or the streets.

Trust me in the local League there are lots of talented players, the Coach have lot of scout that go through the local League to find exceptional players to bring to the national team, why I'm saying so is because I can remember a case of Sunday MBA, who came from the local League with lots of experience to come and support the super Eagles, is his goal that made us win the tournament some years back, that guy was a true example of what our local League represents, so as a coach it is good to experiment the local league players.

Normally taken players with international experience will give the team some edges , but that doesn’t stop the fact that there are still talented players that haven’t play international leagues , but when they have given the chance you will see the professionalism on them like that of the keeper you mentioned .

It is hard to scout players from local leagues to represent the national team. It is easy to judge players from their international experience with clubs playing abroad, it takes a certain level of experience to reach a professional level and maintain it at a top form, that is why managers coaching the national team will first observe international players over local players, and the same thing I will do if I'm allowed to coach the Super Eagles.

No body will blame any player who chooses a different nationality over any African country to represent in any game. The level of corruption in the continent is second to none and it's not like they're done with it. Seriously I don’t blame any of those players for doing that, if am in their position, I will have done the same thing also. Our system is just corrupt, and if you can’t pay some certain people, you might not be given the opportunity to play. Some players are talented, but they don’t have the opportunity to play, because players are not selected base on talent here, they are selected based on who you know.

Africa is not doing good generally because they still make their team selections a political talk, each leader handing over a name to the NFF on who to pick into the senior team or even the junior teams without considering such person's impact on the team and when the coach fails, he gets a sack.

When you are on street watching football, you going to see lots of talented players, but the most annoying part is that those players are not going to get the opportunity to play for the country, because they have no connection, and those that have connection don’t really have talent, and those are the people that they going to pick, that’s just the reason why African countries don’t really perform well.

Over the last 20 years, we've been getting most of our super Eagles players from overseas, it is mostly U-17, U-21  competitions that we've been using home based players, but when it comes to the super Eagles, they usually outsource them overseas. The funny thing is that, they literally don't give a single opportunity for home based players anymore, I remember the impact Sunday Mba had in 2013 when we won the last AFCON, that guy was home based player. The NFF is lazy, since they don't want to invest on the local League, they find it hard to scout for players there, instead they send scouts overseas to search for Nigerian players over there.

NFF doesn't have power on the democracy of the country so they're not the cause for the negligence of democracy in Nigeria but however their power and roles are mainly for the sports in the country and there corruption is as high as the politicians in Nigeria, other countries sports president is taking their role as a personal responsibility to forward their national teams so that they wouldn't fear any country in the world and by making sure every amount the government is spending brought a profit to the club but is contrary on our NFF because their actions for money  means that they took the role because of it.  

Of course NFF has nothing to do with the democracy of Nigeria, I would not respond to any other clause that relates to that so that I won't go off, but they are politicians, even if their functions is to oversee anything that concerns Nigeria sports, talking about corruption, do we think that most of the things that has happened, starting from the mismanagement of funds, that led to match allowances unattended to, that the government are unaware of all this thing going on in NFF,  once a sincere government releases money, they don't just sit down, the make sure that, what the money is released for, is been done.

You are using other countries as a scale of preference, my dear, it will be difficult for the NFF president to do that in Nigeria, it is unfortunate that NFF has made the country football, worth nothing.

It is true that the government is fully aware of the happenings but would not say a word till the people it matters decides to do the needful because the government structure here is "chop I chop" nobody interfers into another office matter as they all are given the opportunity to loot as much as they can without anybody been questioned for their actions. It is hard to scout players from local leagues to represent the national team.

It can be harder, but never to a level where it is impossible to scout local players. There is a method to go about it, and for any country really focused on giving local talent an opportunity, they can utilize the methods to give grassroots local talent attention.

A truth is that corruption has made it much more difficult for some of these local talents to be seen and even given an opportunity on the national stage because team slots are now being manipulated, and sometimes it occurs to me like coaches now make team selections under the influence of politics from people who are busy politicking and choosing candidates who they prefer to be in the national team from favoritism and not from their talents/fitness.

For football to get back on the top shelf for countries like Nigeria, politics do not need mingling with football.

This is a very biased analysis in comparing the potential in our local based players to our players that plays outside. If there's a plan to make npfl players a part of the super eagles squad, why's it so deficult in getting players by monitoring our local leagues?

The NFF is known for things like this, the foul play and embezzlement of players funds and allocations is one of the reasons why many growing talents don't accept to play for the national team and pay allegiance to the foreign countries. There has been reports about how they delayed the super falcons training kits until almost feel days to their final during the WAFCON tournament 2024/2025.

EFCC should ensure they do thorough investigation in this matter to serve as  a deterrent to others and the NFF should receive total overhaul and supervision henceforth. We always complain about government corruption in every thing but most times, individuals are more corrupt than the government.

South Africa has most of their players in the local league and despite going to the world cup, we saw how it ended and they still couldn't rank ahead of the Super eagles. International experience is very important so don't blame any coach who decides to base his selection on the leagues a person play in.

Don't get it wrong, it is actually not a case of EFCC wanting to have their own share of the allocation, the whole thing is that, President Tinubu wanted the NFF President to be sacked, this is because he was unable to qualify the super Falcons to the World cup and also the super Eagles, the poor performance of our football federation is the major cause to which the President of the federal Republic wanted the sack of the NFF President, however it is impossible to outrightly sack the NFF President because it is tenured based, and if you go ahead and sucking him it will attract FIFA's attention and Nigeria might be sanctioned, if you remember very well this issue happened sometimes passed when FIFA sanction Nigeria for politicizing issues concerning our football federation. So the best thing the president had to come with was to use EFCC and other sister agencies to try to blackmail the NFF president so he can voluntary resign on his own, let it not look like he was sacked.

It's not all about knowing how to kick the ball, the level of exposure differs and they create bigger threats to the opponents team. South Africa has most of their players in the local league and despite going to the world cup, we saw how it ended and they still couldn't rank ahead of the Super eagles. International experience is very important so don't blame any coach who decides to base his selection on the leagues a person play in.

What are you even saying? Did you remember the late former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi? He used more home based players when he was the national team coach and he achieved success by winning AFCON 2013 and since then Nigeria has not been able to win the AFCON again because they have been using majorly foreign based players.
     I want you to understand something, the home based players play with all their strength because they want to have a regular spot in the national team unlike the foreign based players who feels that because they play in Europe, they can always get a spot in the National team and they always play according to how they're treated in terms of payment of their allowances. If their allowances are not paid they won't perform well but the home based players doesn't care much because after all, how much are they paid by their clubs in the Nigeria League.
     Of course, foreign based players has more experience but home based players are more committed to the success and growth of the team and they also play to impress viewers and have a chance of being recognised by European teams.

There are pros and cons of both sides. In my opinion, the pros of using home based players are more than the cons. If international experience is the only argument for abroad based players, the team can at least reduce the numbers to a maximum of 3 abroad players. It wouldn’t hurt for the Super Eagles to try this strategy, after all the current pattern hasn’t yielded much success.
