Had the been Victor Osimhen is faking his injury as you want people to believe he would have played Galatasaray game against Trabzonspor on 19th of this month because he is an important player for Galatasaray and Galatasaray head coach will not rest him when he is fully fit for action. Victor Osimhen was injured when the super eagles were playing their world cup qualifying games which was one of the causes the super eagles did not qualify for the 2026 world cup, and now that Nigerian are playing their qualifying games for the African cup of nations Victor Osimhen is also injured, but i am hopeful what happened in the world cup qualification will not happen in the African cup of nations qualification, because Victor Osimhen will be ready to play for the super eagles in the next phase of the African cup of nations qualifiers.

Victoria Osimhen is one of the best player for Galatasaray and that is why is hard to see that their coach rest him whenever they have match, Osimhen use to go injure but but is not as sole people think of it. Some of people only see Osimhen performances less, but when it come that Super eagles have match his always put much efforts so that they can get out the best outcome, but I think the Nigeria players also have problems that’s they always failed to qualify for the World Cup all the time.

But we've got to point out the weakness in our team and certainly, Conceeding in the early phase of the game is definitely not the best thing for us and though they were able to recover from That, it's bad that  we are struggling every time against a small team we normally should comfortably win against.

It’s really nice to see two players on the scoresheet who are making their debuts in the super eagles. One thing I’m beginning to like about the coach Eric Chelle is the way he’s been scouting players abroad for the super eagle team and this players have looked serious while playing for the super eagles. One of the scorers George Ilenikhena is someone who I think is destined to play for the super eagles, when I saw him post that picture of him in a super eagles shirt before his call up I already knew he will give his all when being called upon and thankfully the coach didn’t waste time by inviting him to the team. He’s a good goal scorer and he’s been in a great form for his club Al ltihad in the Saudi league. Although I would’ve wish the team keep a clean sheet in this game at home but the three point is what really matters most and so congratulations to the super eagles for relying round to get the much needed win after conceding early in the first few minutes of the game to later win 2:1.

Madagascar shouldn't be a team who will be giving us issues, we being wastful with our chances almost cost us. The team needs to do more over all,  this is among a key factor if we want to do well in AFCON and lift the trophy again. Well, their games are actually boring to watch sometimes, they don’t usually play the game as if they have passion for it as they used to do in their reactive club sides, they play as if they are been begged to play the games and this can be related to how they treat them whenever they comeback to play and sometimes their allowances are also retained sometimes, that can be enough reason for their poor games, but it seems like this coach is a serious one, he do his best to make changes that made effect to the match and from one goal down, the super eagles of Nigeria won the game.
I am sure if they can be winning matches like this and if the management of NFF can improve with the players welfare and also pay them well on time, they will have the zeal to play for the nation and it will be better again.

Yes its a good day for Nigeria against Madagascar,  from the start of the game to the end was a complete stressful one for Madagascar because the super eagles of Nigeria played as if they had something attached to today's game.
I will say its indeed a good day for Nigeria but needs to work on there conversion ability because that was the only area they had issues from the beginning to the end of today's game. 
I won't also forget to commend Madagascar's team for there relentless effort in stopping all the dangerous move made by the super eagles, if not for that massive defence the goals would have been enough.

It was good that we won the match and our debutants had an impressive performance, I think that the Victor Osimhen in a way have encouraged healthy competition amongst our strikers cause everyone wants to be able to play for the super Eagles and with his absence a big opportunity for this other strikers to show themselves.

George Ilenikhena is having a good season already and he has replicated that form at the national level while Moses Usor, I never heard of him until now. What a brilliant dazzle and twist he did before the goal, We are having brilliant attack and there’s a kind of healthy competition ongoing.

They should do better in the next one.

I don't even know why people are commending the Super Eagles for winning ordinary Madagascar. If they can't win Madagascar then which team can they be able to win in Africa? If Nigerian can have this poor performance against Madagascar then what will happen when they face tougher opponents like Ivory Coast, Senegal, Egypt, Morocco and Algeria. I'm disappointed in the Super Eagles for winning Madagascar with just 2:1.
         Simple matches like this requires them to score many goals so that when scenarios where goals difference will be used to justify a team that will advance to the next stage, it will become a breakthrough for them but instead they will struggle against small teams and still struggle against big teams. Madagascar is not even supposed to score 1 goal against the Super Eagles because that one goal they score look like a defeat for the Super Eagles in my eyes.

Whenever osihmen is not playing, our playing ability and goal scoring reduces. One of the reason why we didn't qualify for the 2026 world cup was because osihmen was injured in the first part of the qualifiers, which made us struggle and most of our games then ended in draw. My expectations for this match was dominating and winning by 3 or more goal, I never knew Madagascar would perform well against us , in our own turf. Nevertheless we should be happy that we got a win, and try to prepare fully for the upcoming ones. At least the main goal is to secure the 3 points.

If there is one thing I know, there is no team that you need look down on currently in the football world. After all the impressive football that I have seen some of the Africa nations play, I know very well not to look down on any team so seeing Madagascar giving Nigeria a tough time isn't really a suprise to me but I was glad that the manager and the players were able to manoeuvre their way to get the full job done and secure the three points.

I did not watch the game but I never expected Madagascar to be a challenge for the Super Eagles. I know that their performance may not be as expected in an excellent manner as many people would want to see but you should always remember that these players do not play often together and after a while and they have to come back together to play it may take a little moment for them to get their rhythm back together so expectations that they play as well as your Premier League clubs or Spanish clubs is sometimes not realistic enough. The win is what is important, and they got it, so congratulations to them.

Yes its a good day for Nigeria against Madagascar,  from the start of the game to the end was a complete stressful one for Madagascar because the super eagles of Nigeria played as if they had something attached to today's game.

Without looking down on the country, which is our opponent, but it was only Madagascar and not a footballing nation, i am not satisfied with the Super Eagles performance in this game. With all due respect, our players can actually be more impressive than they were, we ended up winning, but i cannot celebrate if our performance is going to remain this way, we cannot use this performance to enter a more challenging phase of the competition, we may not survive till the end.

The CAF Nations cup qualifiers matches just kicked off and nobody is talking about the matches that was played today. I thought this thread is about discussions concerning African football and not only Nigeria.

Anyways, here is the results of the matches that was played today:

The match that surprised me most was the match between Sierra Leone Versus Zimbabwe because Sierra Leone won the first half with 2:0 only to return back for second half and Zimbabwe equalized and still won. It was really a great comeback by the Zimbabwe team. It's been long I see that kind of comeback.

Nigeria will face Madagascar tomorrow, hope they win that match.

Active posters of this thread always discuss about other African teams here when they are playing a match and even after they have played a match. Nigeria didn't per take in the just concluded World cup yet we discussed about other African teams that qualified for the 2026 world cup here. If there was no discussion here about the CAF Nations cup qualifiers matches played yesterday it could be that a lot of active posters weren't aware of the matches. It is surprising to see Zimbabwe that was losing 2-0 to Sierra Leone at halftime coming from behind in the second to beat Sierra Leone 3-2. I will watch the highlight of the match to see if it was defensive errors that made it possible for Zimbabwe to pull a great comeback against Sierra Leone yesterday.
