The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I use localbitcoins, btc-e, bitstamp, coinbase  Cheesy Grin And frankly speaking, I have not had any complaint in any of the four platforms. All seems to be working fine under their limitations. Only thing is that localbitcoins charges lot of fees I think.

Agreed. Even I use the same and never had any complaints. Always quick in transactions and do not even have to wait to get permissions after permissions and no limitations for withdrawing the coins from Bitstamp.

I personally stick with one exchange, based on my experience.

And when I see others having bad events happen like btc-e and other similar exchanges. I`d just avoid it. The best is to just get direct person to person.

Ever since I started using shapeshift I don't even bother to go into traditional exchanges, I don't trade too often but when I do have to I just use that to quickly exchange my coins. But for the coins that are not listed there I use Bittrex.

I like cryptsy, just because I have used them forever and I trust them.  However, their platform is a bit bulky and slow at times.

if you have a bank account, you just need to perform a wire trasnfer from bitstamp, so it should work with every country, if your country support it

I personally prefer Bitstamp.
I like the simple, neat and efficient design of the site. The trading screen is not cluttered up like some of the other sites.
You'll have to get verified before you can deposit USD but it's definitely worth it.

Localbitcoins.com. Its easier and do not have much complexity. Although chances of being scammed are more there, but still faster and we can actually communicate with other users and eventually can grow as a bitcoin community.

I dont use local bitcoins because of all the scamming. I do agree with most of the others on this list just not cryptsy. Those guys make me nervous.

I suppose with few tweaks in the security and verification measure, localbitcoins can become the best trading platform for bitcoins. It is just a matter of time, and soon they will bring in improved platform

I use BTC-E, but sometimes it's really slow for me. Not to mention they got hacked a few years back, I'm probably going to change to another exchange soon.

I use Coinbase due to its offshore security for our bitcoins. I love the storage benefits and ownership. A truly secure platform for exchanging real cash into digital currency. The only aspect I question is the fact it has to attach to a bank account in order to operate. I can't use a cash card or other means to generate cryptocurrency. Sounds like an option that can keep it very anonymous but at the same time it does keep it very secure since there is a direct link to our cash.

BTC-e all the way. Easy, reliable. I have had zero complaints, and I have been using it for quite some time now.
And I think most of the people here seem to like btc-e for a reason.
It's simple, if you're thinking the one for you, I think you needn't look further Smiley

Let's be honest here. BTC-e has many complaints all over this forum. They pick and choose who they scam but besides that and those complaints I've never had any issues with them personally while trading at their exchange. I'm sure some others here have seen the threads and the accusations.

Oh, but in my opinion it is very safe and secured. They verify everything, and I suppose they even verify if the amount deposited in their account are from genuine user or not.
