If anybody would like to see a video of a CK building rendered in 3d, check out this link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=819073.msg11220154#msg11220154

I very much liked the idea of designing it conceptually it in minecraft, it gives some depth to CK for sure.

If only I could be a real person in the game and do fun things like build Sad

At least now you've given me an idea to do stuff while waiting Cheesy

That is exactly the reason I did it--it's something to do while waiting!

idea for fixing the IRC name scammer problem:

I don't know at which level this would be integrated.

But basically just find a way to take a hash of the user name and display it (or some variation of it, some interpretation of it) alongside the user name.

So that way, hash of fluffypony will look different than fIuffypony

it'll look like fluffypony-3hjkd903jk  vs  fIuffypony-012e9hkj3r

but of course I guess there's prolly a way to still scam it, and people who don't know jack squat would still get scammed. Ah well.

Bytecoin still not shown as premine, it's a shame because it's the most scammy of all.

It was. Some shills from bytecoin complained and they have no backbone so they took it off. Probably will happen with dash too, although at least with that one, there are actual quotes from the developer acknowledging the problem.

Looks like you were right; Dash is no longer marked as pre-mined.

Could we leave the Dash Talk to the Dash Thread or CMC where it is ONtopic , and the Monero talk here?

Respect

The truth is Monero still has pretty high emission which means price pumps carry their own risks in terms of increased daily mining output (as measured in BTC/fiat) that needs to be absorbed or dumped. So going from 0.001 to 0.004 means that load is increased 4x. If sustained buying demand keeps up, there is no problem, but if it doesn't, then it is a selling opportunity. More discussion on trading should go the speculation thread though.

Monero is a shitcoin and that won't change unless competent developers take over. You guys are clowns. Mere copycats. You can't even compile static bins.
You don't even care. I know for a fact all developers combined don't hold more than 100k xmr. You have no incentive to continue work on xmr so please leave and let others/my team take over...

1. Just your estimate, when will Monero toolchain, with new database included, be released? As I've read latest, LMDB support implementation is ready, but there are performance issues with LMDB under Windows (under Linux, performance seems to be good enough).

The code is merged to master and it does work -- you can clone it and test -- but there are various edge cases, lingering problems with the conversion tools, etc. This is a major change and before an official release all the final details need to be cleaned up. I don't have a date for that.

Quote
2. Are you satisfied by donations, especially donations from mining pools? Do that pools declared they make donations, actually do them with percentage given?

I don't know the situation with the mining pools.

As for the donations generally I don't know that we have an official position, except to say that more would always help, and all donations are appreciated, but that small increases don't change anything qualitatively (in the sense of hiring people full time and such).

Personally I'm very pleased with the support we get from the community. The total value of the coin is still pretty small. Businesses that are based on or use Monero are still limited in number and still small, so we can't really expect a lot from them either (though CK is notable in having contributed significantly, despite not even really being launched yet). So expectations should be modest and overall I'd say the donations have exceeded my expectations.

I can say for a fact that you don't know that for a fact.

The rest of your criticism was valid in that it was opinion, but this is just made up.

As far as "your team" (assuming such a thing even exists) taking over, if there were any indication that the community wanted that we would hand it over. We work for them. Don't hold your breath.

If you have a great team and you think coin development is something worthwhile you should go and start your own coin though.

Is your "insider" the fact that Fluffypony has openly stated a rough estimate of how much the core team holds?

The fud is strong in this one, Luke.

May the fud be with you.

Ever thought about collaborating? Although you guys don't seem very font of eachother, for the sake of the coin it could be set aside and you could collectively work towards the same goal(s) in my opinion.

I've been a large and long term holder of Monero up until this week, approx this time last year my XMR holdings were worth $60,000 and I've sold none until now, why did I decide to sell - because I took a good long look at the coin, it's development and potential as far as I could see it and decided that it was no longer something that I wished to support.

Why did I take a fresh look at it, because among other coins that I back is DASH and on the BCT DASH thread there is constant trolling by Monero fans and the dev smooth, just check how many posts he's made there today alone, dozens and dozens and dozens, why is this happening - I assume to make the thread unreadable and spread FUD, well it does this but it also creates a very poor image of crypto in general and Monero in particular, it is going out of one's way to try and antagonize everyone who sees it.

So I am no longer prepared to back a coin that has a main dev act in such a toxic way, I now no longer own any and do not plan to in the future, those remaining I wish you well with it but my decision to sell three days ago was primarily a business one, I do not see a bright future for this coin as things are atm I'm sorry to say.

Here we go:

Address: 42aaBurnXMRBurnBurnXMRBurnBurnXMRBurnBurnXMR13DXCDQWwCATBednqL7EKiXejT55RDHdzPC mxid66QRLMugnw2G

Viewkey: 1ac191890bc6ae9fe3a8115e83263abce1f020144ee7e5254e14efb9dcea8105

I have tested the "burn" functionality by sending a small amount to this address (it's quite a rush, give it a try Cheesy).

Here is my TX: http://www.chainradar.com/xmr/transaction/3304656a4891542b9e350762c609affba76a6de1c8c1991a81a009bf513f5bcc (take note of my payment ID Cheesy)

Now, I cannot vouch for the "auditability" of this address, though the viewkey above is certainly valid, and I promise no one will be able to spend any funds that are sent here.

I was curious to see if anyone else had burned their XMR already... sadly not Undecided only your transaction of 0.1XMR there.

Probably to verify the burn the paymentId and amount could be treated as the secret the user must use to prove they were the one to burn their XMR. Though why not just send them to donate@getmonero.org in that case? Burning FIAT is kind of illegal, it should be illegal to burn Moneros as well Tongue

Well you wouldn't be able to tell because of stealth addresses anyway, unless they copied my payment ID. And they could just do that to pretend while actually sending to themselves. It's not too difficult to prove you sent the TX, as you own the private key for it (just needs implemented).

The auditing needs implemented on the other side to verify that the burned funds are actually arriving in the account. I desire to set up a website capable of doing just this (for another purpose, but this would be a fun "extra" piece).

But yes, the feeling of pressing "send" is quite a rush; adrenaline junkies, go! Tongue

We could burn small amounts while being creative with the payment IDs, then when the auditing is set up, all the TX's could be grouped with the IDs for comedic effect. Smiley

I figured out how to selectively audit this transaction (or the 0.1 output at least), proving it went to the burn address. Pretty cool stuff. Smiley

If you have a great team and you think coin development is something worthwhile you should go and start your own coin though.

Or.. primer-'s "team" could just start doing pull-requests. He doesn't have to be maintainer of the repository to add a lot of work. And no one is going to hand him over anything without huge amounts of work already done.

Primer-, start doing pull requests, and show what your team is capable of. Otherwise you're just trolling. This is open source...
