Hey there it is my pc or the bitmonerod is too expensive in terms of resources?
It made my pc lag as hell, everything was freezed and took ages to get unstuck, I am on linux and i5 processor, so that looks weird to me.
Or it is only the blockchain download that makes it so laggy?
Are you using the latest version (0.9.4)? Older versions (I believe < 0.9) consumed lots of memory. If you have a rotary disk drive, your HD will have a lot of I/O during the downloading of the blockchain and this can slow the computer down. This happens with Bitcoin and other coins and it's not something unique to Monero. If you have a SSD the process is much quicker and your computer's lag will be much less noticeable. In any case, assuming you're on 0.9.1 or greater, your computer's speed will return to normal after the blockchain has synced. |

I believe linux monero simplewallet should ask for a password confirmation when creating a wallet. It's not that hard to make a typo on a linux console!
yeah the lack of that is very frustrating. |

I suspect the hard drive. I have no problems running Monero on a computer with a rotary hard drive provided it is one of the larger ones. I run Monero on an 8 year old computer with a 2 TB rotary hard drive without any problems. I suspect one can go down to 1 TB or even 500 GB on a rotary hard drive and still be ok; however I have not tested this. |

Error: refresh failed: no connection to daemon. Please make sure daemon is running.. Blocks received: 0 I get this error when trying to run a refresh on a new wallet. My daemon is running and fully synced. I can open other wallets and use them without error, just not a new one. Any ideas? OSX - 9.4.0-4d448a9 |

no. #IRC serves exactly the same purpose, and doesn't limit your user numbers or messages and then hold your data ransom for fees. slack is a scam. If you don't want to use an IRC client, you can use a web client like kiwi https://kiwiirc.com/clientjust enter #monero (for general monero chat) or #monero-dev (for more technical stuff). There are other channels as well. |
