Is there any way to know how big the network hash rate is?

Join #monero on freenode.

Code:
<tifozi> !bmrdiff
<botmonero> Current Difficulty: 444371
<tifozi> !bmrhash
<botmonero> Estimated Hashrate: 7406 H/s

You can also check in the daemon logs.

Does the file wallet.bin exist? Is it readable ?
Did you first --generate-new-wallet=wallet.bin ?
Did you try to create a new one?
Need more informations to help.

I think it is really good for a command line wallet.

Ever tried namecoin wallet before the GUI? It was terrible!

Is there a bounty fund for these needs?  I will donate if one exists.

Pool #1
Block Explorer #2

P2P Pool would be best.  I tried but takes higher level than I know.  Better I just offer coin towards bounty.

I had a similar issue where my bin some how got corrupted and would unlock with the password (yes, it was the right password)

Is there any sort of recovery or am I just shit out of luck?
