*Putting my paranoid hat on*

What if this is all a big nothing, conspired by Matthew to steal all our coins?  He gets BTC from advertisers, and from people pre-ordering the magazine.  It's fairly easy to make good-looking headlines and cover pages if one knows their way around photoshop.  It could be one very elaborate scam!

*Takes paranoid hat off*

BUT, I don't believe it is.  Just something interesting to think about, especially given the history of various Bitcoin entrepreneurs.

well,  someone with 2876 postings of experience should be able to judge someone with 2444 postings, or not?

Actually, you aren't far off in your thinking lol  there is no reason to think otherwise that this is the "grand finale" for him!

No, don't count on me for it.  I am a terrible judge of people.  I'm good at catching Nigerian scammers in emails, but when it comes to someone who isn't an obvious scammer, I am far too trusting of people.

Well, I certainly welcome Matthew coming in and giving more proof that the magazine is actually going to happen.  But that said, I really, seriously doubt it's a scam.  Then again, see what I wrote right above this, haha.

I was going to order a physical copy for myself in the UK but the country field is still defaulting to US and when I click checkout it's not showing my country at all. Please fix this so I can get one ordered please! Smiley

If my post helped, I'll happily accept a few bitmills!   15rGg6A1JFZV3b7TTbtpAaiYGdUD1e1oAm

Look at all these unanswered posts. That's what I get for going to sleep once in a while.

First, I need to answer a serious issue in the community--- privacy.

SgtSpike is right. We could easily be a scam trying to get mailing addresses and real names of bitcoiners. And even if we're not, the security of that confidential data is extremely important is it not? Now rather than put all this on my shoulders at this moment (usually Vladimir handles our security) I will say that if you are ordering through e-Mail, your e-mail is only seen by myself, Mihai Alisie, and Google documents servers. If you are ordering through Bit-pay, it is only seen by me and Tony of Bit-pay. That should be enough but I understand if a security and anonymity conscious community requires more from me. I am absolutely all ears on this one. Any advice?

Bbit (although surely jesting) is wrong. I am not going anywhere. I enjoy trolling low standards far too much to ever leave the world of Bitcoin. I also have shared my personal, banking, address, etc information with 50+ individuals in our organization, the Digital Commerce Advancement Organization (http://dcao.org). So if I ever did something stupid, Vladimir Marchenko, Ken Armitt, Zhou Tong, Arthur Britto, Roger Ver, Stefan Thomas, Charlie Shrem, Jay Shore, Erik Vorhees, Mihai Alisie, Nuri hodges, Slush, Steven Wagner, 40+ others would not only know where I live, but they'd know exactly how to hurt me the most.

And finally, Holliday and others have brought up a good point about the bitcoins paid to us. Our printing fees are in USD, not BTC. We WILL transfer the bitcoins out to USD as soon as we receive them. Anyone who has run a magazine before will understand this without explanation. This is also why our fees are denoted in USD and not BTC.

We're really excited to provide this magazine to the public and I personally won't be getting any rest until it's done.

P.S. As a troll, I understand the dangers of letting a forum thread go without the OP constantly nurturing it. I'll be here to answer any questions, openly, honestly and transparently, even if I need to use style="opacity:0.4;".

Thanks!

Several others have commented on this. The 'default' location has nothing to do with your location. Simply change it to your country and it will be sufficient. At the moment Bit-pay doesn't seem to offer a shipping/pricing module so I am just charging $3 to cover most costs. We will probably eat a loss on that eventually if enough people order it from Cairo, but I am more concerned in the first month with just getting it out the door.

Thanks!

EDIT: If it's not showing your country at all then I'll need to communicate to Bit-pay about it. Which country is it not showing?

i thought this too, but on the next page (after confirming the payment, where the btc address is), just city and state was part of my address, and the country was missing.
however, i can enter the country as the state, in my case that doesn't matter.

The international order form does not accept a different country than USA. When I change it, it switches back to USA, and the bit-pay invoice does not list the country at all.

I've alerted Stephen of Bit-Pay. I'll update when I am updated. Thanks for reporting this error!

Gosh,

just ordered a copy, I'm from Italy, my country was not shown either, but I thought it was just a "cosmetic" problem since there was a drop down menu to input one's country.

Tell me please if I have to PM you my address!

Regards.

I didn't use GoDaddy. Where does it say GoDaddy? I have used Cinfu to register all domains except for Bitcoinmagazine, which I did not purchase myself. Are you suggesting I pay the money to transfer it out of the current registrar and over to CINFU?

Let me amend the bug report.

The form shows a drop down menu with country. When I select mine (presumably others too), and then press "save changes", the country switches back to USA. When I click "Checkout now", it displays the invoice, but under "buyer information" it does not mention any reference to a country, it just shows the address without country.

This looks great. I just ordered two copies.
I've never used bit-pay.com before, but I have a few problems:

First order was payed using the Schildbach wallet, and it deducted the bitcoins, but bit-pay still timed out. Realizing that if I get four copies instead of two that's fine, so I went ahead and ordered two more and using bitcoin spinner this time, the payment cleared and I got the confirmation email, but my address in the confirmation does not include the country (Denmark). Is this normal?

Looking foreward to my two (four) copies, and best of luck with future issues.
