Casascius should release a line of peppermint shaped like his physical bitcoins.

He would call them: "Minted bitcoins".

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Send the first when it is ready, label it Issue -2. Or hurry the fuck up with B&N and make Feb Issue 0 and Get Issue 1 out in B&N next month.

Hehe. I wish it were possible to 'hurry up' with distribution.

Yeah, I'm just messing. But seriously, in ten years I want some chump to start bragging about his first issue of Bitcoin magazine to me and I whip out Issue -2.

LOL.

<Guy 1> I was there before the first magazine was ever printed...See? This is the minus first issue.
<Guy 2> Oh yea? I was there before the minus first issue was printed, see? This is the minus second issue.
<Guy 3> Oh yeah? I was there before all of them were printed and it was just being worked on, see? This is a chatlog.
<Me> Sup bitches. I was there when I had the idea. Mint anyone?

lol... So B&N has already agreed to carry it, the magazine isn't out, and you complained to them and demanded they start carrying it.

I think I've already mentioned the timeline we're dealing with, but if there is any confusion--- distribution takes months, not weeks. Don't expect Bitcoin Magazine in your local stores before April unless you put it there yourselves.  Cheesy

I like the idea of of having 2 or 3 "pre" issues before issue #1, when it can be in B&N.  That just might fly.

Issue -2 (alpha)
Issue -1 (beta)
Issue 0 (gamma/release canditate)
Issue 1 (gold release) in B&N.

I should have read more carefully.  I will start complaining as soon as it's out then. Grin

BTW, I heard there was inside cover space on the bitcoin magazine - considering coming up with something to put there.  Still available?  Don't know where I read it.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

Just ordered an issue.  It's the second thing I've bought with bitcoin (the first being some maple syrup).

What is the gift for ordering a year subscription?

Aye, he had mentioned something about ad space and some pricing. Matt, can we get a breakdown of actual locations and pricing or a *point* int he direction we can find such detailed info?

cheers

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.
