Casinocoin,
Can you add the contents of the old press kit to casinocoin.org if it's not there already? There are hi-res images available there that Bitkee had requested to set up the metal wallets for casinocoin. They have now added them to their order page and you can buy them now.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Hey guys, quick question.

I've received a few inbound transactions just fine to my windows CSC wallet (v1.2.0.0-g-beta) but the first time I tried to send out coins an hour ago, it seems like the transaction is "stuck" (still showing 0 out of 6 confirmations). I have 8 connections to the network. Any ideas why that would be? Thanks in advance and here's some details:

107,336.35 CSC coins have still yet to reach my wallet CWoydPBNMifhpShiLQ5d68H69Z4bGJV1yd through this whole c-cex BS.

I have been reading our community forum here everyday looking for updates on consensuses.

Please, can we come a conclusion on this? I'm not just going to go away, unfortunately.

The consensus is, you need to deal with this though c-cex.

Their customers can't hold everyone else accountable for their loss.

I can't find CSC on c-cex anymore.  Cry

Everyone should take this occurrence as a learning experience about what happens when a coin forks and an exchange does not know about it...or in c-cex's case they thought they were updating to the right version due to an outdated thread.

Unfortunately the responsibility of that oversight is the cost of doing business as an exchange. I feel an exchange has the responsibility to ensure they are on the right blockchain for any coin they support. Checks and balances need to be in place to verify they are on the right blockchain. The reason the loss is so large is due to the length of time they spent on the wrong blockchain.

C-Cex asking the devs to cover THEIR losses is them mitigating those losses. I suppose it's worth a shot for them to try. The scarier part is that the devs are actually entertaining the thought.

Anyone catch the big jump to 1282? The sell side is small so there is little in the way to bring the price back up.

Popcorn time...this should be entertaining  Smiley

To keep things in perspective...were only talking about $4k worth of CSC at current market. If I was c-cex I would put in some low buy orders. They seem to be filling with the auto exchange pools selling.

C-Cex is probably looking at it from the perspective that it will take a long time to make back that $4k with exchange fee's.

Weird thing just happened to my wallet. Looks like it lost all peers and was not able to connect to anyone until I added the list from the OP. It was working up until last Saturday. I imagine the new wallet coming out with working seed nodes will fix this but just thought I would report.

Edit: I see that 1.2.1 with updated seed nodes has been release in source form. Updating...

Edit2: xpool.net updated to 1.2.1

Regarding the C-cex issue, I guess it's time for me to give my opinion. The root cause of the issue is that C-cex did not update their wallet when the May 19th fork occurred. Obviously, this has led to some finger pointing regarding notifications, transcoder's original threads, and who is responsible to the discrepancy. In an effort to seek resolution on behalf of some of the community members who were affected, we discussed this with c-cex and the only solution c-cex was willing to consider involved us creating coins for c-cex. This was approximately 1.5 mil coins or ~5% of the current number in circulation. At the time, we discussed the possibility of c-cex rolling back transactions after May 19th. However, c-cex was pretty confident that the exchange would not have the funds to settle the resulting negative BTC balance either.

Given the above, it is my understanding that c-cex also approached Casinocoin originally, believing him to be the owner/sponsor of the project, and asked him to fill the discrepancy. I did not participate in these discussions. However, it is also my understanding that Casinocoin was willing to pay the discrepancy out of his own pocket as long as this was a reasonable amount. Unfortunately, Casinocoin did not have 1.3 mil coins to give when he was told how large the discrepancy actually was.

Eventually, I was approached by C-cex and asked to make changes to code to create the coins that he needed. In the discussion, I established that although this was technically possible, it would not be ethical for me to make such a decision unilaterally. I do not own the coin. I only support the community that continues to breath life into the coin. This is why I asked C-cex to discuss this openly on the boards and make his situation public. In an effort to be fair, I have tried to not participate int he discussion and I offered that if the community was to develop a general consensus that altering the client to create the coins that c-cex needed was appropriate, then I would be willing to add the required code.

From the discussions that have resulted from the past few days, my observation is that the majority does not seem to support creating coins to bail out C-cex. In addition, many seem pretty vocal that it is the exchange's responsibility to resolve this issue. From what I have seen, there are also some concerns that C-cex may not have mitigated their situation to the best of their ability by implementing basic fraud controls to detect potential forks earlier before they become issues like this. In addition to reading the posts to the thread, I have had individual discussions with several individuals affected by this issue as well. Some of these individuals support the idea of printing the coins and some of them vehemently oppose the idea. Many are frustrated with the overall support response from C-cex. I believe it is completely understandable why individuals who were greatly impacted by this issue are turning to the devs to make changes to fix the issue. C-cex does not have the funds to absorb this discrepancy and there is a very high likelihood that they will not reimburse those who were affected.

Understanding, all of this, my personal opinion is that we should not introduce changes to create new coins in this situation. Having the option can be a useful tools in the right situation. However, I believe that in this particular situation, it would create a serious moral hazard , sets a bad precedent, and ultimately destroys value for the majority of community members that support the coin and follow the coin's rules. In general, these users do not believe that casinocoin should be in the business of insuring users of the coin. I think in this situation, C-cex is asking too much of all of us and I don't think we can support a bail out.

Please keep in mind that I have not discussed this in detail with Casinocoin since he has been busy with his move as of late. However, I'm pretty sure he'd agree that saying no in this particular case is the right the thing to do for the community. I'm sure we will have that discussion in the next couple days.

For the users who were affected by this issue, I hope that we don't lose your future participation in Casinocoin. Please understand that I get no personal enjoyment out of having to tell some of you that we can't make a quick fix. AT this time, it would be best to seek resolution with C-cex directly. If you support the exchange, maybe he might be willing to consider alternative forms of retribution. I have not discussed any of those scenarios, but I imagine that it would seem reasonable if he took on a few investors of CSC in order to raise adequate capitalization. This is something that affected users should discuss with C-cex if it is something you'd wish to pursue.

If anyone has any questions, comments, or otherwise, please message me. I will try to respond to everyone to the best of my ability. You can ask me anything. I'm not the type of person that will white wash anything.

1.2.1 just includes a dns seed fix since transcoder's casinoco.in domain had expired and the project was forced to move to casinocoin.org. They are both compatible in terms of protocol. 1.2.1 will just sync more readily without requiring all the addnode entries int he conf file. Next week, we're planning a release of 1.3.0. So please join the update mailing lists, so you can get notified when the new client is ready. Wink

t's been 15 days since I've notified C-CEX about the CSC issue, and that was after patiently waiting for delay in transaction time.  The  times I've inquired about compensation for this negligence, they have replied as follows:

2014-06-18 03:41:52 C-CEX supportWithdrawals made prior to 17/06 made from old wallet and goes to wrong forked blockchain. We are already negotiating to find solution with new CSC owners. Now, it seems that most, if not all, of the community has expressed that the view that the burden should fall on C-CEX as a risk of operating an exchange.  C-CEX has a duty to manage deposits and withdraws and the duty to ensure their systems are operating properly, current and up-to-date.  It appears that

1) C-CEX is lacking in customer service and communication when handling the issue of losing its clients money.
2) C-CEX does not perform due diligence in updating coin wallets to current standards or ensure they are 100% functional before putting them online to its clients.
3) C-CEX expects the CSC community to cover its losses due to their installation of an incorrect wallet version.
4) C-CEX is reluctant to resolve this issue with their own funds.

Personsonally, my opinion is that C-CEX is unprofessional.  Any company worth its salt will immediately take responsibility for its actions or lack of actions that result in damage to its customers to a) maintain its integrity; b) to control any further damage that would lead to negative PR and and a reputation for being incompetent; c) prove themselves worthy to be the stewards of the funds its customers have entrusted to them; d) just do the right thing.

It is unacceptable for C-CEX to hold its clients property (a tort of conversion) while hoping for a community bailout.  I dont expect C-CEX to last another 4 months.  That's not soley due to the untrustworthy reputation they are bringing on themselves now, but for the lack of poor management and planning that has lead to this point.  People simply are not going to trust their money in incompetent hands.

I ask the CSC community to hold the exchanges accountable for their actions or lack thereof.  If the exchanges will not take responsibility for mishandling their clients funds which are entrusted to them in good faith then the entire crypto community suffers.  What are these coins worth but our faith and trust in trading them for value? If the exchanges can't be relied upon to carry out their responsibilities then the house of cryptos will come tumbling down.  It should be a privilege for an exchange to carry your coin, and that privilege must carry responsibility.

There should be no room for "play time" exchanges who hope problems will just go away.  We need real exchanges that accept the real risks involved and take full responsibility to provide just remedy when they've dropped the ball.

That's my two cents (that didn't get lost and ignored).
