I am curious how OTHERS got their coins exchanged??

Ok, I have been waiting for weeks for the Fork to PoS. Last Friday it stopped synchronizing so I immediately went for the new Wallet. 50% PoS!! BUT.. New wallet ignores the old wallet???

The old wallet and new wallet are on different blockchains, the wallets are not compatible.  You need to send a PM to MMXIV to get your coins swapped over to the new chain (this REALLY needs to be in the OP).
I was late to. I sent him a PM with the passsword and i sent him  my wallet.dat  per mail.
After three days the coins showed up in  my new wallet and the amound was even a bit more than i sent him.
Really great!

A word to the staking issue:
To have peace in mind open the  debugwindow and type "getinfo"
there you can see the coins staking, and can be shure that  it is only a
matter of display, the  process is working

Do you have an email address??

Thank you!

Again, can someone explain how the staking cycle works? I have about 14 MMXIV. I received a mint by stake on 8-9, 8-11, and 2 early this morning (8-12). But my wallet is currently showing a balance of only ~0.5 MMXIV and a stake of ~7MMXIV. Not sure where the other 6.5 are at the moment but the way the client has been working they'll reappear shortly.

But again, can someone please explain the cycle? How often am I supposed to be getting a stake?

Just reload client and your coins will show back up. Just a UI issue when they move. No balance is lost, though

I've been told I really need to be with you to get the coins from my old wallet into the new one... So here I am! How to proceed???

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE with 50% I'm running hugely behind and I was eager to switch ASAP Sad

twitter.com/devnullius

Bittrex actually performed the swap for most of us.  Several pages back when the swap to the new blockchain was announced, the dev encouraged everyone to transfer their balance to Bittrex.  When the new wallet was released, Bittrex actually handled converting everyone's coins to the new blockchain, so whatever balance you had at Bittrex automatically changd over to the new coin.

But there was only a couple days notice of this, so for everyone else, he said to PM and he would provide instructions on how to verify your balance and transfer coins to your new MMXIV address.

Quote
If you see a network alert asking you to upgrade, you should listen to it  Wink

Thank you for the follow-up. I don't trust exchanges any longer so I keep most of my coins in my wallet.

I must say: MOST AMATEUR SWAP (pretty much) EVER!!

I am STILL waiting and STILL no response!!!! THEY SHOULD HAVE ANNOUNCED BETTER!!! Sad

♥ follow ups, hate Developers. F*ck this swap Sad

twitter.com/devnullius

It was actually very well handled. We even did it with a third party through Bittrex. Please don't blame us for missing the announed swap

To be fair, it would help if you had a "push" notification method, perhaps an email distribution list. Now I feel like I have to login to this website everyday and check this thread in case there is some announcement.

I don't think it's a fair expectation that everyone who's ever mined our bought or owns MMXIV to check this thread frequently.

I really can't complain about the swap. Shure, you will always be able to find someone, who handled this and that more or less sophisticated. But ask yourself: What do you really want?
A wallet and coin that never updates and dies? Everywhere around us are threads full with scamcoins, disappering maintainers and chinese copycats. Here you have somebody who stands by his creation and risks really everything. When things went  wrong there was always a honest aproach to fix them. So what  do you need, to give a coin your REAL support? If you know better how to do it, help him. Why should a coin stand by his community, if the community does not stand by its coin?

Please don't be so easily offended... Our critics are legit. You totally ignored your twitter for example and you failed to update the [ANN], only a comment was posted. Even the website does not give any information... All had to be found in 1 single comment you made... I'm good and sharp, but really: I missed that despite 3 weeks of close following. I immediately noticed last Friday the fork was there: no more sync, despite connections.

But again: you are here now ♥ PLEASE ADVISE ON HOW TO CHANGE THEM COINS? PLEASE DO NOT TELL US WE WERE TOO LATE AND WE LOST *everything*??

Please... Smiley

twitter.com/devnullius

I also got your PM, I sent a reply. See below? Smiley

The swap was extremely professional and hosted by a third party. Please don't FUD because you missed the update. It was announced well in advance

Sad I am not fudding... I kept an eye on the [ANN] for 3 weeks; nothing changed there!!! I had to keep an eye out until the fork!

When that happened I immediately went online, tweeted, you, DMd you, did everything I could but it was silent!!

I only now hear there you made a COMMENT without a single tweet that one should transfer it to an online exchange. Really, in a comment?? Like I am going to read every single comment on every single coin?

You really could have done a better job, don't you agree?

But you are here now, that is appreciated Smiley

But how to swap them? Should I send you a wallet? Were the TX-IDs enough? Please inform and (ffs Smiley ) update the [ANN]...? It really is confusing and please don't tell me I lost all my 1.7 MMXIV - I was way too proud of them Sad And now with 50% PoS I am missing out and getting behind more and more Sad

So please advise Smiley

There are coins that manage to hard fork without losing compatibility for the old wallet... No?  Roll Eyes

Here you have somebody who stands by his creation and risks really everything. When things went  wrong there was always a honest approach to fix them. So what  do you need, to give a coin your REAL support?

I am patient and open to any solution. I tried to reach out many times but just got ignored. And with 50% PoS on such a limited coin, every day of delay, costs real MMXIV. I have been supporting this coin from the beginning - just check my twitter: @devnullius. You might see I'm rather active and supportive for altcoins and crypto news in general. No? ;p

And when I'm finally contacted by him after many desperate attempts through twitter, webform, PM; I only got a: please don't fud.

What I did not yet get is a *solution* Not even a: well you are fucked, you had to find that small comment and ignore all other media outlets we have. For we are professionals for the people that like to play detective all day long. Again: I checked and followed all main outlets! (Twitter? Inactive and ignored) (Website? Not updated for this huge important fork) (Website contact form? Never heard back of them). So yes, I started very polite and friendly - that's who I am! But I am also a little annoyed about a loss of 1.7 hardly mined MMXIV, where I was mining for from the first hour of launch...

If you know better how to do it, help him. Why should a coin stand by his community, if the community does not stand by its coin?

I'm there to help *ANY* altcoin promotion! Send me a DM. But most tips I have given earlier, I think? Smiley

Peace!

PS: and how to swap for all people still not forked???

POST-EDIT: Some more chats...

But 1.7 out of 2014... I was proud on that you know? Sad

he says
Yes, but you will ultimately get it, right?
I mean, if not they are stealing you.

me
I dunno, still connections to old network (so it is possible) but no blockchain synchronization will be done
anyways: you go relax Smiley

he says
A delay of a couple of days doesn't make any goood reason to steal.

me
Just wanted to share what I'm all up with ;p
I was there FRIDAY immediately! Got a yellow popup from the client: connection lost and went online...
Been trying ever since Sad
in a fucking comment... A comment!! Smiley
2:35 AM

he says
I don't think connections on the old wallet are worth anymore...

me
worth? Working*?

he says
They are doing and 'artificial' transfer, from one blockchain to another...

me
meaning manual?

he says
so connection on the old blockchain are useless I think, even if they ultimately bring you your coins...
because you'll have them in a blockchain that is not active anymore.

me
yeah wallet will not work anymore; ergo worthless unless swapped

he says
That's it.
And they are swapping at their will.
So insist.

me
Sad so I should suck up? ;p
YOu know how easy that is for me XD

he says
If they don't do the swap for you, let the whole thread know they steal 1,7 coins.

Well... I at least can keep you guys updated, no? ;p

From anonymous, so I keep faith Smiley

But maybe that helps: I uploaded the wallet.dat to my server and PM'ed him the link and the password. If you don't have the possibility do do that, i may upload it for you to my server and give you the link. If you like to do that, send your wallet.dat to person@googlemail.com (WITHOUT your password of course) And please give Mr. MMXIV a break (i know you really asked politely). He seemed a bit overworked, but I got to know him as an honest man. I will try to raise his awareness about your case and ensure you will get your coins.

The critique is not about the coin, it's about the communication. Devvie has some legitimate points.
Believe it or not, we're trying to help you. Do you think MMXIV (or any coin) can be successful if the users are constantly frustrated by lack of communication? I for one can't imagine why you wouldn't keep a "sticky" or a note in the OP and the website explaining what had happened with the fork until they had all been successfully converted. What would that hurt?

Devvie:
Just send a pm to MMXIV with your private key from the old chain and your new mmxiv address from the new chain and you will receive your coins , me i just did the same , i sent a pm to MMXIV with my private key  (just go to the old chain wallet and go to Help>> Debug window >> console and run this command dumpprivkey <MMXIVaddress> and you will receive your priv key ) and i just received my coins Smiley

I can totally understand devvienuis' frustration.

Yes, the swap did go through flawlessly for the most part, but only for those of us who happened to be keeping tabs on this thread during the 3-4 day window between when you announced the swap and when Bittrex completed it.  After that, you pretty much removed everything in the OP regarding that there was a new blockchain, new wallet.  Without reading through this entire thread, you'd never know it happened.

Someone who hasn't checked this thread in awhile, or just happened to miss that 3-4 day window, if they looked at the OP right now, it sounds like there was a hard fork and all you need to do is download the new wallet.  No mention of a swap or anything, no mention that the original blockchain is now defunct and you need to contact MMXIV to get your coins swapped.

So we don't get any more angry MMXIV users in here spreading FUD and calling this a scam, I highly suggest you put something in the OP like this:

The original MMXIV blockchain has been replaced as of 8/1/2014, all new MMXIV addresses begin with "M".  If you are still using the original MMXIV wallet (address begins with a 1) please send a PM to MMXIV to get your balance swapped over to the new chain.

Got another PM Smiley
I already sent them to you a while ago

I also do not use Twitter, so you were not talking tome

Well, icon was circling so I assumed synchronization. My bad: 0 connections to the network. Therefore still at 0 despite no warning next to "Wallet" that I wasn't (fullY) synced.

Going to look for mmxiv.conf next.

And I now see MMXIV-twitter account is not mentioned in your [ANN], so I assumed incorrectly that it was yours... Most devs claim their account in advance to prevent hassle like this. But ok, my bad here ;p

I'm testing, but I think I still have a problem... Sad

This is what I had...

I could not sync, so I downloaded the installer again and according to my running wallet (v1.0.0b) there was a newer version released since I last tried.

So I thought nothing of it and installed the new version. Which crashed at startup. (I'll edit details later)

A little panicking later I luckily had an old copy of the MMXIV2 wallet and installed that again. Wouldn't start either! Same error (see edit).

So I took an older backup wallet and replaced that for the new one. That worked again: my address is safe again.

But now I'm going to need to update the wallet to v1.0.1 and therefore probably create a wallet crash again...

Sigh. Who has been here? Should I request a new swap with new wallet?? XD

Let me know for I have to bug the developer again... I'd like to know what's up!

The crash at the beginning (first run) is a quite normal experience and not permanent.
But sometimes it keeps crashing if a not properly detached database or even parts of it are still in the data folder.

Try this, wich is the savest way:

1) backup your datafolder make shure to have a save copy of your wallet.dat
2) uninstall the current mmxiv2 wallet
3) delete the remaining datafolder
4) install the newest version
5) start it and watch it crashing
6) before next run enshure (via taskmanager) that it is not still running as a gostprocess
7) start it again (it should get staple on the second/third run) and wait for any connection
Cool close the client again and replace the wallet.dat with your backed up copy (ONLY the wallet.dat, not any other datafile)
9) start the wallet again and .... good luck :-)
