Wallet update released, PiggyStakes 1.2.1.1, please see release notes:

https://github.com/piggycoin/newpiggycoin/blob/master/ReleaseNotes.txt

Once again it is very important for the network that those on clients versions 1.1.6.x or below to update to the latest wallet. I am quite surprised to still see ~30% still using the old wallet.

- First, you will be on the wrong chain, which our exchanges or block explorers do not recognize.
- Second, you will be broadcasting orphan blocks to the rest of your peers, increasing bandwidth and CPU usage for you and all your fellow piggies.
- Third, you will eventually be CUT OFF from the main network in a future release when we update with a protocol version disconnect.

So, I repeat myself, please update your wallet. We are working towards a Mac release, however in the interim I suggest running the windows wallet under something like parallels in the interim. We understand this is an inconvenience but are working diligently to release a Mac binary.

Hi! I have another question related to staking. I noticed this morning I started getting Conflicted stakes with no mention of being broadcasted to X# of nodes like normal stakes. I let it go a couple hours to see what would happen, thinking it would eventually correct itself. Stake weight numbers started decreasing, as did the reported network weight, which I suppose is indicative of being on a fork? But even though I could see the main fork #'s reported on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/piggy/, my own staking continued to fall behind with no connection/correction. After over 3 hours I tried locking/unlocking the wallet, which brought no improvement, and then shut down the wallet and rebooted it, which brought me back onto the main fork again, apparently.

Am I right that I was on a fork? Would the wallet eventually get back on the main fork if left alone, or does it require a shutdown/restart? If it's supposed to correct itself, what is the criteria for doing so?

Oink!!

Hey ebeliever, hard to say exactly without monitoring the debug log while it was happening to you, so most of this would be speculation FYI.

Conflicted stakes are not out of the ordinary, I too get them quite frequently. They look to me to be orphan-like as I compared the times on a few of mine and what actually got committed to the chain as they are within seconds of a competing stake. Also with difficulty decreasing it would increase the odds of such an event I would think. It's actually quite interesting seeing what the difficulty is doing with 1.2.1.1 consolidating coins at around 48k, but back to your questions.

Weight numbers as well as decreasing difficulty I do not believe would be indicative of being on a fork (especially the stake-defective chain). You would be on your own micro-fork from your conflicted stake until it moved to its final conflicted stake and the wallet had set itself back to the correct chain, maybe a few blocks in. If you managed to stake a sequential grouping then all of those would go conflicted if the parent stake lost out by a few milliseconds.

Restarting / resetting your wallet would have mixed up your peers. It may be possible you were talking to a couple peers that were having some problems staying caught-up. Once again this would be my speculation.

If you really want to take a look at what's going on you can look in the debug.log and for a deeper dive turn on debugging in newpiggycoin.conf, that would give you some definitive insight.

Cheers!

Mac wallet v1.2.1.1 Public BETA: http://www.mediafire.com/download/4c7nrzs3vro2rdz/PiggyCoin_v1.2.1.1_Mac.zip

Can somebody test it? :Cool  Compiled by a trustworthy source who made the previous Mac PIG and PIGGY wallets (maxpower).

You might want to use the bootstrap I put in the OP to help you sync quicker, but I don't know how you'd do that on a Mac.

New Mac wallet seems to be working well!

If you already have the old mac wallet installed it is best to re-sync the new wallet from scratch or replace the blockchain files in the wallets support folder, with the new files from the link on the first page of this thread.

On a mac you go to  /Users/'nameofuser'/Library/Application Support/newpiggycoin/'replace files in here'

This shouldn't really be necessary unless you were using or syncing the old wallet after the hard fork happened Wink

Glad to hear Piggycoin is getting covered in the altcoin book. A little thing, but little things add up to bigger things over time. It's actually quite an honor given there must be well over a thousand alts (more if you count the extinct ones), and they only picked a few dozen.
