PiggyCoin Google Plus URL has changed to https://plus.google.com/u/0/+PiggyCoinHit us up if you are on Google Plus ;8] Am looking to establish more of a presence there to catch the interest of teachers or education people who might be using that service.

AnnouncementThe Android PiggyBank has been remade for New PiggyCoin and is now back on the Google Play store! Here! Finally you can access your PIGGYs on the move The old PIG PiggyBank has now been removed from the Play store. Note: Please only be logged into an account on one device at a time. Log out of the Web PiggyBank on your computer before you log into the same account on your Android device. Look forward to trying it out. BTW, am I correct in thinking that staking is only possible on the Windows wallets right now? And maybe the Mac and Linux ones? I suppose Android staking would be difficult, and it's out of the question for the online piggybank accounts if I understand such things correctly.

Of course the Mac and Linux wallets stake ^oo^ Android would be difficult but not impossible -- It's something that's only just starting to come into existence (see VanillaCoin). It could be possible for the online piggybank to stake. But it depends on how our online/Android piggybank guy feels about doing it. He's an external dev and he's kind of busy with his IRL job :8)

BTW, the Android wallet looks good on a tablet (1024X600), but doesn't scale well on my (very basic) smartphone at 480X320. The buttons are huge and appear sized for something with at least twice the resolution, resulting in a lot of scrolling around the screen just to navigate.

Re: the book we'll be in: It has been decided that each of the 50 cryptos and assets will have 6 pages each. As a result, more information will be included (especially about their respective block rewards through time.
6 pages... nice! (^(●●)^)

There should be no reason if your on the right chain. Do a getpeerinfo and see if the majority of your peers are 1.2.x or higher. If not, there is a high likelihood you are on the fork. I would suggest you grab the blockchain bootstrap from the ANN and possibly set yourself to connect only to 1.2.x or higher peers with the connect= directive in your newpiggycoin.conf. You can grab peer IPs from https://chainz.cryptoid.info/piggy/#!network. neurocis.

thanks neurocis.
I am connecting to 1.2.1 nodes, but I got stuck somehow...
I am downloading the bootstrap. What do I do, just drop it in the ./newpiggycoin directory to replace the old blockchain?
it's going to take a bit to download, I wait until tomorrow to move it...any info would be appreciated.
thanks

If the majority of your peers are sub 1.2.x then you will see likely issues with jumping to the incorrect forked chain. The other factor is if you were running 1.1.x or lower during the fork (@ block 415k) your blockchain DB would be the wrong chain. Bootstrap-ing your database is the quickest, or load the chain in the current version. For the bootstrap, extract the .zip, in there is a folder containing the files/folders to REPLACE in your .newpiggycoin folder on *nix (delete or rename/move the files/folders of the same names and drop in those from the .zip). Oink!

yeah, I opened the zip and once I saw what was in there just copied them over...it is still syncing...
Any reason why my balance got reset to zero? There was no wallet.dat in that zip, so I assume it was one of the db's? I have the wallet backed up and will restore it once it has synced but I was confused as why my balance got wiped from copying those files?
anyway thanks for the info, once again

No wallet.dat, no way for the wallet to know what are your balances and probably created a new wallet.dat. They would restore once your backup wallet was imported.

My old PiggyBank wallet (version 1.4) works just fine in the old QT (that won't connect any longer). When I use this old wallet in the new QT (which fully syncs), I have no receiving addresses nor balances... repairwallet says TRUE It's only 100 PIGGY so I don't think it's worth the time to write this, but I like to know none the less Regards, Devvie twitter.com/devnullius

Does the address begin with "p"? If not then it is probably PIG-coin. We can swap them, just PM me the old address and a new one. Thanks for letting us know the wallet did not complain, that is interesting, I suspect it has the same format but does not load the addresses as they do not begin with "p" and technically the wallet is not corrupt for repairwallet.

Old PiggyCoin [PIG] was a PoW coin. It had addresses beginning with 6 perhaps. It was replaced by New PiggyCoin [PIGGY]. There was a swap ;8] PIGGY addresses begin with a p. Poloniex are trading PIGGY now, not PIG!

Got a question/suggestion regarding getting Piggycoin into schools. It seems to me like dev work has been more or less along the lines of trying to build features into the coin, client software and piggycoin website that we think will make it usable for educators. But has anyone had any success in talking to educators who might be open to Piggycoin, to learn what features THEY consider vital or very helpful? It might open our eyes to things we're missing, or at least clarify the issues that are slowing down cryptocurrency education.
We could start polling teachers we know, asking what they'd really like to have, and put together a to-do list based on the feedback. It might turn out to be some really simple stuff, like ready-made quizzes/tests with answer keys, a collection of helpful beginner links for learning about crypto, and other simple educational aids.
And if they give responses like "We don't see why it's important" or "it's too complicated for us" or "crypto is just for buying illegal stuff" then we can develop marketing tools and materials to address the objections and win people over.
