How about listing the Cryptopia exchange in the announcement post on the first page of this thread, since it handles Piggycoin?

Well there's some NSFW stuff on there so I was wondering about how to do it, and whether or not to link to it from the piggy-coin.com site too (Parents/About page, at bottom).

I think I should link to my post about it on BitcoinTalk, which would at least give a warning before users continue.  What do you think?

I'd defer to your judgement - the times I've visited the site I didn't notice/run across anything more objectionable than a list of coin names. But I wasn't looking for trouble either, so to speak. I guess my assumption is that the people using the exchanges are overwhelmingly likely to be adults so it's less of a concern at this point. But I'm glad you're keeping that sort of thing in mind. :-)

Thanks; as usual it fixed itself after a few hours. In each case the discrepancy is many hundreds or a few thousand blocks, so it's not a case of going down a short fork or something like that. Hopefully it's nothing significant but I thought I'd point it out.

Hi ebeliever, I am not seeing that but most of the team is testing 1.2.2.0 now. I would like to get a copy of your debug.log next time it happens to take a look at it if possible (zip it up first), email it to neurocis[at]piggy-coin.com. Thanks!

Just happened again today, so I just sent in my debug log. Hope it helps!

I had another episode of Conflicted stakes for 2+ hours yesterday (probably not related to this), where I had to reboot the client to start getting stakes accepted again. The odd thing about it is that this has happened at least 5 times now, and every time it's happened during work hours (the client is running on my work laptop). That's starting to become statistically significant. But I'm unable to ID anything I was doing at the point when the Conflicts began that would explain it.

It's not a huge issue (I just try to check the transactions before I leave each night to make sure they are being accepted by the network), but I figured I'd mention it.

FWIW the explorer wallet is seeing an increase in the number of orphans https://chainz.cryptoid.info/piggy/#!extraction
The chart is now at the ATH since orphans started being recorded

Thanks fairglu, I am watching this trend with some keen interest as well, stakes are splitting like mad after consolidating at around 50-60K UTXOs. In and around the end of the last plateau I had to take #3 rich off staking. Those coins plus some more will be back on the job in the next 24 hours and I will see the effect. Also seeing some good deltas in timestamps on the blocks, some suspiciously out of sequence, but nothing conclusive of a time-warp. The network is definitely working harder than usual ATM  Shocked .

What's happened now? I was off staking a while Thur/Fri due to a laptop upgrade at work, but was staking again normally by Friday mid-morning (CST) with the 1.2.2 upgrade I'd done a day or two earlier. Things seemed normal on my end, but the orphans chart now shows something is badly out of whack. Hopefully I have nothing to do with it.  Lips sealed

Orphan blocks seem to have dropped now Smiley

I had been staking some official PiggyCoin funds up to some two weeks ago, when I stopped (for safety).  Sounds like neurocis stopped staking some stuff for a while too.  I wonder what effect that had.

Perhaps we need v1.2.2.0 (Operation Sever-Chain) to be more widely-adopted?

Unfortunately I've been really busy with work so haven't been able to do much promotion work.  I'll do a giveaway on CryptoCoinTalk when I get the chance.

Network looks quite good so far; after all this is done PIGGY should focus more on feature development and adoption.

I like all the logos except the P's with the tale on it. I think I "get it" but anyone unfamiliar with Piggycoin would not, and it looks more like a snake than anything.

I agree, I don't like any of the ones on the bottom except the bottom left one.  I personally love the one on the top, second column.

Short notice, but on the Poloniex balances page, there is now the notice:

Quote
On May 20th, Poloniex will require your first name, last name, and country of residence to process withdrawals.

I guess we might get some more people staking  Grin

I would absolutely love to see a game like this played with Piggycoin!

Farm Satoshi is actually very well designed from what I can tell and my eleven year old enjoys playing it (under my supervision). It's a farming game using satoshis as the game unit of currency with the option of cashing out those satoshis to a real wallet.

Can something similar be developed for Piggy with a few changes? The changes that would make the experience even better are:

1. Allow for more than one account per household/IP address. I have more than one child that would enjoy playing.
2. Use PIGGY as unit of currency instead of satoshis--allow cash out to actual PIGGY wallet. Goes without saying but don't tie it to Xapo.
3. Ad free would be nice, but I understand that ads provide revenue, so ads OK. Maybe have an ad free upgrade version you pay for once (with PIGGY of course).
4. Do not make leveling up dependent on gaining referrals. Referral bonuses are OK, but kids should be able to play the game fully without having referrals. The game earnings don't have to be huge either, just positive. The real value of the game is in the learning--it's a nice little lesson on economics.
5. Have a parents' umbrella account which allows for the parents to reward their children for "in real life" accomplishments by sending PIGGY to their game accounts.
6. Allow the parents (both of them) to play too--the game is really fun.
7. Tie in other types of learning within the game, maybe science about the various animals.
8. Expand it to allow for growing crops and other farm economic activities--can also include plant science lessons.

Basically, what I'm suggesting is create a similar quest based learning game as Farm Satoshi with PIGGY as the currency.

How about it?

Good idea. Since I imagine the game should be revenue positive or at least neutral for the game devs, I would assume advertising should be used to support it (to provide funding for the piggycoins earned playing the game), or the ad-free purchase fee you mention.

I haven't actually seen the Farm Satoshi game, but I imagine that one could also have upgrade options (paying for various items/enhancements within the game with Piggycoins) that would also help balance things out.

One neat thing about this idea is that if constructed right, it might be possible to create additional "modules" to the game that provide teaching/instruction on many different topics, without a whole lot of additional effort.

Hmmm - when I sent a transaction to my kids using my Windows wallet, there was a network fee of something like 0.0001 Piggycoin to send the funds. That's pretty cheap! No complaints there.

Tonight I tried the reverse - sending Piggycoins back to my Windows wallet from their online Piggybank. The message that popped up said there would be a fee of 1980 PIGGY to send 130,000 Piggycoins, or 1500 PIGGY to send 100,000 PIGGY. Why the extreme difference compared to sending with the Windows wallet? Is the fee for the online piggybanks getting distributed with the staking, or is it being used to fund something?

I think we decided to just have a flat percentage fee for the online wallet, for simplicity.  That's what the coder wanted to do and we figured we could always change it later, but now unfortunately the coder seems too busy to help us  Sad.

No idea what happens to the fee tbh.  I had a quick search for our discussions on that but couldn't find them.  Maybe neurocis knows.  Or eblieber, if you send us the transaction number, we can have a look on the blockchain and see what fee was paid there.

I was actually thinking it would be cool to make the game modular. So maybe it starts out as a farming game, but over time devs could add other scenarios, such as owning your own restaurant or running a pet shop, and the game player, as a single character, can play whichever scenario he wants, or switch from one to the other. I provided more details about what's in my brain about it in this article called The perfect quest based learning game and there's been some further discussion over at CryptoMoms.

Yes, making it profitable for the developers would be very important Smiley

I would recommend trying out Farm Satoshi as a very basic and simple starting point. At this time, as far as I know, it's the most sophisticated online game where you can earn Bitcoin. It can definitely be improved but it's actually pretty good. At the very least it's the most fun faucet ever.
