Startjoin get their money from fees on projects and sale of shares in the company, not from dumping startcoin. This has been discussed before in the thread, but I understand there is a new group of trolls trying to buy in now.

coins-e is not listed as a valid exchange, maybe they run the old obsolete V 1.0 of startcoin?

I am curious if anyone has tried using a Startcoin paperwallet?  I often like to store some of my coins this way and I am a little confused about how to do this for Startcoin.  It is easy enough to go to StartAddress.org and get some addresses and corresponding private keys but it is very unclear to me how I would take those out of cold storage in the future.  I have a StartCOINv2.0 wallet on my pc and I have clicked everywhere in the program but don't see any tab or mention of Import private key.  I see a export private key tab and that is all.  Anyone have a clue how to import private key?

Also I noticed that when you generate a single wallet, or wallets on the paper wallet tab at startaddress.org you get 52 character private keys that begin with an "e".  I thought I read somewhere that private keys should start with a 9 and have 51 characters.
when you generate a bulk wallet you get private keys with 51 characters and that start with a "9".

Thanks in advance for any insight on this. I suspect I am not the only one who would like to know more about this process

It should be similar as for Bitcoin.

  • Run Startcoin wallet
  • Select Help (to the right of Settings)
  • Select Debug Window
  • Select Console
  • If you encrypted your wallet, unlock it by entering walletpassphrase "YourLongPassphrase" 600 next to the > input box
  • Next to the > input box type importprivkey <bitcoinprivkey>

(copied from here http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/5941/how-do-i-import-a-private-key-into-bitcoin-qt)

Yes, nice to see some rise.  Smiley

(Hopefully not a pump-dump again)

I wonder when the halving will be since the time between blocks have been significantly higher than 60 secs for most of last year. If you look at the graph at the bottom here: http://www.blocktree.io/charts/START and expand to all time it says average 83.609 secs. That means that the time to reach the halving block will be much longer than one year (if it's a particular block).

I briefly looked at the code and found the GetBlockValue() function with the comment "cut in half every 525600 blocks"

If this is in fact the case, we have a while before the mining reward halves.

trolls have come and gone, startcoin remains.  difficult to fight a coin that does real world good instead of merely feeding itself.

I have a question for someone who understands these things better than me. There are several exchanges trading Startcoin, the main one being Bittrex but there is also Justcoin. Now this exchange doesnt seem to have the same structure as others in that it sells Startcoin above the price of Bittrex and they are grouped in chucks of 12000 coins. I have been watching the trading on Justcoin and quite often trades are for in excess of 100,000 coins a day.

The funny thing about it is that you rarely see any one sell any coins to the exchange and if they do they are in small quantities. So my question is where do they get there stock from they must have sold > 500,00 in the last week?

Bittrex and Cryptsy is were the large community of miners, who earn more START coins each day by doing hashing for the blockchain, they sell some of their coins to investor or traders.

These trades come in bits and pieces, because the number of gpus owned by miners does vary a lot.
