Must say the nem client is really stable for harvesting for the first live version. I remember Nxt client did always stop forging to begin with(memory etc...). Expect some GUI and export wallet errors everything good.

I have to say that all those complicated POI or PoA (node) or whatever leads to nothing but messing people's minds and others trying to exploite the system by spamming transactions etc...
The best egalitarian system would be a totally random harvesting, that way people with 10000 or 5000000 balance would have the same chance to find a block, this is such a waste of time man, i can't believe this.
Harvesting is to support the network and gives equal chances to newcomers wtf it seems so obvious. You keep your nems in the hope that it will gain value like bitcoin or any other coins, no need to make it a harvesting ponzi or something and have people shouting that pos related systems are making the rich richer.
Man, this is so simple.
No it is not simple... I believe our devs would have it much easier for them to code a system where every node has the same chance on getting the block... That wouldn't work because if I create a botnet with thousands of computers than i own the NEM. Other route would be to give voting power to each monetary unit - like NXT did - then you have whales who get almost all the forging rewards and also it rewards hoarding NEM is unique because of that Eigentrust model where the importance of each node is constantly calculated and it is most fair and also incentivizes spending and being useful and not just hoarding. Glad to have you asking questions. Please stop by at http://nem.io/ and read more about NEM. EDIT: also equal does not mean fair. There's like 5 lignes on POI in the blog, as if i didn't read that already. Basically it tells me that POI is 90% classic POS with a little piss cat on it like node's PoA, ololz spam transactions to get importance score. I don't mean to trash your work, i now you spend lots of time on POI, refining it etc...But in the end, when people asks about it, answer is oh you know it's a very complicated thing with a lot of parameters. If it's more than just a marketing trick to say we have a whole new algorythm to stand out among other pos systems when there's actually nothing groundbreaking in it, then care to explain in details as answers have always been foggy. People don't have a clear picture. Did you put a ceiling at least on the classic pos side of things ? i.e importance score not increasing anymore above a certain amount of vested balance to avoid nxt syndrom where people with 300000 nxt can't harvest shit, discouraging newcomers. If you did, why it's not specified anywhere. I think i read about that ONE TIME. Yes, one time. To me, nem is good for its distribution, multi-sig, cold wallet, delegated harvesting, upcoming potential features...POI is a foggy mess, don't care so much if it just bring 5% fairness more than nxt in the end. A very complicated thing that can lead to security issues or at least gives a pretext to people like CFB to question it. Just my humble opinion. I just don't see what is so great about POI. Like Node or Crypti, wow we spent countless months on a whole new pos algorythm from scratch peeps that completely change POS approach by a massive 2% instead of working on real marketing and adoption well, enough of that, i said what i had to say. Maybe there some things i don't see about POI, or you just didn't share about the whole plan yet

Hello guys. I have been way from this thread for a few weeks due to an ongoing illness, but i now see that Nem is live on Poloniex!
What do i need to do from here to start trading my NEM? Please advise me. All i have is my token ID which starts with "ae" followed by a number of digits.
I never redeemed my token or traded on the assets exchange and due to illness keeping me away from all of the developments, i have just been sitting on this since i first bought a stake way back at the start of last year.
How do i get my XEM now. As i said, all i have on my end right now is my XEM token code starting with "ae"
Please help

You'll get a new token once extended redemption starts. No exact time for that yet but I'd guess sometime this week.

No need to be a genius to see that more and more people are getting their stake and sell half of it to secure part of their investment, but we're getting close to the point where there's no point to sell anymore (near nxt ae average price), so it will settle eventually. Then probably rebound a bit. well, probably not so soon as new redemption phase is coming and probably more dumps. Traders are not dumb. Hopefully if these people didn't redeem before, they're in for long term and don't intend to dump. Well, most of them at least.

I was unjustly sentenced to sockpuppet and now waiting almost a month if and when i can get my NEM. First was promised that I will get it right after launch, but that was nearly a week ago. When will I get my share?

There has been a small dump as expected on launch, but there is still tons of accounts with the total of 2250000 or more, so lots of people are stil hodl. Things will settle down soon and then volume will increase as we get added to more exchanges.

i think the price will fall to 0,0000050 or below. But it´s ok it´s a fair price. I sold my Stake on NXT AE in June 2014 but i will buy NEM but not to this price.
The good old times are over and NEM must show in the next several month/years what NEM is and where NEM will go in the future.
Congratulations to the Launch but the dump will come.

The only problem is with the exchange, the poloniex was always the one of the smaller ones and the only really high volume there is by coins being arbed... So the price is quite good if we realise that NEM is traded only at geek's exchange with no general public access.

So, since it is a no brainer, you will be a great hero for the NEM community and everyone will literally look up to you from below. Tell you what. Invest $100K, put $42.5K into marketing, invest the balance $57.5K into buying up some XEM, get 3-fold increase, sell XEM and you gain $172.5K. That would be $72.5K, clean into your pocket. Do that consistently and you don't need your Jinn.
Can we see you do it from above? Put the money where your mouth is.
I don't have money. If I had then Jinn wouldn't distribute 10% of its tokens.

It would look strange if NEM had such issues after being developed for that long, wouldn't it?

I am afraid that I have to agree. Unfortunately, NEM is released in the midst of the crypto slump while NXT was released while crypto was peaking when BTC price was over 1000$ and everybody were looking at the next big thing for profit. This fact is a huge game changer!

That has nothing to do with anything. Polo is a decent exchange and if you really want NEM, you can have them in 15 minutes while registering from scratch and buying some. And also, it is not that small: https://www.cryptocoincharts.info/markets/infoIf you are thinking we should get to btc-e or some other big BTC exchange, that you can forget!

Once we will start making them public, well, I guess 100 sats will bee history. Next week we will be making one first such announcement in a series of many. Stay tuned.

I don't have money. If I had then Jinn wouldn't distribute 10% of its tokens. So you are trying to leverage on NEM's POI to get an edge with JINN, so that the 10% token distribution can stretch you much further? I thought you were a big boy in NXT and you should have at least a handsome few 10s of million NXT. All gone now? Perhaps you should weigh your priority now between firing your staff and putting the money on a sure winner in NEM's marketing. You will be a hero here in NEMsphere. All of us will be very thankful to you. If I were to know that it is going to push my $100K to $172.5K, I will beg, borrow or steal to get going with it. No more champagne and Jacuzzi with pretty women. That should take a back seat. No?
