Can I upgrade by installing the NEM client from the official website? Yes, but as usual I'd advise to remove the old version completely first. Trying a dirty install won't hurt though. but that's scary then I have to use my back up, or temporarily move my xem to my bittrex account?

trying a dirty install first, see how it works out, otherwise I can always install it fresh after all

I'd like to point out that the light wallet supports brainwallets. So now there is no reason to store all your XEM at an exchange anymore because you wanna be "mobile". Not that I actually believed that to be the reason for anyone to keep their XEM on an exchange but I wanted to point it out anyway.
The light wallet is still very much experimental but personally I'd encourage everyone that had problems with NCC to give it a bash. All you need is NIS. It serves the light wallet on port 7777.
You should be able to use the lightwallet on any NIS you know the address of without any security concerns. All signing is done in js on your local machine in your browser and no sensitve data travels over the wire. Of course people running their own NODEs can block that port if they don't like that.
Devs have done a really great job !

That's when this function will be available. As for NCC availability, wait for further news. Probably another ninja will surface, too.

The old version worked.
I have uninstalled it and installed the new. Now I get this message and do not know what to do:
NIS needs to be booted. Please open your wallet and boot a local node via the popup dialog or configure the auto-boot setting. (at block 396489). Any help?

Happy 2016 and 0.6.72 The new lightwallet on http://127.0.0.1:7777 is fast. Also the confirmation ding is a nice touch.

Try this from the dropdown: The user experience of NCC is being worked on by mix and rev (I think). At the moment it's suboptimal to say the least.

Try this from the dropdown: I am not logged in. Before the surface to login this yellow bar comes with the text above. So there is no dropdown or menu.

How can i open the wallet if there is no menu or something?
Edit: problem solved. I have deleted the ncc.cfg in the nis-folder and got the login.

Ok upgraded to 6.72 everything works fine in NCC! Question on how to exactly get the Lightwallet up and running? I only run NCC, so I thought if just NIS is running I should be able to load it. But when I go to 127.0.0.1:7777 is says "checking (nis not booted yet)" so can't create any account?

you have two options, either: a) boot it via NCC, or b) provide the key via config-user.properties (covered here: http://blog.nem.io/nis-auto-start-and-auto-harvest/)

Ive been trying to find a new node for delegated harvesting and ive noticed that nemnodes.org is showing no active nodes. This is a little weird? There must be something up with the website?
