Sorry for my noob question but I m not tech astute. Does it mean that if I rent a rig I would have more or less 20-21 BTM each day, right ( it mines only in the pool)?
I was watching at nicehash but if someone would suggest me a better service for rent a rig it will be appreciated ( and a pool with the related port, I don't see it in the OP)

thanks again

At current difficulty you will roughly mine about 20 BTM / 1MH / Day (+/- 7 BTM)

Thanks. At the current rate, 1 day renting scrypt rig is about 0.77 a day. It means that I should pay 0.77 BTC to receive more or less a total amount of 7 BTM daily?
I hope I m wrong  Cry

Perhaps I confused you further...check out Betarigs (https://www.betarigs.com/list?miner_type=1). There you will see the cost of renting a rig at different hash rates

New Wiki Page: Solo Mining

Following multiple queries as to how to set up solo mining, I have finally managed to document Solo Mining on the Wiki.

If there are any questions or clarifications required please ask.

Proving the theory

Part of the rationale behind Bitmark's Block Chain configuration is the notion that more rewards per day will create a healthier network.

I have proved the theory twice myself already, and now I've challenged a small solo miner to help me prove it also.

He has 1.7 MH/s, and is therefore on the edge of luck. By the average network hashrate he should manage marginally over 1 block per day. Since you can only find complete blocks, this means he will get 20 or 40 BTM per day, 1 or 2 blocks. If he mined on a pool he would generate 20-21 BTM each day, by taking this challenge we can prove if solo mining is viable, and if our theory is sound.

The challenge I have set him is to see how lucky he is, he will mine for exactly 24 hours and report back as to how many blocks he finds. I will double whatever rewards he gets for doing this challenge.

getMarked Funding Goal: 0.9/8 BTC, with 1.15 BTC pledged.

With 1.7mhs i am filling like mouse....

Mining Calculator

After seeing this discussion I've put together a quick mining calculator: http://bitmark.co/miningspeed

I'll make it nicer at a later date, add in any network hash speed in MH/s and click calculate.

update: fixed

getMarked icon design, feedback request

Quote
<MarkPfennig> getMarked needs a small icon
<MarkPfennig> it will be used everywhere on the web, where ever you see a small heart, or a like, or an up arrow
<MarkPfennig> sometimes the symbol will be the only thing
<MarkPfennig> think of...
<MarkPfennig> the youtube thumb
<Allow> ok
<MarkPfennig> the vimeo and soundcloud heart
<MarkPfennig> the reddit up arrow
<MarkPfennig> it is to be a small icon that may potentially be on every website in the world
<MarkPfennig> so it must be simple, clear, and generic.. it is to represent "give reputation" or "give karma" or "give a small amount of money" or "like this"
<MarkPfennig> the icon should express those thoughts
<Allow> maybe a "M" with double stripes left and right?"

I have agreed with Allow and asked him to create a visual proposal of this, does everybody agree?

Have to see it but personally i would  prefer a positive/impulsive symbol. Double stripes = "pay for"  but with "marking" i want to push/ support someone = lot´s of emotions. In exaggerated words: I would give you a "thumb" in youtube but never a "heart" in soundcloud.  Roll Eyes
On the other hand i don´t know which symbol we could use. So yeah - M with stripes is fine Wink

I think the icon should include a check mark symbol as someone has proposed before.

Last question: actually my mined stake is " unconfirmed".. Will it be confirmed at the end of the renting period?

BTM takes 721 Blocks to mature, roughly 1 Day.

The rationale for this decision is can be found on the wiki.

Impressive work! Sometimes its so complicated to follow the discussions in this kind of board, If you for any reason dissapear for 1 day you have to go back a couple of pages to get back in track!

I also agree with the M and double stripes proposal, I do agree with Zandinga that it should or could include a checkmark.

Bitmark's Value
A currency with no initial price tag, and which earns value over time? No exchange? What is it's value?

8 separate partnerships have been formed to set up businesses and services around Bitmark and getMarked.

Most members of the community are discussing Marking with their real world friends who have no interesting in crypto currency, several of them have suggested to set up businesses around it, asked for help to set up mining rigs, or are discussing ideas for things to be built on getMarked and have approached me to ask if I can help with integration. These are real people who do not know crypto, sitting over lunch or beer being inspired.

3 individuals have committed themselves to earning and creating their own full time job within the Bitmark foundation, several others are considering it.

I have reached out to enquire about services to 4 medium to large real world businesses, all of them have taken a great interest in the project and are emailing me daily to discuss what they can do to support and how they can be involved.

60 or more miners are on the network full time, only to acquire bitmarks, and to take all profit in bitmarks not other currencies. 2 professional mining syndicates have committed to support the network and take all profit in BTM. No Bitmarks have been sold.

The community members directly in contact with me daily or bi-daily who are creating things for or on bitmark now number more than 40. With 15-20 spending all their available time focussed on the project and it's offshoots. Nearly every person who has messaged or posted is now involved in some capacity.

Every one of these people, apart from some minor exceptions, plan to use Marks as currency, and also reputation. They are focussed on increasing it's usefulness, using it with others they know in real life and in multiple communities, and can see many ways for them to use it in various avenues of their life.

We are 13 days in to the project.

Now, let me ask you a question, how can this enable you to do something you will enjoy doing? Where will you enjoy using it? Read it and see if you become inspired, then let us know and we will support you in achieving your goals in every way we can.

If you are deeply engrained in the current alternative coin sector, a miner, trader, or investor, maybe our IPM Proposal can be applied to your interests?

Outside of this project there are other issues, for example helping our communities to work with government imposed firewalls.

getMarked Funding Goal: 1.11 of 8 BTC, with 1.05 BTC pledged - Get (bit)marks and help make them more useful!
