Since there is only 2 pcie cables.. Which adaptors would I get to make 4? Should I get two sata to pcie or?
Thank you!

You only need two cables. Not really sure why there are 4 sockets. Mine all run at 490GH/s or better at 250. Each with just 2 cables plugged in and each with a corsair m750cx.

But I'm going to be running it with a evga 500w 80 plus..
Shouldn't I have all 4 plugged in?

You will NOT need to use all 4 power connectors...in my experience setting up around 30 S3 so far every single one worked better using 2 connectors instead of 4, and that was apparent within the first hour or less
You MAY need to swap the power connector port if you get an x or - on a blade and if that fails then open it up and check the grease, but don't waste your time using 4 connectors if the dc/dc converters are weak, throwing more power through them is the LAST thing u want to do

I am impatiently waiting for BITMAIN to release a firmware which is not such garbage and clearly very rushed so much that nothing works properly

OK I'll over clock my s3 with the evga 500 with only 2 connections and hopefully I don't burn the house down.

The key to that is IF your machine happens to overclock...not all do unfortunately luck of the draw...you have more of a chance burning the house down using 4 connectors on a sub-par power supply IMO

Ok, so all four of my miners are up and I am in the webui to configure them. Whats the default PW ?

Want to let these run stock for 24hrs to see where we sit with hash etc.

SO Does changing the freq actually void the warranty?

Can someone from BITMAIN reply on this.  Thx.

I would always like faster but if the warranty is void it is not worth it.

Fahlcor

What warranty? I used to think there was one until I tried to RMA with Bitmain. I buy from resellers now because a lot of them will warranty miner through their own shop.

Again, just monitor your PCIe cables for a few hours or more to see if they get hot to the touch before deciding to leave them unattended.

Reset button right next to the LEDs.  What's a "collo guy" anyway?  Smiley

Holy smokes these AntMiner S3s are popular. We just sold our 200th S3 and it's only been 22 days since receiving our first batch (includes Amazon sales). Bitmain has got to be one of the most profitable mining manufacturers ever.

Amazing, you buy from bitmain, then jack up the price to sell to people who don't know better...helluva guy.

Most of our customers just want to use credit cards. We never hide the true manufacturer or how easy it is to buy direct. We're meeting a demand that isn't being met elsewhere.

If I were you I wouldn't peddle these miners here, most people in this thread are smarter than that. There is also a glaring violation of Amazon T&Cs (I'll let you figure that out for yourself), so you probably won't last long there.

You're right, I'll remove my posts. Regardless, I am impressed by the demand for these.

You only need two cables. Not really sure why there are 4 sockets. Mine all run at 490GH/s or better at 250. Each with just 2 cables plugged in and each with a corsair m750cx.

1. did you connect another miner to 2 remaining connectors? If not, what's the advantage?
2. how stable are they at 250mhz? I have a couple S3 that do great on 237.5 and was thinking of upping them to 250. Thanks.

Not sure if there is any advantage by using 2 connectors - maybe uses less power? I suppose the question should really be - why would you want to use 4 when 2 will do?

I notice an x on 1 of the 4 miners every now and then - especially when the weather is hot - but it still mines at 490 GH/s even with the x. After I reboot it it's 502 GH/s. The other three are 490, 494 and 501 with no x's.
