Expecting answers from those who applied thermal paste on front side of S3.
How much qty was required for both blades?Which paste is used, a link will be helpful.
On a side note, I tried setting cgminer queue to 16 and my s3 slowly decreased hash rate to 428.
Changed it back to 4096 and now hashing at 438Ghs

Guys 10,000 RPM is impossible.  I have high RPM PC fans that size and I think they run at 2000 RPM. Not even sure I believe 4000RPM fan speed.  That's what the small GPU fans on a 290x run at, 4000RPM and they are very loud.

Take the blue (PWM) wire from the fan connector if you are curious and see what you get. You will not get 10K but you will get just below 4K.

Pretty much everyone who tried did not get any benefit (almost). One miner that I wanted to "fix" reports exactly the same numbers.
Besides whatever paste (I am NOT going there), you'll need a cleaning liquid or 99%+ isopropanol that is not available at Walgreens (you'll have to order it online).
I know that it goes against the belief that you can always improve tech by tinkering, but S3 so far resisted everything I tried (cooling with extra fans, running it "naked" with or without extra fans, cleaning sloppily applied paste, trying to move to higher mhz, lower or higher ambient temperature).

Doing it as per bitmaintech engineer advice to fix a lower than stock hash speed miner.
Hope the guys who tried it can put some light on the post, just qty and brand/link.

Are people happy with their S3 units on p2pool?

If you're on p2pool, are you using the stock queue option (4096) or did you change it?

I'm very happy with the performance of my S3s on p2pool so far, my second batch is arriving today and will pointed at p2pool without a doubt.

Its just a better pool Smiley

I have been testing the queue set to 1 on a single machine, after 21 hours the results are as follows:

queue=1 error rate:       0.00086971453%
queue=4096 error rate:  0.00180255332 %

It is worth noting that both of these are impressively low, I'll keep testing with a couple more machines, but I'm 99% confident queue =1 is the way to go.

Thanks for getting back to me. That's helpful.

I'm interested in trying your p2pool. I'm seeing ping times of about 75 ms, which your site says is "Looking good". But it feels a bit on the high side to me.

I'm in California. Do you have plans to provide a US west coast node?

Was I helpful?   BTC: 3G1Ubof5u8K9iJkM8We2f3amYZgGVdvpHr

the problem is 440gh using 340 watts for .68 btc is the best price anyone offers.. on the bright side  when coins dropped to 562 used I purchased 1.4 btc.  i could sell  and grab a profit

zig. your logic is retarded. they arent robbing anyone if you're (the customers) willingly paying the price of the product.

"herp derp its too expensive"...... then dont fucking buy it guy, its that easy mate., why are you spamming the thread thats about discussion and support and all you say is they are robbing you , dont buy it its too expensive. what am i missingo?? or is it because you just like to complain???

The only retarded here is YOU... Grin

all I am trying to ...is shed more light on what is going on...the FACTS...the TRUTH...

I bought B1 in first 2 minutes...but I am not buying anything right now...Did I say "BUY / DON"T BUY"...NO...

I said..."LOWER your price, BitMain"...because you are mining and it is not fair to your customers ...Capisco... Huh

BTW...I don't neet to explain anything to you...feel free to do whatever you think...like...etc...

If you don't find any valuable info in my post(s) ...feel free to use "ignore"... Grin

EDIT ...: as you CAN see...if you are not blind...I use "US"...not "me"...

BitMain is fine...Retards like you are NOT...

Hello Guys.

The S3 only need plug 2 PCIe without OC (218Mhz). One for side Righ and one for left side. But, if you would like do some OC in the chips, for example 225Mhz or 237Mhz, if is necessary connect the 4 cables of PCIe?.

I good like use the Power supply Corsair RM1000 for 2 units of S3 Bath 4.

And yes, I was read that any people have problems and they do undercooking to 212Mhz. Any pleople connect the 4 Cables with OC or without OC, please?

Thank you in advanced.

Regards.
Antuam

A lot of people are having issues with 4 cables. I have 1 unit that is over-clocked to 250mhz hashing at 500GH/s with only 2 cables attached to the network port side of the unit, on a corsair CX500W. It has been doing well for a couple of days now.  The other unit will only run at 440GH/s at best,  and has been dropping hash rate on me every day or 2 until I reboot. I also has one blade that runs 4 degrees cooler than the other for some reason.  I may have to open it up and try to find out why.

some report that as long as you have it close to your router it works without a antenna.

google delta 10k rpm fan.

Not saying these fans aren't glitching. But these do exist.

They do indeed exist, I used to have 1. This fan at 100% is actually as loud as an Aircraft engine, No joke Cheesy

One of the gas stations I drove by today had gas $.05 higher than the other gas stations. And this is after raising prices since last week! What are they trying to do, rip us off? How can I afford to drive to work if they are charging so much for gas!? They really need to rethink their pricing strategy and think about what they are doing to those of us who commute regularly and need to buy gas.

Previous post several pages back.

Ha, I had 35-40 laptop antenna's I threw out a few months ago when I moved. Oh well, anyone who has access to an old scrap laptop could pull one out of there.

So....anyway...for those of you that offered meaningful advice...thank you.  I ordered some of these

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DP64JRG/ref=ox_ya_os_product_refresh_T1

And will let you know what they do for WiFi reception when I get batch 5 miners and install.  The U.fl pigtails and antenna combo is ridiculously inexpensive, so I figured I'f give them a whirl and share what happens on the forum.

Just had a rather odd situation occur...
One of my B1 S3s, running latest firmware decided to go beep crazy. Normally I'll get a beep or two and it'l stop, but this time it wouldn't.
Syslog showed the following:

Sat Aug  2 07:48:20 2014 kern.err kernel: [ 6775.520000] hub 1-1:1.0: Cannot enable port 1.  Maybe the USB cable is bad?

Issued a reset to CGMiner and it came back online, but anyone out there have any ideas what might have caused a USB issue on these? In theory it shouldn't be possible, as the whole USB infrastructure is on the mainboard (no loose plugs or anything).

Probably should put something here.... Maybe an LTC address?

Those pigtails and antennas should work perfectly. Three out of four of my S3s are on Wifi with antennas and pigtails fitted, I have found drilling the hole for the RP-SMA antenna to be a bit of work though, those cases are remarkably thick and tough!
