It's not burning but it's hot and not warm.  In fact, it got hot within a minute after it started hashing.  It'd probably be OK but I wouldn't leave it running unattended though.
it's probably better to use CX750M anyway.
A CX750 for a single S3 at stock clock is overkill IMO; even for an OC'd one.  If it's a good deal, sure, why not?  I think it has already been affirmed by someone in here who successfully OC'd an S3 with a CX500 with no issues.

At 85% efficiency, the CX500 with an 80% load (20% headroom) on its single +12V rail draws around 429W at the wall.  Though I don't intend to permanently run my S3s OC'd, I will be testing it sometime and will post my results.  I just hope I have the "lucky" units.
My CX600 cables got warm too when I tried to put a 250mhz S3 on it. I went back to the CX500 as the cables are much better quality.

One of my units will only hash at 440 which is fine.
The other is OC'ed to 250mhz hashing at 500GH/s for a few days now, without issue,  on the CX500 with only 2 cables.

Not feasible for me as my controller board's Ethernet interface is completely dead - so it's not even possible to get into it with the default IP address to configure anything let alone see the logs.

Other people have comparatively minor issues and at least get some hashing out of their units.  Mine is completely dead in the water going on a week now, extending to at least another week.

I have 3 S1 units, and thought about swapping the controller from them, but they're still profitable and I don't want to muck anything up that is actually still running.

BITMAIN - PLEASE JUST SEND REPLACEMENT BOARDS TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM AND HAVE ESTABLISHED THAT IS THEIR PROBLEM.  WAITING 2+ WEEKS FOR A SOLUTION KILLS OUR PROFITABILITY.

But apparently the only thing that seems to matter to them is their own profitability.

You could try the wifi.  If you place your S3s right next to your router,  your router should see them.

And how do I configure the wifi if I can't even log in via the Ethernet interface?

There is no link on the ethernet port, and the wifi is disabled by default so there is no way to get into the board to give it any alternate configuration.
Good point. Have you looked for damage to it? Maybe it could be repaired with a little sodder.

Bitmain,

Could you let us know about the upgrade kits for S1s and S2s? When will these be available? I'd like to upgrade all of my S1s. Also, will the DC/DC component be fixed in these?

I had a look.  Nothing different between that board and the other 2 controllers on the other units. I also tried playing with the reset button but that didn't have any effect.

My B3 units are veritable lemons, I need to restart them every 1/2 hour to keep it over 400gh. My B5 units are all hashing 440gh at stock clocks after 4.5 hours.

Mine was almost doing the same, hashrate dropping as it warmed up, until I dropped the clock speed to 212.5. The hashrate went up slightly to now a steady 425 GH. Perhaps in doing so it kept the temperatures down and that keeps the chips stable.

I have had mine running now for 24 hours without having to restart it every couple of hours.

5 Hours in and they are still up. Stock clocks 442 gh/s each in the webui. Mining on WestHash.com (The North American version of NiceHash)

WestHash is showing 930 GH/s avg 5 min accepted speed. No rejects

Looking at the graphs on WestHash...and it looks like it running between 890 gh/s to 1000 gh/s

Firmware is 7-28-2014

Temps 40-43

I might try to overclock in a week. Gonna let these burn in and join the other 2 units later this week.

Bitmain you rock!

But damn if only there was a wifi antennae built into these suckers....

Just got my first two antminer s3 and just got them set up. So far they hashing at 450 gh/s avg with jumps to 500 gh/s with a avg on nicehash at 950 gh/s for both of them. It's only been 2 hours. I got them at stock clocks.

Nothing below 440 gh/s yet...looks like batch 5 is solid like a rock!

Thanks bitmain!

Also my second batch already shipped! Should have it Wednesday.

Folks use DHL if you are in the USA or Canada!

DHL rocks!

Sucks that you don't answer PM's or respond to quotes in the current thread.  Cool

I can't get back to the antminer s3 interface!  I got one of my miners up and hashing because i set it to run on dhcp. So when i plugged it into my netgear switch it started hashing on btcguild like i set up, but i cant get back to its interface either.

I had to configure my ip address bc im on a 10.8.xxx.xxx ip.  When i changed the static address to match my network i can not connect back to make changes in the interface on the first miner i set up. I have not been able to log the cg mining interface back through my web browser to make any changes, point my miner in the direction of my pool, etc.  PLEASE HELP

There is a small reset on on the front of the S3.  Use a paper clip and hold it for 5 secs or so.  That should reset the device back to factory settings and you can then log in @ 192.168.1.99

Make sure you restart/reboot the miner.  Also restart computer and router.

Nothing.  I emailed Bitmain with a screen shot of what I set up so maybe that will help.  Luckily i took a pic with my phone. Im sure it is really easy, and it would be but im setting this up at work (free power) with the different 10.x.xxx.xxx address which has complicated it for me. Now i cant get back into settings, ughhh

My apologies. Not how i meant that to come across. But setting it up there is whats causing me problems with login and figuring out how to configure the miner to even run for me and point it to my pool

I got an issue with one of my S3s. It does not hash at all. I can connect to it no problem. This one appears to have an issue where the unit does not hash at all. All the settings are identical to the other ones (minus the IP addresses which are statically assigned. I can connect to it from within my lan to get to the web interface. cgminer appears to be running but not hashing. Anyone run into this? It seems like it would be a quick fix. Thanks
