Since we have 229 pages of the exact same power supply questions and answers, we probably should start a discussion about which one of the two sets of slotts on the wall outlet we should plug the power supply in. Top or bottom? Please try to read a little before typing. Thanks

Well, it beats the coupon buying/selling/donating discussion which was going on for pages and pages.
Once all newbs get their machines, discussion will turn to speed, price, etc.

Can anyone recommend a PSU for these things? Can I use 3 connectors cos I only like odd numbers?

Any recommendation on such PCIe splitters? With three S3 on one EVGA1300 with 8 separate PCIe cables that means I could run two S3 on stock frequency with just 2 cables each, and one S3 overclocked with 4 cables attached. Doesn't seem to be a bad plan neither.  Wink
PCI-e splitters:
http://www.amazon.com/JacobsParts-Express-Power-Splitter-Cable/dp/B00JLU0UQ4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1407605034
or
http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-PCIEXSPLIT6-6-Inch-Express-Splitter/dp/B004NNTVT6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1407605034
both have 18awg wires. I got startech, expecting delivery of 2 more S3, will try using them on my evga (split the single cords) to try and run 3 overclocked ants on a single EVGA1300. Power-wise it should work.

OK, I have access to the StarTech splitter. The product info says it's 6 inch long (whereas the JacobsParts would be 8 inch). Long enough?

Does it matter which two of the four connectors on a S3 you use the splitters on (splitting on same board or splitting between the two boards)?

Three overclocked S3 on one EVGA1300 is tempting.

the distance between connectors is ~4in (on opposite boards) to 2.5in (same board), so 6in is plenty.
i would use the splitter on the same board, but i don't think it matters on single rail systems such as evga1300, cx750m, cx500m, etc.

The LEPA P1700 Modular is a very powerful power supply having 6 +12V rails.
Two of the +12V rails are rated for 20A each and so with will give 12V*20A = 240W each rail.
The other four +12V rails individually rated for 30A which means 30*12=360W each.
A single S3 blade need 180+ Watts atleast. With this PSU we can connect the 20A 2 rails to two blade maximum.
Then the next 360W rail may not be enough for 2 blades and so we need to connect the 360W to one blade each.
Inshort 1 S3 can be powered with 2 rails and another 2 S3s can be connected with the other 4 rails.
Which means we can connect a maximum of 3 S3-es in that Power supply.
For three S3 there are a lot of other options and this one is too expensive.
I think that PSU is not targetted to asic miners.

I want to publicly thank BITMAIN for being the absolute best, most reliable ASIC miner manufacturer on the market. I am scared to think of how awful purchasing mining equipment would be without a company like BITMAIN that actually offers miners that can make a ROI and doesn't require you to wait months on end with silly pre-orders. I can't think of any ASIC manufacturer other than BITMAIN who hasn't used the "pre-order" option, and the fact that BITMAIN can actually provide miners for a reasonable price and ship them to you within a reasonable period of time is great for the buyers in this market, as it gives other ASIC manufacturer's incentive not to use the "pre-order" BS that has been such a pain in the ass for so many people. Keep up the good work.
I hope you guys continue to thrive and be the best example of how an ASIC manufacturer should practice business.

Excuse me but we did pre-order ( batch 1 ) and we got a machine that hash's at less than advertised speed . Hench the rebate given to the customers.
So lets not put Bitmain up for sainthood just yet.

This has only two 30A connectors but one supports 240V.  Can I use a splitter on it so I can have 3 connectors?  It also has four 120V outlets.  If I only use two of them, in what configuration should I do it?  Left side only, right side only, top only, bottom only, top-to-bottom diagonal or bottom-to-top diagonal?  So sorry.  So confused.  Love you long time, Joe!

Let's try this one more time but with images... here's what my four S3's look like after a lil over 24hrs. Looks like I go lucky and got ones that run fine at stock all around or just over 440gh/s. That being said, two of them have high HW numbers, best I can tell from he math done, the two with high figures are under 0.008 and the lower two under 0.002. So these would all be considered ok and nothing to worry about then, right ?

To be decided...

Is there any advantage, other than tracking, to make multiple workers at a pool? Such as 1 per S3 or 1 per S1. Or is it just as well to have all your miners using the same worker?

That is a great PSU.  However it will only run with a prime number of miners connected to it.  Only use the 120 volt connection (you get more amps that way) and run it inside during the winter (for the added benefit of heat).

It is loud when I run it inside.  I think that is why I have a headache...
