Whats the "best" altcoin for right now ??

This is really the wrong forum for this kind of question. But let me answer anyways, lol.

I have "mined" NXT with SHA ASICs in the past and did very well. I say "mined" in quotes because you can't directly mine NXT since it's POS not POW. Essentially you mine at a multipool (hashrate.org) that mines other SHA coins and then exchanges them for NXT.

I didn't wanna start a big discussion about altcoins here!
I just was curious what y'all was "mining".

I'm still in at BTC with my S1/S3/X-1 :-)

still BTC sir
lately, the jump on the diff. quite small
so its still the best choice to mine BTC directly

Hey

Anyone run their s3 on their sides and stacked?

Any issues?

Yes, 2 if them and I've noticed no change in anything by putting them on their sides.

One of my S3 Antminers is not mining!

I mean it's mining at 0.5 GH/s or so!!!

Also the Fan speed of both blades is very huge!!!

Any clue what's wrong with it?

I would open the unit, check the connections, and inspect the boards.
If you don't find anything, I would re-flash the firmware.
You can also try turning the unit on and off, and reboots from the GUI.

My B6 (shipping date 12 Aug) shows shipped. Paid last Friday. B6 is not sold out. S3 sales slowing down or production ramping up?

I don't know about the production, but you can bet the sales are slowing down. Counting current diff increase trend 0.66 BTC per miner may very likely never been mined out of them. Probably expect serious BTC miner price reduction for Batch #7.

Just received 1 of my 2 S3, batch 4.

They were delivered on 31 July, i chose EMS.

I had to pay nothing for the 1st S3 that arrived, the other one still on customs since 8th August. 1 s3 was released, the other one not. Wth... xD

And im from spain, europe. I had to pay customs using UPS, but with EMS(like i told you), didnt have to pay for first one that arrived. lets see what happens with the other one..... i dont understand they release one S3 and the other one not Angry Angry

Is anyone really earning Bitcoin? How successful are you guys with these ant miners S3s? Are you getting $200 per mouth like the mining calculator states. I would like to invest in a ant miner S3. Do you guy recommend it? Any advice?

After extensive research and calculations in the last couple of days I'd say forget it unless you have free energy (which is stupid, as there is no free energy). The general consensus right now is to buy BTC directly and let them sit instead of thinking that such small scale mining results in anything or even ROI.

if you:

 A) have a suitable psu
 B) have low cost power  11 cents or 12 cents
 C) have the internet hookup
 D) don't pay tax on it  EU  pays  USA does not

I believe you can make money.

A breakdown on 2 at .66 or 1.32 btc with current usd price per coin of 582  and diff jumps of 15%

this shows a profit  I used 15% diff jumps I am predicting 10-12% .

If you buy psu's buy cat 5 cables buy ethernet switches  profit is tough.

I did exactly all you told!
Inspected everything and no problem found FYI the unit was mining for several days normally but start to act like that from last night.
I also changed the control unit with a new one but same thing happen.

Last thing that I did was removing one blade and now the unit is working half load with one blade.

So seems that one blade had problem.

one of my miners after 12-24 hours always shows a 15% slow down. No dead chips. A reboot fixes it.

after another 12 hours it shows that a chip dies, also reboot fixes it. Its the only s3 out of the 4 i have that does this.

Anyone else have exp with this? Huh

Which is your PSU model? How many S3-s connected in that psu?
Normally after some days it will become stabilise at 440Ghs.
If its not working even after some days, do a thermal paste replacement.
After thermal paste replacement it will possibly be stable in 1 or 2 days.
But before that lets us check your PSU.

Its running on a corsair ax760 like all my other ones. This is the only one with any sort of problem.
What thermal paste should I be replacing?

While I like and agree that  https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty has the likely info as it bases the information it shows on the actual hash rate over 504 blocks like the block chain does.

But

http://www.coinwarz.com/network-hashrate-charts/bitcoin-network-hashrate-chart at least shows you the actual current hash rate of the network.  Until we get farther along let us hope that whoever is "testing" hardware for shipment turns it off before we reach the last 504 blocks so it can drop the difficulty rates back to 4-6%.

But if that is the case then we need to realize that there is at least that much potential in the network to bring it up again. Also some of the older boxes out there are becoming not profitable as the diff increases so some of those boxes that are higher power consumers might be getting turned off.  But winter will be here soon enough in NA and those who use them as house heaters will likely leave them on.

Just my perspective.

If I was seeing the difficulty doing what it is today I don't think I would buy the 12 ants that I did and have hashing again.  ROI for me is gonna be tough as it is and I already have them hashing.  Nevermind ordering today and only getting them by the next difficulty level.  If the difficulty stays @ 12% I will break even with ants/PSU's/switches/cables.  I need to find some of that free power stuff that was mentioned above.  Wink

shows you the actual current hash rate of the network

Such a thing doesn't exist. All these hashrates are estimates based on blocks found. BitcoinWisdom at least tells you how many blocks they average, I don't see CoinWarz disclosing that anywhere.

I've put in an email on my bookmarked Bitmain link. I asked if they would sell me some miners for USD bank transfer. I'll let you know what they say. Also, those emails you have sound like them, those are the questions they always ask me.

Ok,thanks.

Hi reactor77, I sent an email and they confirmed they take USD bank wire. I can tell u from past it does take time with a bank wire to go through fully. I'm sure yours will get processed and miner will ship soon.
