Anyone else see the upgrade kits available?  Thoughts?

The upgrade is almost 80% the cost of a new S3+. Doesn't seem like a good deal to me...
What did you expect? You have to swap out the most expensive parts and keep/re-use only a few fairly cheap parts.

Update....the latest firmware is a disaster on my miners...I don't like how the asic frequencies are only read from the rom (read only) for starters...the clock selections defaulting to 237.5 was the first sign, along with the other details I mentioned in the first post I made regarding this new firmware..back to 0721 for me and I don't get x's on stock like I do with the new firmware...all in all I think its a piece of junk and should be pulled from bitmain site...and what is the deal with the july 28 firmware...I had it on a few of my ants and now its gone due to the flash "upgrade" downgrade...I cant honestly see any benefit from having the latest August firmware...and for those who will say it helps with overclocking...if that is the help you need to overclock, please quit while you are ahead  Roll Eyes

interesting observations and thanks for sharing. I just saw the firmware update on the site and downloaded but now hesitant to update.

Anyone out there that updated and had no issues?

I put on 4 of my early batch miners and it really made no difference on 3 but the 4th is averaging around 475 on the 237.5 and I am only running 2/4 pce connectors. The other actually were lower on the 237.5 and are averaging the same on the 218.75 freq as they were before. One thing I don't like is that it will not work with antMonitor anymore. If he doesn't put out a fix quickly I will probably take them back as the difference isn't worth loosing the monitoring.

I think the key with the new firmware is that it seems like immediately after the flash, there is no frequency set. So, you'll get like 100gh/s, or some nonsense.

I just hit save and apply at the 237 frequency. And, so far they've all increased. I have 2 running at 450 gh/s, 2 running at 475 gh/s and my slacker is still at 440 gh/s.

Other then that, electricity isn't too much of a concern to me, so you're results might need different adjustments then mine.

Disclaimer: all these numbers are increases over previous settings. My slacker has an X that no matter what I have done it is always there, or always pops back up. Cost me about ~ 5% hash speed since the start, (its a batch 1).

For a limited time this pool is currently open to the public mining community. There are no fees and a 12.5% bonus is paid out on all bitcoins mined.

Totally not a scam.

Yup not a scam at all, 12.5 % bonus AND there is also a tread that he says he`s giving away 1 free S3 every day for august. ya right.

Is it a scam or?
I mine there and the BTC payments have hit my wallet.

Edit: Paying PPS now with auto payouts. Also the bonus has been paid.  My buddy has won 2 of the S3 miners and should take delivery this weekend or next week. Will see if they show.

Signed up.
Rolled 2 S1's to test.

I have pulled my miners a couple times and sometimes only ran half of them but am sold enough on this pool that I have all miners running there now. ( @ 2.5THs)

I'm sorry but I'm still crying foul here, your the only fanboy whos shown "proof" from the site. For the fun of it I took my 10Gh pi off BTC Guild and put it on both New York and VA, and guess what.... DEAD.

lol

And besides, you know why it's a scam because the pool pays out more than it ever takes in. Your just trying to get hash there to find a 25btc block and walk away happy with it all to your self.

To be decided...

You have every right to be skeptical. I have 5TH running and every payout has happened in past few days. If you read OP of mining thread he has a majority through his business of the hash here. Any blocks that are found, his teams hashing power can cover. Trust me, I was skeptical for weeks. But I have no reason to be anymore, I have seen proof myself. Which is why I was worried when they had a small hiccup in payments for 11 hours this morn. But it looks like the payout was in full, and the 1 hour payouts continue to come in with the estimated total time and time again.

The point is, the "pool" is paying out more than it can ever take in on a PPS model so somethings up somewhere.

Edit: FWIW, if it's such a good pool it wouldnt have two dead nodes lol

Trying to build a bitcoin affiliate network is what they are saying, also they claim the payout of bonus may last up until 5TH. This suggests they could end it sooner if they reach the goals for the pool.

If something is to good to be true it usually is. But on the other hand, if I had the resources, and could afford it, I would do the exact same thing to promote my own business, though perhaps not as aggresive as 12.5% Smiley

*Edit I am on the NY server, I only had a few minor disconnects, which may have to do with the fact the pool / company is in process of being built.

Anyone have experience with an S3 where chain #1 gets much hotter? I have a 40 degree temperature on chain #1 while chain #2 is only 32 degrees. The whole thing is a lot slower than the other S3 I have.

Have already tried removing all the thermal paste from the chips and applying arctic MX-2, but that didn't change anything. Does it also help to change the paste on the inside? What else is there to try?

I had a similar problem. Mine were off by 4 to 5 degrees. I used the same paste as you, but went one step further and did one of the inside heatsinks,  before I ran out paste.  I have more on the way. The inside heatsinks have hundreds of thermal paste dots over the whole surface, so it was a challenge to try and spread the paste around.
The results were that the blades are now within 2 degrees of each other,  but the unit still struggles to pull 440gh/s, drops over time, and can't be overclocked without lower hash rates and Xs and -s showing up.
After the paste gets here, I will redo the other blade and see if it helps at all.
On a side note, I have also installed heatsinks on the R47s and the little black chips above them, and it did not seem to help at all. At this point I'm a little nervous about them being in there.

Try east1.bitcoindigger.com I pinged it from TN and get 35ms returns. I might give it a shot.

Please keep your "pool" spam off the Bitmain thread - I & others don't want to scroll past quote upon quote about how good/shit it is while trying to find info about Bitmain products.

Thanks.

Please keep your "pool" spam off the Bitmain thread - I & others don't want to scroll past quote upon quote about how good/shit it is while trying to find info about Bitmain products.

Thanks.
This. This is why there are almost 270 pages, and I still have to post on the bottom to find the answer to the question that's probably been asked a dozen times over (yes, I have searched, but I can't find a final answer).

Cgminer is using 100% of the controller's CPU. The web GUI shows my load as between 2.5-3.5, and top shows cgminer as being maxed out. I went into /etc/init.d/cgminer, and changed the queue from 4096 to 128 and then to 1, and that helped a little, but not a lot (load is under 2 now, but top still shows cgminer as using 96% CPU). I'm also OC'd to 238mhz, and queue to 1 seems to be running a bit slower.

Any way to fix this?

I believe the setting is quite pool specific. I used to use --queue 1 but found I got a lower DOA rate & slightly better performance using --queue 0 with the cpu at ~80% - but I'm pointing mine at p2pool so maybe that's why? Load is currently: 1.58 1.62 1.40 @ 237.5

Thanks for the feedback. I'm pointing them at Slush, with Bitminter as a backup (failover).

Don't see how the CPU% is dependent on the OC, but I ran tests on 3 different clocks, with 3 different queue settings. The load was pretty high on all of them.
