"Anonymous voted NO with comment: Untrustworthy, caught putting in fake bids to increase price on own bitcointalk auctions with sock puppet accounts. Showed no remorse when caught. " Is this true?? Only partially. Garrett did indeed show remorse on what amounted to a small lapse in judgement with a single alternate account. One of the two people who bid on the auction afterwards didn't even mind all that much, and IIRC he paid the difference his bid increase amounted to anyways.

Good luck with him salvaging any respect.. This would be like if Obama was caught raping a nun. That shit doesn't fly with investors when he's trying to prove to the community that he's trustworthy, no matter what damage control there was afterwards lol

I can't help but wonder if this has anything to do with the refund he got from Avalon that he hasn't mentioned anything about.

How does one even do this?
Account->Settings->"Public Withdrawal Address:" It seems I'm unable to only buy on COG.F COG.F2 and ActM (of what I've tested) but am able to on Cognitive. I'm able to buy on all of those assets. Perhaps this is part of the serious issues burnside is working on correcting today? e: Chaang, the public withdrawal address is the one given to issuers in the event of Btct going down for some serious length of time. I suppose it is no BIG problem as the issuer still has your e-mail and if it is an invalid address it will just go to that, but you may want to have it reflect an actual address. Just make up a new wallet or something.

Hello all,
As said previously, BTC-TC has instated a new policy where in order to trade any assets, you must submit an emergency withdrawal address. There is a large notification at the top of the btct.co web site saying this.
No Cognitive assets were frozen because of this. It is simply a safety precaution burnside has added to the site, making an emergency transition off of BTC-TC even easier than before. A notification from him explaining the change would have been in order, but he neglected to do this, hence the panic from the larger majority of BTC-TC users.
All is well and I have negotiated a bulk order price with the CEO of CoinTerra, We will be sending payment for the order tomorrow, at which point I will be able to disclose the discount we received. I've been working on this for the past five days and wanted to wait until it was done to post an update, but I don't want to wait any longer. I'll post back tomorrow with the specifics!
Also, I have requested refunds from Steamboat, the group-buy organizer we used to purchase the majority of our Avalon chips. Those funds will be going toward the CoinTerra purchase as well, because the more we order, the better this discount will be.
Best, Garrett

Although unrelated to Cognitive, I'm curious what you mean by suspect?

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL BTC TRADING CORP WEBSITE PARTICIPANTS
As a result of recent changes in the virtual currency regulatory environment, the btct.co and litecoinglobal.com virtual stock market websites will be closing down. The following is our current schedule:
Approximately a week ago, both sites were closed to any new users and new asset creation was disabled. Effective immediately, in conjunction with this release, trading will be halted, all order books cleared, and trading re-enabled. October 7, 2013, all forms of secondary market trading will be halted on both sites. Approximately October 31, 2013, both sites will be taken offline. It is strongly suggested that participants take the following steps to protect all of their virtual assets: All participants should take steps to transfer all of your BTC and LTC (and any other data you wish to keep, such as CSV trade histories) held on the sites to your personal computer or another trusted site. All participants should make sure that their public BTC or LTC address is properly set in the Account page on the Settings tab whereby it can be shared with all issuers. All “issuers” should have the contact information concerning their “investors”, and we ask that all “issuers” communicate with their “investors” as soon as possible as to how they will ensure that all are treated appropriately.
We regret this development. However, we want to do everything we can to minimize problems arising from this transition. It is our goal to keep this shutdown orderly and calm.
Thank you for your participation, creativity, loyalty and sense of community over the past year. Additional communications will follow as we work out the details.
Ethan Burnside BTC Trading Corp.

the bids are pretty sparse, but I don't see a ton of people panic selling either. Most people who held through these low share prices will hold through this, IMO.
Between havelock, bitfunder, others I don't know about, etc. I hope Garr will pick then one with the best shutdown strategy. BTCT always went to great lengths to ensure if the worst happened, operators would be able to continue running their assets (and have no excuse to 'get lost'), which bolstered confidence in general. Now that the worst is happening, when selecting a new home we should look for similar assurances (list of investors emails / BTC addresses / etc mailed out regularly, etc).
