While people have the ability to do these things, it does go against the grain. Avoiding pools on the one hand, having optimized miners take advantage of the solo miners on the other.

Why is this only a problem for SPR?

Couldn't I optimize my mining software to mine DRK more efficiently, then take my new miner to a pool and mine DRK?

But, what's the point of having a USP of solo mining, when there is the ability to optimize the miner and create centralization by other means?

Centralization doesn't just mean control by pools. The notion of mining as Satoshi had intended was raised early on. Well Satoshi also asked for mining through consensus of a gentleman's agreement to play fair.

The average total coins generated across the network per day stays the same.  Faster machines just get a larger share than slower machines.  If everyone bought faster machines, they wouldn't get more coins than before.

We should have a gentleman's agreement to postpone the GPU arms race as long as we can for the good of the network.  It's much easer to get new users up to speed if they don't have to worry about GPU drivers and compatibility. It's nice how anyone with just a CPU can compete fairly equally right now.

I have no issue with anyone using their skills to make what they can. I have no issue with anyone gloating that they used their skills to earn a profit.

But you can't promote fair solo mining, when mining is, in reality, anything but fair.

A solution to both pools and optimized mining should be proposed.  Otherwise, its a nil sum game over mining with pools.

In your words and satoshi's, why are you nitpicking against SPR's solo mining then ?
By your logic, shouldn't the entire community be upset that the Nvidia Maxwell cards outperforms all previous nvidia cards and all AMD alternatives by a large margin an unfair advantage to newcomers vs old gpu miners ?
Shouldn't everyone be gentlemanly and use the same model of CPU or GPU to mine ?
Shouldn't those who got lucky and get more blocks per day than they should by probability donate out all extras to others ?

Well if he isn't going to do a minimum amount like DRK then he should limit the amount of MN and have them compete. I like the ranking system of only having 1440 master nodes.

I was mining on both and since linux nvidia drivers a well behind windows i was getting only 1200 khs and on windows 1500 khs with gtx 860, but i wasn't trying to mine on linux with 280x. CPU mining is also better on windows for 40 khs and i have i7-4710HQ

Ah I made the same experience with ccminer at Win/Lin and first thought I did something wrong with building the miner.. Performance is really better on Windows.

If you're interested in joining a (secure) pool, I'm starting an open beta these days for the small/regular miners on my pool, I already did some private testing and need more miners to get some stresstest done.

I got all miners ready for Linux but only ccminer for Windows (nvidia) atm.

40kh/s? You should be able to get better than that - even on a mobile CPU. My desktop CPU gets 300kh/s+ on SPR with the stock in-wallet miner.

Well Wolf0 i get 55-65 khs on linux and on windows 90-100 khs with 7 cores (not using 8 )
