Thanks for the replies everyone. I downloaded the bootstrap file and disabled secure messaging. It's still slow and the blockchain is at 48% downloaded, is that normal? With the way things have been going it'll still take weeks to get it to 100%. Anything else I can do?

I had to reload the blockchain a couple weeks back and had similar issues. just took forever. I ended up using @ffmad's blockchain backup posted here: http://shadowtalk.org/topic/359/wallet-update-1-3-1-0/7it not only had the blk0001.dat but also contained the "txleveldb" folder with the current .ldb databases. I believe a lot of the slow problems I was having revolved more around the txleveldb files I needed vs the blk0001.dat I could get straight from the bootstrap download here: http://shadow.cash/downloads/bootstrap.dat

The devs are working on POS v2 as we speak. And that will probably solve some of the issues you're having with the wallet. If you're trying to catch the exact bottom of a market then that's a whole other issue.
Sdc is one of the few projects worth holding on to. I would advise you to join our slack channel. You'll find lots of info there.
Good to hear! I agree SDC is one of, if not the best anon coin to hold. Community is awesome here as well!

Shadow uses Proof of Stake (PoS) to secure the network. With that comes a 2% annual growth that goes to "stakers" who process transactions. So to answer your question about total coins to be released, the current supply is 6.4+ million and that grows by 2% annually. Thanks for the explanation exactly what I wanted to understand.

Is this not modified by conversions to sdt? Eg total supply and stakeable = Sdc - anon tokens eg sdt? If so, and to my current understanding, available SDC is quite a bit lower than 6.5 million.

That is correct. Shadow also does not stake, only SDC. The 2% annual growth, is only on SDC, so the more Shadow, the less inflation.

If so, and to my current understanding, available SDC is quite a bit lower than 6.5 million. @ozkraut http://www.shadowchain.info/stats/shadow.phpalmost 2 million SDC destroyed for SDT. Many of those SDT converted back to SDC. FYI (from slack) dasource [4:31 PM] just to clarify as I would hate for it to be misunderstood dasource [4:32 PM] ShadowTokens created != SDC Burnt (edited) dasource [4:32 PM] Its a little complex but the nut of it is .. that this graph shows you dasource [4:32 PM] http://www.shadowchain.info/stats/shadow.phpdasource [4:33 PM] the green dotted line is the live representation of actual SDC which is "actively" destroyed at that time dasource [4:34 PM] so it would be 6.4M - 340K = 6.06M SDC available right now .. (edited) dasource [4:34 PM] as more uses for SDT becomes available I expect that green line to shoooot up! (such as ShadowMarket etc) (edited) litebit [5:57 PM] so if i want to turn my SDT back to SDC would it be SDC created ! = SDT Burnt? litebit [6:01 PM] it sounds actually different than i've thought of it. I knew the new SDC in a SDT > SDC transaction were "new" and not linked, but i have never thought of SDC being burned in the tradition sense (never to be seen again) and truly reducing SDC supply forever litebit [6:01 PM] thanks for help understanding better @dasource

Yeah, there is some weird bot action going on over at bittrex with SDC right now..
Interesting to see how this will play out in the next 48 hours
edit: bot is setting prices real low, 48, 49k, then buying immediately once that bot puts up those coins
Altcoin game can be a pain
