 Update: Tuesday, 20 April 2015 New ShadowCore Client Now Available For Public TestingOur development team has been hard at work integrating new features into ShadowCore that will better support our upcoming ShadowMarket. In order to best support a P2P marketplace environment the ShadowCore client has been updated to prepare the network to switch from using Proof of Stake to Proof of Stake v2. PoS v2’s revised coin weight calculation encourages greater network stability by not factoring in “coin age”. Therefore saving up coin age is no longer possible so nodes will need to be online more in order to get their stake reward. It'll involve a move from scrypt to SHA256 which will mean staking requires less processing power (especially helpful for mobile users wishing to stake their coins). The new system is also designed to solve security issues which made PoS v1 coins open to certain theoretical attacks. For more information see Blackcoin's Proof-of-Stake Protocol v2 white paper. The upgrade took a great deal of work from the developers (you can view full details of the 230 changed files with 12,219 additions and 8,455 deletions here. There’s a summary of the changes in the release notes. To participate in our public testing phase join the shadowtesting channel on slack. ShadowGo Progress UpdateWe’re currently putting the finishing touches to an upgraded version of our Android wallet. This will give mobile users the full anonymizing functionality of ShadowSend v2. The beta version will be posted in the next few days for a short round of community testing before the full release. Stay tuned for further details. ShadowMarket Progress UpdateGood progress is being made on the Shadow Marketplace. Our developers expect to pick up speed now that all the necessary updates have been made to ShadowCore and a date has been scheduled for the PoS v2 hard fork. Shadow Tokens are like SDC only private. They are 1:1
SDC is a public token traceable and linkable on the blockchain
SDT is a private token untraceable and unlinkable on the blockchain
Great explanations guys. There is also a slideshow at http://shadow.cash which explains the anon system in visual terms. what does it mean when it says shadow? and spendable on the top right corner? why do i only have 5 sdc to spend?  With ShadowCash there are two units of account. One is SDC (call them ShadowCoins), the other is SDT (Shadow AKA Shadow Tokens). The SDC is transparent and tracked on blockchain the same as Bitcoin. But the SDT uses ring signatures and dual key stealth addresses for anonymity. There are 4 options for sending. You can send SDC>SDC, SDC>Shadow, Shadow>Shadow, or Shadow>SDC. For the latter three it requires a stealth addy. To make a stealth address go to receive tab and click new address, and tick the stealth address box. To send your Shadows(SDT) to SDC, go to send tab, and choose the Shadow>SDC option. Enter your stealth address and press send. You will then effectively change your Shadows back to SDC once the transaction is confirmed on the network. Cryptonote uses a different curve, different libraries, and a whole different underlying core. We used ring signatures to spend Shadow, which is created by sending SDC as an anonymous output. Our scheme is quite a bit different, in that we borrow concepts from zerocoin, with the minting and spending, and use ring signatures to make the inputs untraceable from the outputs.. We're also using PoS instead of PoW. Its a completely unique scheme and implementation  Even "unmoderated" threads are heavily moderated by BTC mods, so every thread on BCT is "censored" as you put it. This thread is moderated because of wandering trolls who spread execrable FUD. There is no conspiracy. To begin understanding the anon tech DL the wallet and experiment with anon sends. |

Could we raise the level of conversation here?
Speaking of which Ive noticed the new slack channel has taken a lot out steam out of both BCT and IRC, a shame since these are both public facing. Going to shadowcash.io to check the IRC logs (as people studying Shadow might wish to do) only to discover that bots are posting as much content as humans belies the actual activity taking place (at this time mostly in slack) and might lead onlookers to believe nothing much is going on when in actual fact it is.
Additionally over-zealous moderation of this thread takes some of the emotion/passion out. I understand deleting a troll's comment but deleting the proud defences of Shadow by community members who quote the troll in some cases seems to me unecessary. Over-zealous moderation could result in a sterile thread which does not accurately reflect this community's passions and spirit.
n.b. perhaps making the #general chatroom of slack public facing too would help with this? (i.e. chat logs on shadowcash.io or elsewhere)
