As Vladimir predicted, we now a have a small cup with handle at 6.5 and 25kBTC bid wall holding it, let's see how long we'll stay at this level.

I wake up the next morning and the price is already 6.50$ WTF!?! I guess there was no 6$ "psychological barrier". Maybe we are seeing the same effects again when people cannot short bitcoin anymore (because of bitcoinica gone)?

i also was skeptical about all this "euro fears" news hype, but now i do believe that's the reason, because everyone and their dog in the streets here in germany talks about bank runs because of the elections in greece on sunday.

Oh, so you think that is the reason? I guess it's possible. All it takes is one rich person investing a part of his wealth into Bitcoin.

Well, this is certainly a frightening development. A couple dozen racks of these would literally monopolize the network. Hopefully they don't mostly wind up in malicious hands.

That has apparently just happened at least to some extent if you look at what has been going on in Austria.

you're the little green guy, you're the little green guy... it seems to work, do still fell well, no disassiciation. @vladimir and others: maybe it's a combination of the different things (capital flight, fiat freed by decision to not buy fpga farm, something bitcoinica-related,...)? Or do you guys think this is one person?? I have the feeling this is some sort of "honest" buying in any case, not the kind of buying that has the plan in the back of the head to dump it all again at the next opportunity.

I have the feeling this is some sort of "honest" buying in any case, not the kind of buying that has the plan in the back of the head to dump it all again at the next opportunity. Now just imagine the monotone voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p28e2Y4uJFgWith regard to the recent upswing, I'd speculate that anyone currently hedging against global volatility would choose Bitcoin as a high risk pocket change venture. Add to this, it appears that some are quite happy to try and ratchet the upward trend. It would be nice to think of it as a dollar linked hedge for protecting the value in your Euro assets, but the reality is that anyone currently engaged in Euro flight is not in the mood to speculate in a relatively new technology such as bitcoin. However.....bitcoin is a nice vehicle for trans-Atlantic transfers, so this may be a possibility. Also, not wanting to appear too cynical, but don't we all buy with the future point where we sell out(dump) in mind? You could also imagine all this said in the Voice of Rawdog....but that would just kill all my credibility

Also, not wanting to appear too cynical, but don't we all buy with the future point where we sell out(dump) in mind? Well, I certainly don't. I also hope that the amount of people in this market who don't, has increased. I'm only interested in selling if I smell a bubble or if I actually need the money. Otherwise I'm happy to keep those bitcoins indefinitely and hopefully spend them directly as much as possible.
