Hi guys,
I know this is the speculation thread but maybe u can help me. I'm planning on starting mining Monero. I want to build a rig that works between 4000 and 4500 hash rate. My question to u guys is what is the link between the bblock reward and the actuall Monero Price? If Monero Price goes up, then block reward goes down?
Thx
If price of Monero goes up, then more miners start mining Monero. Since block reward every 2 minutes is same but divided to more mines, then each miner gets less Monero then before. But luckily each of them is more expensive then before. When price decrease, it happens opposite. Network is all the time approximately same secure. When price is lower and there are less miners the reward for trying to do 51% attack is also smaller.

it's been about a week now ( maybe more ) that i have missed the news in XMR.
i say i missed because i saw only now that is in 3rd position in poloniex and used to be 1st or 2nd.
So something must be out or something... we have a stable price of ~0.013 but in my opinion this should be double by now...
can somebody with simple words explain what happened ?
Weekends are slow on Poloniex lately. But no matter that Monero had this weekend lowest volume in last 3 months. Bitfinex and Kraken are tiny reasons for it. We will see what will happen. I think lots of last months volume was because of BTC jumps and falls, where people was jumping from BTC to alts and back daily. Ha, I never quoted myself yet, but I often talk to myself anyway. Today might be 5th day in a row when less then 100k XMR will be traded on Poloniex. This had not happen for more then half year. But if you look better you see that all coins volume on Poloniex are low, and when you look at last weeks Monero volume you see Monero was still 4th most traded coin last week. It just show the general trend of little volume in CryptoLand.

Thanks for sharing. Direct link inserted to the section where Monero is tried to be mentioned for multiple minutes by John (these guys are very annoying interviewers, they like themselves talking better it seems). John McAfee is a special character, but he damn well understands the importance of privacy.

Those two act like a couple of morons and could have got a decent interview without all the trolling. Someone with actual skills needs to interview Mcafee about his thoughts on Monero. Listening to a couple man children for that length of time was painful. BTW, isn't Aeon testing pruning? I haven't kept up on it.

If I knew I might have bought - but I would have offered only 6 XMR (you know, I am the stingy guy). High quality genuine wrist watches are cool but never pay what you are asked to pay. Well, he's offered an unusual watch now, a stainless steel G-Shock. $150 usd, or 11 Monero. Doubt you can get him to lower the price, as that is already a discount. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs-casio-mrg-100-stainless-steel-g-shock-150-usd-eleven-monero-3975762.htmlBut the main thing is, it is being used as a currency. Let's see if it sells for fiat or crypto. Bets?

How much did Bitcoin being used on silk road effect its price rise?
How much of the 30x rise in 2016 was affected by a rise in Monero on the dark web?

Take a look at https://99bitcoins.com/price-chart-history/ looks like between the time Gawker wrote the article on Silk Road and DPR was arrested there was a 13X increase in bitcoin price. Wired recently published an article noting that only about two percent in sales were in Monero on the one dark web market that accepts it. The speculative pump in September was just that, speculation. It is good news that the price did not plummet back to .005 as it seems the publicity made many people aware of the privacy advantages Monero has over bitcoin and now they desire to hold some. The official GUI helps of course and since twice annual hard forks are normal for Monero there is no division in the community over that issue.

Monero seems like a nice coin to hold, I believe the performance of these coins will soon improve. one thing that makes me optimistic is marketcap Monero strong enough so hard the speculators monero control prices.

"All countries are advised to consider the creation of the crime of unexplained wealth." whoa! "All countries are advised to take action against Digital Currencies Mixers/Tumblers. Such services are designed exclusively to anonymize transactions and to make it impossible for Law Enforcement Agencies to detect and trace suspicious transactions. The existence of such companies should not continue to be tolerated" Didn't see this discussed. Sounds like an explicit call to outlaw Monero. It's talking about mixers and companies that run them. Monero is not mentioned, so it's not an explicit threat at all. It's about BTC being laundered through mixers and tumblers. Monero doesn't need them. The eyebrow raising bit is the suggestion that 'unexplained wealth' should become a crime. We aren't far off that in some places in the world already - but I suspect this is good for Monero in the long run as Bitcoin is easily followed, Monero not so. Which is why when I lost most of my Monero in a boating accident there was nothing much I, or anyone else in the world could do about it. Or will be able to do about it in the foreseeable future. How do you lose digital currency in a "boating accident"??

Pretty sure it came from Aminorex, which he will likely be able to confirm once we get above XBT 0.018 or USD 25.00

They borrowed it from the RKBA/FMCDH 2nd Amendment absolutist crowd, who like to joke about telling the feds that all their guns and ammo were lost in a boating accident, when the gun confiscation happens. The phrase signals that the utterer has exceedingly low time preferences and functions as a polite way of saying "none of your business" as well as a warning to "beware the fury of a patient man."

Coinbase will likely add Monero in the coming months. Now might be a good time to buy. Everyone is paying attention to other coins like the Pascal coin pump going on right now. Grab some Monero while no one is looking!
