The transaction size thing is a bit worrying, but hopefully it's something that can be improved with further work. It would be nice to get a comment from Smooth or someone else who know what they're talking about  Smiley

even at $100 per xmr. i will still not sell..
i personally believe Monero is a similar Bitcoin, only without the whole Mt.Gox situation. thats why instead of shooting up and then hit bottom down.. it will grow slowly and steady. just like bitcoin should have grown. slow and steady it would have less drama around it.
mind you i am not dissing bitcoins.
i hold Bitcoins, Monero, Ltc and Etc.
i believe all crypto currency which has a usage will be used in the future for different situation.
of course i wanted to buy Ripple as well a while back. and i bought. but since the US govt invested in. i sold everything.
i might be wrong in all my assumptions; that Monero and Bitcoin will be used a future currency. but i take full responsibility for my assumptions. i bought in bitcoins a long time back. i can afford taking the loss if all the currencies abovementioned suddenly fails. i already cashed enough to continue live my life without relying on them. but people who cannot afford the loss, should really really really be careful of not putting all eggs in 1 basket.
many "enthusiasts" will say diss your fiat and whatever else. however i would advise keep both of them. both of them have their usage.

Im actually surprised RingCT hasn't had any effect on price, but I'm in for long-term investment anyways.
I could definitely see a price of $50 to $100 in a few years from now which would be a great return on your investment, even if you bought today.
If Bitcoin can hit $1000 I don't see any reason that coins like Monero and Ethereum couldn't hit that price point.

Monero has already been over $18 USD just recently, so a 3 times increase would not be ridiculous and put it over $50. So, I think it would be very likely that we could see that mark in the next month or just a few weeks. Especially with the volatility that we've been seeing recently.

Check XMR/USDT in Poloniex and compare it with BTC/USD. It is beginning to appear that Monero is following bitcoin's price. Are we seeing XMR becoming the real silver to bitcoin's gold? Some say what about litecoin? Litecoin is a 200+ million market cap of nothing.

IMHO, the RingCT feature is already probably price-in.

This is happening quite many months now. I wish I would make some notes in past and could be more exact. It seems it already come in my subconscious and a week ago with huge BTC raises i was already predicting Monero price going up even BTC wise. So double gain. Same as when BTC go down,Monero go down even in BTC.

I dont know why this happen and dont know how to call it,but Monero dont act as other alts, but like a BTC baby.

I might be totally wrong since was so many news, and could all be just because of that. + as I said, i am just flowing my instinct and not having real data here.

from the syscoin thread:

Syscoin 2.1.1 has support for dynamically updating the currencies supported by the marketplace dependent upon which peg the merchant has selected for their offer listing. We will be demonstrating this ability this weekend by adding support for five new currencies to the Syscoin marketplace- Ethereum (ETH), Waves (WAVES), Dash (DASH), Factom (FCT), and Monero (XMR). Through the power of the dynamic peg system these new currencies will become available for all merchants to price their item in as of 12pm US/PST.

usability of xmr just got bigger Smiley

Just wondering how hard will be this down of BTC. Monero needs BTC, at least right now.

I am sure this will be a crazy year. Hopefully bitstamp (I assume Coinbase is adding monero) adds it, if you carefully read email they sent to customers about XRP, they said, I quote: "As you would expect, we are very excited about making more services available to our customers. But the year is still young. Stay tuned for more developments as and when they arise!"

Well, let's see if Monero "arise" on their platform Cheesy Dreaming is free

Until now, XMR Monero seems to be quite unimpressed by the BTC rollercoster  Roll Eyes Shocked

It's wonderful that the potential of Monero is being more widely acknowledged. Kudos to its creators, to our core team and other developers, and to the community members who've been rooting for it all along. It's now earned its place on the crypto-cognoscenti's short-list of trustworthy projects. I look forward to 2017 as the year that people who actually need digital cash begin to discover and use Monero.

When there were still no fiat/XMR exchanges, I was considering using LTC to get in and out of XMR, since the BTC network was so congested. But I guess the need for that has passed.
