Will a power outage affect the miner in finding a block on the solo pool? Is it basically just starting over when it resets after the power flickers?

There is no "starting over" you're rolling the dice 1 million times a second. What you get this roll has no effect on the next roll.

Thanks. I was afraid the outages we're having lately were going to hinder any progress.

None other than not having any "dice" rolling. You can just setup a failover to your own bitcoin core (helping the community) or to a pool mine to keep making btc.

Fracking electrical cost is getting so high that with difficulty I've cut all my miners (25 th) off for the rest of February. Even the Sparky experiment is temporarily halted. Sad

Solo mining is alive and profitable!
Helped? Thanks! 1CXRFh4bDVFBsUzoHMMDbTMPcBP14RUTus

Interesting statistic (since there's not much else happening) - ckpool.org is now getting more than 1 million DNS hits per month.

Looks like a network outage of some sort, investigating. DE is still up and running ok.

I may switch over for the time being. I hope it's an easy fix.

Pool's back online. The server kept on running at all times, there was some kind of datacentre network issue.

I don't know whether this means anything or not, but it's been nearly 24hrs since the pool went down. While down I switched over to DE since it was still working. Being in the US I didn't think that DE would do very well for me, but in one day on DE I have no stales listed. I normaly average about 4+ stales a day. Does this mean that my S3 is hashing better on DE?

1 day is not enough time to see the average on the DE server, run it for a week then compare the results to the US server.

Your S3 could just be having a clean run Cheesy

Luck, coincidence, random chance, moonlight, starlight, solar flares...

No, you're better off in the long term mining to whichever pool is closer. The main pool was not disconnected for that long.

There will be a small blip on the DE pool shortly for a minor upgrade/new code testing.

Luck? Hehe. Not lucky enough Wink I may run it just for a week and see what kind of difference I get. It couldn't hurt much then again it could hurt everything :/ I'll post back on it in a week just to see what it does out of curiosity.

I saw an app for Kano ckpool that notifies you when a block is found on the pool.

Anyone know if there's an app for solo ckpool?

I think one of those apps also works for solo ckpool (not sure which one).

The guy who wrote the Android app that notifies for Kano ckpool said (months ago) that he was going to add ckpool solo support as well, but he never did.  I seem to recall him posting that if anyone wanted to take over that aspect they were welcome to, but I do not have a link.

I'm running on the app and it supports the solo pool. Currently got an s4 hashing away and it registers it once I put my btc address (which is my worker detail) in the direct addresses section. Shows the pool hashrate etc aswell. Also got a notification today when my s4 stopped mining.
