I gave it a shot... I chickened out and went back to the pool after just over a day...
Yeah, because that how it works best! And people really wonder why so many stick with AntPool?

Yeah, because that how it works best! And people really wonder why so many stick with AntPool? Unrelated. Solo doesn't compare to antpoo in any way. Solo is for people with a lot of hash rate, or who like to take a risk to win, or who have hardware they just want to point as a gamble. Antpoo is quite simply for people who have no idea what they are doing, bitmain likes that and makes a lot of money out of them through selling them miners and charging them high fees when they use antpoo. e.g. people who mine on antpoo vs kano.is get less BTC. Simple. They just have no idea what they are doing, they plug in a bitmain miner that points to antpoo and that's all they know. ... and I'm not chasing them to come mine on my pool, that's their problem, not mine.

I must be one of those lucky morons, because p/hash I made more @ AntPool (albeit that I only stayed on kano.is for like 2 days because I'm not big on the "manual payments" thing in 2016) As far as "unrelated", I call "balderdash"! There are those of us (or I may just be the only one, who knows) that use "solo pools" because of reliability issues vs. a full solo setup. When you take that into account and look at how not serious folks here seem to take it, other solo pools become a more viable option. When the "fans" of a pool treat that pool like a wanton whore, you can't really get all butthurt because newcomers feel the same way!

But part of your comparison is correct. In that antpool is one end of the variance spectrum and solopool is the other end of the spectrum. It is sad that you do not see why antpool is a fail compared to Kano.is. But I do agree that your thread was about very high variance and vs very low variance,thus Kano.is pool did not apply since it is not at the far end of the spectrom of variance. Good luck on antpool after the 1/2 ing. I will be with Kano.is and sometimes take a pop here.

Saying "2 days" proves that. As far as "unrelated", I call "balderdash"! There are those of us (or I may just be the only one, who knows) that use "solo pools" because of reliability issues vs. a full solo setup. ...
It's written in the first post and obvious why you'd use this solo pool and why it is better than any other for solo. When you take that into account and look at how not serious folks here seem to take it, other solo pools become a more viable option. When the "fans" of a pool treat that pool like a wanton whore, you can't really get all butthurt because newcomers feel the same way!
Um you don't understand what a solo pool is? 2 people mining on the same solo pool have no effect at all on each other. ... and anyone mining here is taking it seriously. This pool has the fastest block change on the planet. It also has the highest average block size of ALL pools and thus the highest average transaction fees per block found. http://data.bitcoinity.org/bitcoin/blocksize/6m?t=lScroll down to "Blocks size by mining pool" and click on "Average size" twice. Again, as I said, people mining on Antpoo have no idea what they are doing.

I like that in a topic that boasts of "184 blocks", you pick the last 41 to brag on and ignore the prior 130+ (wouldn't want them 97.0 kB and 50.425 kB blocks showing). Clearly I've offended your basal sensibilities, which has you cherry-picking data, and for that I express my sympathy for you and leave you to obsess over yourself with your miniature horde of sycophantic, servile worshipers...

Pick any block history that contains solo.ckpool you like. It's above antpoo for all of them, and antpoo has a minimum size of ... 204 bytes ... with REGULAR empty blocks around that size ... go count them, though there's a lot and you may not be able to count that high ... I like that you didn't bother to check any other range that gives the same result of solo.ckpool far above antpoo

Hey, kano. There are ppl who always think they are right and have a tremendous fear of publically saying they were wrong. Even if you give them the most obvious and trustworthy proofs. And yes - saying abt 2 days' stay at kano pool makes me smile again. So many times ppl compare pool mining results without even having read what 5Nd is... Not sure if this is the case, but still CryptoBuddha recommends: Say Ohmmmm and dont talk to anyone unwilling to hear!

I'm not sure how my "Good luck to cryptobuddha" post got linked to Antpool. I'm mining at Kano -- as I have been since the first of the year. Prior to that, I was at Bitminter. I just understand giving solo mining a shot for the last week or so before the halving. I had never done it before -- and tried it, chickened out, and went back to kano.

I moved some of my SP20s from Kano.is to here for the last couple days before halving. After 19 profitable months with them (far more than I ever expected), the SP20s will be powered down at halving. The odds of actually hitting a solo block with them are near zero, but I may as well have a couple days of fun with them before their end!

Well that's because it's way easier to make a point if you don't do any research, put in any work, understand the topic at hand, or care that your POV is incorrect. That is the way most people operate today, sadly, especially those under 30.

No solo luck for me!! Best Share 52,916,060,888 Geez, I wish I had a best share that high! Granted I'm only mining with one of @sidehack's Compac stick miners so not a ton of hashing power, but lottery mining it is for me. I mined at kano.is and elegius for a while, but was only getting ~1200 Satoshi/block, so it was going to take a looooooong time to reach the payout threshold, which is what led me to lottery mining at solo.ckpool.org. Cheers, - zed

Best share from a few days solo mining my SP20s was 801,248,735. It was fun trying. They are now profit switching between NiceHash and Kano.is until the rental rates calm down, then they go into retirement (likely sometime later today).

Yep, I pointed the last of my SHA gear at the solo pool for the last ~13Hr just to see... I think only a share of 20M... lol Was worth a chance though =)

So before the halving I switched my 830gh Tube miner over to CK's solo pool: Here what the site reports though;
{"hashrate1m": "745M", "hashrate5m": "4.75G", "hashrate1hr": "7.33G", "hashrate1d": "5.71G", "hashrate7d": "1.79G", "lastupdate": 1468106473, "workers": 1, "shares": 296000, "bestshare": 1547912.9142415167, "bestever": 1547912, "worker": [{"hashrate1m": "745M", "hashrate5m": "4.75G", "hashrate1hr": "7.33G", "hashrate1d": "5.71G", "hashrate7d": "1.79G", "lastupdate": 1468106473, "shares": 296000, "bestshare": 1547912.9142415167, "bestever": 1547912, "workername": "19XRsYRXZsiDEfgD6Xe9d8nso8hKwoFEbZ"}]}
Sometimes it shoots up to like 40-50g/h but nothing like what the tube is reporting on my side. Any suggestions ?

Did you connect per these instructions in the Top Post? Configuration: Asicminer tube/prisma owners need to point to a special proxy at solo.ckpool.org:3335

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?
