Even though it's been 26 hours now, there are only 122 blocks found. Once it's humming along, that will be done in 2 hours, not 26. Smiley So, even though it's been 26 hours, you've only been staking for 2 of them. That 8 hour limit is the 510 blocks. I'm just saying, I don't think you can gauge your staking success based on real time until the blocks start coming one per minute and that won't happen for a few days I imagine.

My wallet didn't change since this morning, it says "In sync, building stake time." So while I did catch 2 blocks overnight on this wallet, I haven't gotten any more and have 4 that were stale.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Still no new coins received (from interest) in staking since 15h.
"Spendable" at almost 0 and the rest is "staking".
However, I have now almost twice my amount in 'total" (next to "connection")
Think the best would indeed be to "reboot" from pow

I have nothing staking, everything spendable and not received one coin in 25 hours.

Looks like you are lucky for not wining the lottery  Wink

Maybe, but i wouldnt mind feeling rich. Only for a few days Tongue

There was no interest rate cap in v2.0.1
See page 11 and 13 of link:

http://www.vericoin.info/downloads/VeriCoinPoSTWhitePaper10May2015.pdf

Of course there was - 100% as it is on the chart, right?

Please look at these numbers again:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gi9ttwef2e5hfvk/Lotto.PNG?dl=0
The ~7,400,000 interest came from an address with ~200,000 in it. What many of us here have been repeating over and over is that this stake can NOT be generated by ANY interest rate <= 100% and ANY coin age <= 18 months.
Now let's say the interest is capped at 10%, and somehow the 7,400,000 were generated at 100%. With a 10% cap, those 200,000 SLR under all other conditions being the same will generate a stake of 740,000. Which will be WRONG again.
There is an error in the code, and it is somewhere else.

The interest rate isn't capped at 100%, that's just written on the chart to show scale. Look on the left, you can see it does not cross at 100%.

The chart at the bottom of page 11 is what you're referring to right?

Did you see a number >99% by the "Stacking" circle? I didn't.

Maybe Solarcoin should consider switching to Graphene if PoST isn't good enough?

Also someone mentioned that it is necessary to trust humans in a foundation? Is that going to be automated out? I would think Ethereum smart contracts could minimize trust quite a bit.

I understand PoST was in theory supposed to be easier to implement than the other choices but from the looks of it the community seems to not know what they want.

If there is some sort of rounding or parameter error then it's not a flaw in PoST. If there is a cap on 10% interest or not then is it going to make a difference in the long term? The only way Solarcoin will have value is if people accept it or work to earn it. Of course people who have solar panels can claim it and that can give it value too but it's not going to have real value unless there are some exclusive things people can buy with only Solarcoins, and enough of a community willing to work for Solarcoins.

Why not take full advantage of the technology and tactics like smart contracts, sharedrops and other mechanisms to bring value to Solarcoin holders so that people want to hold Solarcoins? Otherwise it's going to be a long time before Solarcoin gains value and the speculation on the price of Solarcoins in 2015 isn't going to matter if in the end it has to be upward to $20 each. I would be surprised if it even could get to 25 cents in the next few years unless there is a plan.

There's no block explorer so there's plenty of opportunity for shenanigans. I doubt it though, who would bother??? LOL

All,

2.0.3 is coming soon.  Here are the details:

* End-of-pow at 840000.
* Cap of 10% on the interest rate.
* Max time weight for coins staking will be 30 days. This will allow holders of very old coins to still earn interest on them (30 days’ worth), and it will encourage more frequent staking since you will lose interest if you have not staked in 30 days.

You can auto-update by going to Help->Check for Update.  Or, download it from http://solarcoin.org/downloads/

The new wallet will require a Blockchain Reload.  If the wallet has trouble downloading it (sometimes it takes several clicks of the Download button to get it started), you can get it here: http://solarcoin.org/downloads/bootstrap.zip

To manually install the bootstrap, shutdown the wallet, copy bootstrap.zip to your data directory and unzip it.  Remove the existing blk0001.dat and txleveldb (folder).  Then copy or move blk0001.dat and txleveldb from the extract folder "bootstrap" to the data directory.

Fire up the wallet...

If you are missing any coins in your wallet, please run File->Rescan Wallet.

Also, if you mine SLR via RPC, please resume mining.

-Steve

Everyone, please shut down your 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 wallets.  We need to extend PoW to block 840000.

I was on the Forum immediately after you posted to Update to 2.0.2. So I did and now my wallet is stuck and you immediately deleted the New 2.0.2 wallet from the Help Download and now that version doesn't download. All my coins are stuck waiting for 1147 blocks to sync. It was initially Ok and Synced. Then you did something.

I wish I didn't refresh my browser to see your post, it was immediate and I figured I would step up and be the first to upgrade.

What should I do from here?

I'm doing a quick sanity check on 2.0.3 before posting it.  I am currently on block 831417 but it has stalled so I'm wondering if mining has ceased or if there is another issue.  Hang tight, and thanks for hanging in there!

I need to confirm that mining is still going on and at what height.  840000 gives me time to sort it out. But yes, if there's consensus to make it 832000 or 833000, I'm ok with issuing a new release.
