46 hours Shares: 171,335,420,019 (389.65%) when will the pain stop For me right now fail over to Eligius again. WTF? Yes it's down again. M Sorry, was taking a break eating and reading the forum when it locked up but ckolivas restarted it. Again a silent lock up, nothing to notify. The web site will (soon) have 3 lights on the top left - green/orange/red. Last heartbeat, last share, last work from the pool. Heartbeats happen once a second so that's easy to see it's a problem if it's been a few seconds. Shares are almost 1000 a second so yeah that's another easy problem to spot if it's been only a few seconds. New work is every 30s so I guess that one will be around 45s to get to red, and orange around 35s. I'll of course be using that info (getting it another way of course) to act on them automatically.

In all fairness it's 47 hours minus however long the pool was down last night plus another fail over...

ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com is back up and running, if you have more than 25 workers you will not be able to track them all. It will track your first 25 and your total hashrate. I'm going to try to work something out to track all workers, but right now it overloads the system. Also notice the main page has an average of payouts per day.

Wow I won't be renting any hash pointed here anymore. This sucks. Most of my work has gone to BTC Guild.
Why not start another pool and test all of the updates. I would be willing to send 1th for testing.

We test the eyeballs off the pool code before putting it live. The reality is testing even with 100 clients of 100TH will not reveal stuff that will happen when you unload 5000 clients with 5PH onto it.

With code: 1. Try something 2. If it works go to 4. 3. If it doesn't work go to 1. 4. Use it until something breaks then go to 1.

I understand your frustration but don't think we're sitting idle. Both of us have had very little sleep in a week and if you check the ckpool software repository you'll see there is massive activity there to try and get the much needed stability we all want. I've even dropped out of IRC to avoid the distraction it is having on me debugging this. This is the cost of adding features to a very complicated piece of software. Yes the software could be made simpler but the idea is to end up with software that can scale to any size. When it's not unstable, the performance of ckpool should be unparalleled in terms of the number of clients it can service without delay for the minimum amount of resources possible. I'm very sorry to everyone that there has been downtime.

Thanks to the both of ya for all your hard work. Cheers.

Regarding my comments earlier about status info: I've added that to ckdb and the web site and will now add it to my status testing I do also. On the web site there's 3 'lights' in the top left. A green eye means OK, an orange 'Soul Eater' symbol means it could be failing, and a red 'Darth Vader' means something is bad. Orange can mean a delay in the transfer of information, so that's why there's 2 states other than green. The 3 dots are from top to bottom: Share Status Heartbeat Status Work Status We get over 900 shares a second at the moment, so that one should always be green unless the pool is dead. The heartbeat is a communication between ckpool and ckdb every second, so that might, rarely, be orange due to delays. The work status is for each time ckpool gets a new work template from bitcoind. That's 30s, or less if there's a network block. It goes orange at 36s and red at 46s - so it pretty much should never be orange or red. Though since this is all going through a web server and I've only just added it, then it may not behave exactly as stated above. My own access for server status (working on that now) will not have the web delays/issues of course.

My fail overs now go to the solo pool. Thanks for the pool. Its one of the last bastions of community here. Edit - - - - If the Price stays stable at $280 at the exchanges I am going to turn on 1w/GH hardware again. I suspect allot of people will be doing the same.

***************************************************************************
Following on the success of the pool with the last competition, we are having another giveaway!
This time, Avalon will be supplying and shipping a miner to each of 2 winners with this new competition. It will be an Avalon 4.1 Machine with a 4-pin-cable x1 and an AUX x1 (without a PSU) as shown in the pictures below:
Not sure I understood the rules, but I will try my luck with one S2.
