So Kano, your thoughts on the Hardfork. What is the Kanopool leaning towards?
Since we're currently under the 1% mark, it doesn't really matter. I don't like either BU or SegWit for various reasons, but I don't really have to choose However, anyone who doesn't follow the largest % will be to blame if anything adverse happens to Bitcoin due to a fork. So if either of them active, that will mean 75% BU or 95% SegWit of the network, in which case anyone thinking that sticking with 25% or 5% of the network is some sort of correct way to go is clearly deluded SegWit wont get 95% ... and maybe BU wont get 75% either? If I had to make a bet, I'd say that if anyone can come up with a (better) block size solution soon, and make it a viable choice on the network, that will win everyone's vote. But we'll see. BU is better then SegWit but it reminds me of the last election in the USA late night talk show host Stephen Colbert said this "the evil of two lessers" and it fits for this choice as well as it did for Trump vs Clinton. To me easiest thing would have been 1mb to 2mb at the 1/2ing last year. Then re visit it at the next ½ ing. I am not pro BTC vs anti Alt coin I am inclusive. The industry of all coins is over 20 billion. BTC vs alt coins is happening to some degree and this happened due to asic company greed and btc failing to settle block scaling size. We are now faced with Bitmain,Bitfury,Avalon (asics) vs Intel,AMD,Nvidia (gpus/pcs) At least 50 other companies are on this side Asus Sapphire MSI EVGA Seasonic Asrock Corsair This war is good for mining and miners . I don't know if it is good for crypto coins. The BTC vs ALT war never would have happened if they simply went from 1mb to 2mb blocks last July with no fuss or muss. What ever happens I will leave my Avalons here.

Just simply changing what is needed to change in advance of when it needs to be changed; what insanity is this?

but it reminds me of the last election in the USA late night talk show host Stephen Colbert said this "the evil of two lessers"
and it fits for this choice as well as it did for Trump vs Clinton. Not a very good comparison being that this was the first time in any presidential election that one could instead of voteing for one that was the lesser of two evils they had the choice of voteing for trump instead of voteing for evil Hillary the crook. It was a no-brainer for anyone with a soul or even a functioning brain. No one voted for her Unless they were just totally brain dead or just hated America with a passion to even consider voteing for her at all. unlike this BTC fork thing which for some there choice might be the lesser of 2 evils while to someone else the other choice might be the lesser of two evils depending on there perspective on what they want out of btc in the future. Definitely not as easy or as cut and dry of a choice as it was to know not to chose a purely evil crooked to the bone canidate vs one that does not have even a single evil bone in his entire body and not crooked in any way shape or form whats so ever.

0.9% fee is applied on the TX fee as well? Or only on the 12.5?

As the payouts help page says How much of each block does the pool reward?
Transaction fees are included in the miner reward. Pool fee is 0.9% of the total.

Block! (another) by Tech-Display A7v2 How come the diff and luck show as negative in the block history for this one? They don't - that's a tilde "~" It means approximate. Until the block is confirmed and summarised (recalculated), it's an approximate. The "~" goes away once the recalculation is done (as it has now) Edit: it always does that.

ok thx As I know how PPLNS is working I have not searched there... The only info I found was here in the OP: PPLNS Stratum BTC mining pool - N currently set as 5 x the network difficulty when the block is found. 0.9% fee paid to myself to run and work on development of the pool. Miner payout includes transaction fees.

I'll be doing a web server upgrade in about 20 hours - 31-Mar 3:00am UTC
No mining will be affected at all.
During the web server upgrade, the web site will be completely unavailable. This is a straight forward VPS memory upgrade since the server provider has doubled the available ram on all their servers at the same cost. I'm not sure exactly how long it will take, but it will certainly be less than 15 minutes.
Doing the web server (first) I'll be able to see how much effort is involved and how much of an outage it will be. This will also lead to later upgrading all the rest of the nodes (NL, NYA, DE, SG , JP) and also finally the passthru that everyone mining to the main US node goes through. I'll of course post about those upgrades before they happen, once I've worked out when they can be done.
So for now, just the web server will be upgraded tomorrow 31-Mar 3:00am UTC
Edit: I've also added a notice function to the web site and it shows this also - and I'll continue to use the notice function in the future also as needed.
