Yes I do realise the 'retard' did it on purpose and knew it would cause problems for bitcoiners, but in the assumption that BCH would replace BTC.

But that's even worse than doing it by mistake ...

BCH was claimed to have been created to over come the problem of the UASF.
Once that problem was removed, BCH should have disappeared.
Since it didn't disappear, it means that Bitmain and ViaBTC purposely caused problems for Bitcoin, when they could have simply avoided them with a few lines of code change.
Yes I do know it's only a few lines of code change, I've done it before for testing purposes.

So, what's better?
1) Calling him a 'retard' for making a mistake (not the case) or
2) Lynching him up for risking screwing around with everyone's Bitcoin wallet who runs BCH ...

I worded it as 1), but since it really is 2), when and where's the hanging?
I think we should never advocate violence, and I know you were not, you were just joking. Many people, especially those who mine on your pool look to you for the solid explanations of things in the BTC ecosystem.  If you soften your description of a complex situation like this one, then the people who depend on your insights will be unprepared to make good choices.  In November when 2x should be kicking in, all of us will look to you for technical explanations and leadership WRT where we should point our hash, and who we should bring pressure to.  If this was a mistake maybe we go one direction, if it was on purpose maybe we take a different action.

I know it is a pain in the ass, but you are a leader in our community because of your pool, and because of the time you take to explain how Bitcoin works.  So that puts you in a position of responsibility when the folks look to you for insights.

No, was actually stale.
I've changed the flagging of it.

On the web it was an immediate orphan coz it was already stale, but any block submitted that isn't worked on is auto-flagged as orphan until I manually check everything then flag it.

I've looked through everything to be sure, but yep it was a stale share.
The share came into the Silicon Valley node at 2017-08-10 20:28:30.533 UTC
But all nodes and the main pool had already switched to the poo block by then.

Kano, do you advertise your pool bitcoin IP addresses so that others can connect to it to help with rapid propagation to reduce the possibility of stales?  I have a full node running in the SW part of the US that I can force connect to your node if it would help.

I apologize if this question has been asked before, what is the minimum th\s required to avoid dust? I'm getting a buddy setup with a single Avalon 741 and want to make sure he will be above the threshold before pointing him to this pool.

Stales having nothing to do with that.
That's orphans, that are a different creature.

A stale is a share that gets to the pool after the block has changed.
Basically it's just a miner that was working away normally, then a block change occurred, then as the work was coming into the miner, but before it switched to it, the miner found a block.
Really it's a non-event and I don't think any other pool would actually tell you about them Tongue
In my case, I show any and every attempt at a block on the Blocks page, no matter what it is or when it gets to the pool.

Yeah I really do probably have the best propagation of blocks of any pool on the network Smiley
I've nodes near every Fibre Relay node, and some of those nodes no one mines to coz their job is purely to get the blocks to every relay as fast as possible.

He'll be above threshold with the Avalon.  Looking at the last block cracked, and doing some quick calculations, I'm getting around 600GHs right at dust, so no problem.  Cool
Although I can say that's close to double when last someone asked!!  Shocked

Yeah, the threshold itself is 10,000 satoshi as it says on the web site, but to convert that to a hash rate (per block) on a pool with 85PHs its:
 85,000THs * 10,000 / blockreward

If we were being like a certain collection of evil pools and mining empty blocks, then blockreward would be 1250000000 satoshi
so 85,000 * 10,000 / 1,250,000,000 = 0.68THs or 680GHs

Or to calculate it simply using Pool P PHs, it's (P / 125) THs

As the pool grows, that dust limit grows, and if the reward is higher, that limit goes down.
e.g. a 10% tx reward would mean the limit is ~10% lower

Hau'oli la hanau, Kano & Nomadgroup (Hawaiian for happy birthday). Many more...  Kiss

...and a single 741 should be OK. I'm averaging .006/block reward right now at 37.5 TH; extrapolating to 7.5 nominal for the 741 (mine average that with no problem), you should see around .0012/block given current pool profile.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

I'll translate for him. I speak spanish natively. I'll ask him to message me directly so we can avoid cluttering the board with spanish messages.
