If you are mining at a loss when the pool is paying an average of 99.80% PPS like last month, you need to pick something else to do ...
I am mining at a huge loss, but have only been on the pool since Oct 1st. I guess I picked the worst week in the history of the world to join. On top of that I have one S9 with 2 hashboards out for repair. I ran out of hair to pull out. At least I am well in the black. Or, I should say, well into the GOLD, since I have converted much of the bitcoin I have mined into American Gold Buffalos. My Antminers mine gold bullion. Start pulling your pubic hair! Lmao

I've been here for a LONG time. Won't go anywhere else. And...I've done Slush, and Antpoo, and another, for periods that gave a real indicator. The key is simply patience. Luck is what it is, and it isn't going to be any different on another pool. What matters is how much you're earning from each block re your hash rate, and that can't be beat...not how many blocks are found in a given period of time.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

The best thing to do in these situations is to PANIC...sell the kids...sleep with the rich fat chick next door for money for electricity bill. Whining always helps.
Lol even if times were better if you can sleep with the rich fat chick next door to get her to pay for your electric bills i say GO FOR IT.
Its like my dad always said to me when I was a kid. If you can work from the next up rather then the neck down is best but if you ever get a chance to get paid from the waist down JUMP ON IT. :-)

No kidding! Where is the emoji of rubbing greedy hands together and cackling? Grin There is nothing I like better than gold. I love gold. Bitcoin mining has replaced my shovel and sluice for mining gold. And I am not even exaggerating. I sold my sluice. Smiley I'm really kicking my self over not selling my dredge back in January to buy more btc mining equipment which it. I have very little desire to prospect for gold after my dad and mining partner passed away 10 years ago. Tho every day I wish he could be around to see the btc mineing. esp when he was one of the earliest people to see the potential in crypto currencies long before btc even existed when there was some digital money called egold which he seen as being more useful the gold for conducting longer then arms reach trades. Which most gold bugs cant see past there nose or emotional attachment to gold as the main drug of choice when they have been bitten by the incurable disease known as gold fever.

Yeah, I fully admit that I have gold fever BAD! If I didn't have gold fever, I would want it! hehe I really do enjoy gold mining as well, but don't have time for anything large scale and I have taken a real beating because of how much work it is. Fun work, but it takes its toll. 4 hernias and 2 torn rotator cuffs didn't cure my gold fever. But bitcoin mining is a much easier way to obtain it. hehe Although, there is nothing like panning concentrate! My only complaint about bitcoin mining is that I need more power! I am at the limit of my wattage availability with the S9s I have running, otherwise I would have many more.

Apologies that this is not kano-specific, but I'd thought it good to post anyway (@Kano feel free to remove if you find the post inappropriate). OK, just had something not very nice happen to me... someone stole my hashrate! I was getting a 4th pool entry in my GUI that was posting somewhere else. As I was filtering HTTP access I was confused as to where this was coming from. No issues for 3 months, suddenly my hash rate got diverted (only noticed after a few hours unfortunately). Seems some versions of the antminer software have the API enabled by default. It runs on port tcp/4028, so make sure that you filter access to that port on your firewall/router/whatever. Probably you can fix it in the antminer itself as well, but I have not been able to find a proper description for this (have not looked very hard either). https://imgur.com/a/Uq6TNThe user is 'xoox' on Antpool ... see screenshot. Be warned!

Be warned! No miner should be visible on the net. If there is any access to it, that is not via a VPN, then sooner or later someone will hack it and change the settings. For a home miner, it should be behind the router and not have any rules to access it from the net, ever. If it's in a datacentre, it should be the same, no way to access it from the net, except via a secure VPN. A miner in a datacentre is at risk to hacking by anyone who has access to the datacentre. A miner visible on the net is at risk to hacking by anyone on the planet. FYI: I wrote the API in the miners (it is completely disabled by default) I told Bitmain they shouldn't leave them open as W:0/0 but they didn't give a shit coz that meant more work for them to change their original bad choice of doing that. They made that choice coz they wanted to simplify setting up their own datacentres. It would appear that they at least changed that finally in the S9s - though I'm not 100% sure.

Agree. I'm doing filtering, not stateful. Obviously not enough to keep bad people out ;-) I'll grab the old ASA out of my stash and install it this weekend... It would appear that they at least changed that finally in the S9s - though I'm not 100% sure.
Yes they did. My S9 is not vulnerable it seems (privileged API disabled by default). The S7 is as open as .... Thanks!

Did your update for the s3 address the issue with the W:0/0 issue?
My API shows W:127.0.0.1 so I guess that should be ok for localhost?
Of course ... ... it even says so in the instructions to use it.

"...going to?...insufferably annoying?..." LOL...we're ALL annoying on this bus...to someone. That's sorta kinda like the ol' high philosophy statement, "It's five o'clock somewhere!" Anyway...had a really rough day today helping a disabled lady friend set up her new laptop...we've known each other 20 years...she's a traumatic brain injury survivor. I've worked behavioral science for 30+ years, and have never seen a more intense case of obsessive-compulsive disorder. I'm the only one on the island that can help her on that stuff. Glad I can. Once in a while, this board gives me a safe place to express my humour noir and come back to center. Thanks...

Nicely said by your dad! Although I’d probably have to sleep with every FAT rich chick in my neighborhood to cover my electric bill! , .

Because you need to mine for at least one month possible two before you can make a serious assessment of a pools performance at this hash rate and difficulty level.

I am thinking if you go back, oh 10 pages and read each post, you will know how the system works. If not, then you're well I'll be nice This new difficulty increase seems to have impacted block results a bit, sigh.
