Hopefully nothing quite so dramatic as this s7 conflagration I hope...

So I just recently got into mining with a S7 this month. I turned it on just in time for the 875% block of death, which was followed not far behind by the 928%. Not gonna lie, I considered bailing on this pool.. At the end of the day I decided that I wanted to support a small(er) pool to support decentralisation and chose to have faith in what I know about probability. Today I am sure glad that I did Smiley I got an S9 on the way from bitmain in December, can't wait to hook it up. Mine on gentlemen!

IBM 4kw server PSU - that's 333A @ 12vdc - and unfused wire triplets feeding the PCIe plugs. Vcore regulator shorted and the PSU of course was more than happy to send full 4kw+ to the problem area... Belonged to Tupsu as I recall Finsky, thread is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1540037.msg15478853#msg15478853 Pretty horrific damage and led to a decent thread about proper fusing of DC leads when using those monsters.

Hi all.  I just wanted to say hello... I’m moving from Slush to Kano because I like the smaller pool atmosphere (and this board) and want to support decentralization as much as possible.  I hope my 37.5 TH/S (5 Avalon 741s) will help.  I plan to add a few more over the coming months, and eventually double to 9 or 10 machines.  I’ve recently converted a small space wine room to a mine with the help of a lot of folks on this board.  ✌️

Bear with me I'm new.
I studied up on pools a couple months ago and decided on Kano after considerable research. I'm just now coming back to check my numbers again and get some info to get started. In the next 3 weeks I've got 5 S9's coming.
Total BTC avg hashrate over the last 7 days: 10003 PH/s (from fork.lol)
Kano avg hashrate over the last 7(6 really) days: 50.59 PH/s
My expected hashrate 67.5 TH/s
Kano's share of total avg hashrate over the last 7 days: .00505748
My expected share of Kano's share of hashrate: .00133426
Or, my expected share of total BTC hashrate: .00000675
From fork.lol:
$100629.93 avg block reward/block - 7 day avg
$13674.19 avg fees/block - 7 day avg
yields: $113674.19 avg total reward/block - 7 day avg
5.79 blocks/hr - 7 day avg
yields: 972.72 blocks for the last 7 days
972.72 blocks x $113674.19 = $110573158 total rewards for the last 7 days
So, my expected share for the last 7 days: $110573158 x .00000675 = $746.14 or $106.59/day

Now for Kano's numbers for the last 7 days:
103.05 BTC total reward for the last 7 days
minus the pool fee 102.12255 BTC
or 14.59 BTC per day
14.59/50590 THs = .00028838 BTC /day /TH
My expected Kano share: .00028838 BTC x 67.5TH = .01946537 BTC or $138.20/day (at today's rate of $7100)
or $967.43 over the last 7 days.
That's pretty damn good compared to my expected share above at $746.

There's probably an easier way to calculate this to compare pool performance against expected overall share rate but I'm new and this was my easiest route given the numbers available at fork.lol.

My numbers look right to you?

So, what happened to the total hashrate here? Where'd everybody go? Don't tell me they buggered off to mine Bitcoin Cash?

Remember that your numbers are luck based.
Luck changes ... every block.
You can't predict luck, there's no way to game it.

The actual result (Pool average) is Luck% * MeanTx% * 0.991

The expected result (Pool average) is when the luck is 100% = MeanTx% * 0.991

The difference here vs other PPLNS pools, is that "0.991" number (i.e. my 0.9% fee) is better than anywhere else worth mining Smiley

Most of them were rented hashes and kano told them to step out of the pool for a bit (not leave, just come back in awhile).

Looking to purchase more Antminer S9s. Don't want to pay the ebay prices. I searched Google and can't seem to find anything that monitors stock on bitmain's site. What is the best approach to purchase these miners?

Just a couple of big guys switched somewhere else and I doubt it was a bch pool, because for them time lost on mining the useless clone would never be compensated.
As for home miners, some might have gone elsewhere due to somewhat smaller payouts than expected. Last December I was also one of those who were terrified by the downstreak of luck and left kano pool for a month, but not this time. Our fears and "common sense" often disagree with mathematics  Grin

good luck

I have no experience with this site, but [scam site url removed] is a reseller of S9s.  It looks like they have currently have stock.

Do your research before going to any 3rd party site.  I'm pretty sure Bitmain says they do not have any official resellers.  And scam sites abound.
