To all who are struggling with understanding the 5ND payout method, let me attempt to explain with my simplified approach. Simple assumptions: 1. Network difficulty remains constant. 2. Your full reward per block found = $5 per block (transaction fees excluded for simplicity) 3. One block per day is found. 4. You mine for 5 days and then you turn off your miner ( your wife said it was too noisy ) 5. 5ND = 5 days. Under a PPS method, you would earn $5 per day x 5 blocks = $25 Under our PPLNS method, you would still earn $25, but spread out over 10 days as follows: Day Payments Per Block Found Total Payment Per Day ---- ------------------------------ ------------------------ 1 1 0 0 0 0 $1 2 1 1 0 0 0 $2 3 1 1 1 0 0 $3 4 1 1 1 1 0 $4 5 1 1 1 1 1 $5 6 0 1 1 1 1 $4 (miner is now off) 7 0 0 1 1 1 $3 8 0 0 0 1 1 $2 9 0 0 0 0 1 $1 10 0 0 0 0 0 $0 --------------------------------------------------- Total Paid = $25 Hope this helps. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Edit: Paid out over 9 days actually because day 10 you don't earn anything, but I wanted to show the 10th day as fully ramped down day.

Yes, i mean 10. December
But I do not get it what is meant by this 5Nd Ramp???
Means it if I will run my Miner now until next Block found, I will get more Profit?
On Slushpool I got 0.00229078 BTC since yesterday for one S9
Maybe someone can draw a better visual example, but just imagine 5DN as a ramp: So day 1 you plug in your first miner to Kano's Pool and you have started your 5ND for that miner. You don't yet have much invested in the pool so if a block is found then, you get a tiny portion of it since you haven't worked on anything. As the 5ND ramps up, each block find gives you a larger and larger amount for a payment based on your time and work you have done, along with the size of the block (due to the fees it has collected). Then, at the top, once that miner has reached the top of the 5ND ramp, you will get your fully vested payments for that miner when a block is found. The same goes if you remove that miner. Even though it isn't contributing, it still has had the time it vested into the pool so you will get payments as it ramps down until it hits zero. But like I said, maybe someone can make a better one and explain it better, especially if I got it wrong. I tried to keep it basic

Anyone picking up S9's today? Can you get me one? I don't have access to my wallets currently. (USA only)

Wow, they have doubled their prices on their miners. They want 2725! Used to be $1236.

Previous ramp post of mine back when the ramp was 3 days: ... How it actually works, as opposed to how you see a 'ramp', is that your payouts are simply spread out over 5ND which is currently about 3 days. You get paid for each share you submit, over the 3 days after you submit the share. What this does is reduce the variance in your payouts. Something like this if you think of it as submitting a share (s) each block: s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+
If you consider the + to be the reward points when we find a block, the 5ND is simply the time it takes for the overlap of all '5' shares Of course you keep submitting shares, so the gap appearing at the bottom doesn't begin until you stop mining e.g.: s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+
The height/number of '+'s is the relative reward.

Wow, 16 day 5N. That's a whole difficulty period, and then some.
We _have_ to get more hashpower here!!

Thank you, Koelby, for the block! Nice work! So after all that agonizing by some of the new miners, that block was under 300% difficulty, our luck for Dec is still almost 93%, and our PAPPS is over 110% Moral of the story: Patience my new fellow miners, this is still and we always be the best and most profitable place to mine. mine on! Patience, Maturity, Understanding, Self Control, Common Sense and above all else, THE DATA tells the story. Why would I want to pay higher fees on less BTC, yet have the same fixed cost. Yes Congrats to Koelby for finding the Block. MINE ON with KANO-SAN!!!

Block! by koelby Welcome to the acclaim board 16.86 BTC Nice to see an overnight block! To all newbies here, there is an easier way to figure out what you will make on this pool. It is 100% correct every time and you don't have to run around in a panic like your hair is on fire. Record and observe. As each block arrives you will see exactly how it all works.

With the PSU's included, wonder if they will be sold for $2500?

Looking at purchasing 5 of these, it will max out my power availability but naerly double my TH/s contribution to the Pool. My BCH converted to BTC will easily cover the cost. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN.

So, that reward wasn't too shabby. I guess my first two were smaller, because I had only been mining for a few days. I will give it a month or two. Should be doubling my hash rate next week. Thanks for all of the posts, it's been very informational.

The prototype A8 I saw in September included a PSU as part of the miner I am wondering if you can shed light onto the S9 vs 821. Per the specs, the S9 comes out on top in terms of efficiency so I assume the first choice would be to go with the S9 that is currently available. I have read that people have been anti-bitmain but what are the exact reasons for this? What would be the benefits of getting say a 761 instead of an S9. Essentially, what would be the reasons why someone would forego an S9, which has better efficiency and power for a 761 / 741

The prototype A8 I saw in September included a PSU as part of the miner Thanks for the note, Kano. For the person questioning why go Avalon v. an S9...ask any of us whom have done extended (as in months) mining with both. I would venture to guess you would hear (1) reliability (the Avalons, in my experience, are significantly better designed & built), and (2) there are some of us whom have been around a long time who prefer to not support the Bitmain onslaught in any case.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

But a big factor would be price...even if the A8 includes the PSU. Bitmain has made their move, now it's Canaan's turn tomorrow.

I hope the A8 will be under $2000 - seems worth it at that price.
