Thanks for the comparison.  Feels like marketing to me, since 20 watts is well within their +/- specs.

Mined for a living since 2017.  Dabbled for years before that.

Defiantly agree with you ccgllc -  at those watts +/-  its very minimal $1-2 dollars year difference and for we all know there could just be errors on the spec pages or just #'s.

I don’t if this is a stupid question or not. But why’s the difference between the older S9 and the S9i they just released? Heard it’s possible as bitmain is moving out of China that they are selling their S9 as new and hence the s9i, any truth to this ?

versions with i are selling without any coupons

Not true, I just did a test and I could use any of the coupons in my list towards these i models...

You beat me to it.  I just tried the same and had no problems applying any of my (expire in June) Coupons to their purchase.

ok let's clear that one out. when you buy versions with i (with or without coupons) you don't get any more coupons.

You may get more coupons, you may not. Ive seen people order things with coupons before, and then get more coupons from bitmain. So anything is possible at this point I would say.

A lot of speculation on a new Antminer on the way so could be cleaning house... Talk of an S11 on the way for quite sometime now.

A few watt differences in more efficient as they use less wattage/miner than the S9s.

Antminer S9 14 TH/s = 1340 Watts

Antminer S9i 14 TH/s = 1320 Watts

Antminer S9 13.5 TH/s = 1320 Watts

Antminer S9i 13.5 TH/s = 1310 Watts

Antminer S9 13 TH/s = 1300 Watts

Antminer S9i 13 TH/s = 1290 Watts

Could be a way not to piss many people off who just paid a lot more a few weeks ago for the same miners - who knows.

There’s gotta be a good reason they’re considerably cheaper. Wouldn’t higher efficiency and power savings make them more expensive?

There is a reason: Firesale!!! Bitmain is practically being run out of China, by their restrictions and regulations. Rather than paying to relocate all of their miners, they mine with by the way, they'll sell them off. Also, I'm sure they are looking for funds for their next gen hardware. As for the appearance of more efficiency, it's simply marketing. The implied efficiency, is still within the specs of their original equipment. They just slapped an "i" on it.

I don't think Bitmain is hurting for money, but I could be wrong.  More people than not say they mine with the hardware and release it to the public once they kill the rate and make money off of them.  I wonder if they do mine on all the machines if there profit is based on the coins they mined or is the 3-4 billion in profit from straight sales?

This article from cointelegraph.com (maybe reliable, maybe not) says
"the four-year-old Bitmain reportedly made between $3 and $4 billion in operating profit in 2017, whereas Nvidia, founded 24 years ago, made about $3 billion during the same period. "

they were holding 30000 btc in dec 2016  1000 and in dec 2017 coins were 19950 plus add 30000 bch worth 2000

so 30000 x 1000 = 30,000,000 became 30,000 x 22,000 = 660,000,000  that is a 630,000,000 profit

of a traceable set of accounts they have.

The only thing they are hurting for is finding what NOT to buy with their money and how else to totally screw crypto enthusiasts by releasing ASIC's for every algo in existence.

Got some goooood news: Miner temps are now under control (25~35°C) with the help of a 6" semi-rigid aluminum duct--didn't feel like paying 2x for a fancy insulated one...

It's venting out a window with a nice Pink Panther foam board blocking the other side--fits right in with Hicktown atmosphere where my new house is. Grin

MINE ON & CRUSH THIS BLOCK!!!

I've seen that very instance from a friend of mine....he's heading this way as well as that other pool has been really really flakey.
