they even called me and if I look at the phone number: +7 952 815 ... then this number is in Russia Krasnodar Territory, the company tele2, when I told them that they are swindlers, and I will wait only for an official letter from the company bitmain ... Well, here's the letter came ... Grin

The problem goes back to the early days of the Internet when SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) was defined.  The "to:" and "from:" fields are actually data in a mail message, not handshake stuff.  I use to fry peoples minds that didn't believe me by sending them e-mails that appeared to be from "Your Mother" or "GOD".  Thus its absolutely trivial to fake where an e-mail comes from as displayed by most mail programs.

Look at the example at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_Mail_Transfer_Protocol  and notice both the protocol "RCPT TO:" and "MAIL FROM:" that most mail checkers validate against for blantant fraud.  Then go down a bit and look at the message body, the stuff after the "DATA" protocol command.  The stuff there is what most mail programs display and its just data, you could put anything you like in there, including "techsupport@bitmain.com" or whatever.

I would be curious if someone that received the e-mail would look at the headers (an option turned off in most mail programs but that can be turned on) and see what the sending "MAIL FROM:" was?

Mined for a living since 2017.  Dabbled for years before that.

Thanx. I can only check the stats page on my PC, as it usually crashes the browser on my tablet. I was curious.

Yeah the majority of canaan is burn in.
It's never very large coz they sell their miners, they don't keep their customer's miners to mine with them ...

Though a point to note about that ... there's another pool that says Halong is burning in 50+ 100+? PH of miners.
I gotta wonder why they are helping Halong scam their customers ...
Who has a datacentre that can burn in 6000+ plus miners for weeks ... burn in doesn't take that long ...

No one with any sizeable hash rate is leaving here and going to that pool that was designed to be a joke.
Some miners are so stupid they don't even realise it Smiley

Seriously I don't really care about enabling asicboost on this pool other than a few people have asked me too.
His pool code is fucked Smiley so I even have to fix that to enable it Tongue
I'd actually prefer not to, but it seems a lot of people bought the T1s (myrig also sent me 2) so for the sake of miners on the pool I'm working on it.

I totally appreciate the help Canaan provides, both here, and on a consumer level. Awesome Company. I'm looking forward to seeing
some new equipment from them. They certainly set a standard, with how a company should operate.

As far as, Halong and Company, I prefer my shenanigans in the form of Benny Hill. I find the whole thing repulsive(Halong) and shameful(duping consumers). Even though my abilities with Coding and Programming are novice, I completely understand that,
consumers should receive a product that is exactly what they paid for. They should NOT have to "tinker" with firmware codes, to
attempt to get their device to operate at advertised specifications. The only "tinkering" should be, IF, the consumer wants to over/underclock the device, etc. Really speaks volumes of Halongmining's Research and Development.

The "burn in" for their next-generation release could be longer than usual, if we take into account, that they might be doing all
that "tinkering" before they unleash the products on consumers. Either way, it leaves one to wondering, how did a new company
find a facility BIG enough for Testing??? Maybe they've had the facility for years, but the labeling has changed.  Wink

Many Thanx to YOU, for taking the time to troubleshoot the code for the users here. I'm sure that the end result will be helpful,
for the sake of hashrate, and the stability of the Pool. I can’t imagine that someone has invested a Farm's worth of this equipment,
but if they did, they'll be working 24/7 "tinkering" with firmware until October.  Cheesy

Their payout scheme design allows small miners to take BTC from large miners if the small miners are lucky.
It's a gamblers payout scheme.
So basically no one with a lot of hash rate but an idiot would mine there.

Bitcoin is business and livelihood for most miners now, gambling on that is pure stupidity.

The reward scheme here is simple, everyone gets proportionally rewarded based on the amount of work they do, in the last 5Nd, each time we find a block.

Just (another) warning for anyone who has an email address in the Bitmain database:

Again there's a scam email being sent to everyone in the Bitmain database about the S11

The subject will probably be something like "Limited Time Offer Antminer S11-1"

Remember, Bitmain's user database was stolen (yeah not unexpected from a company who shipped miners for years, after I warned them about what they'd done wrong, with enforced completely open API access to the world) and the data thief knows your name and email and probably other things about you.

BTC address they put in the email already received more than 2 bitcoins...

Paying to 1KYrmi62JXDtodLx1zcEFd6d6uChR8ZtyN
But the first 5 transaction inputs include the same address ... so they're trying to make people think it's real by sending their own BTC there.

The last 2 transactions (at the moment) are probably people conned into it.

Edit: and it seems the mods here don't think it's a scam - they removed the thread someone posted about it in the hardware section.
Seemed to me that that thread was a good idea to warn people about it - but alas it seems the mods like helping the scammers and deleted the warning.

This correlates to Bitmain's Twitter post, about the fake email and phone calls today. There are 2 people
claiming they sent Bitcoin, and asking what to do about it. Unfortunately, they will learn the hard way
about being overly eager, about things that haven't been officially announced.

Attention:
If it sounds like a "to good to be true" deal, it's probably a scam. Research before buying!

Correct me if I am wrong, but: isn't mining very similar to gambling? Your pool stats are strongly affected by the concept LUCK... I think LUCK is the strongest factor affecting the payout (Remember those hard to crack UNLUCKY blocks and all they your miners dancing and eating chicken... BTW, is that stupid?). If you agree  that mining is very similar to gambling then, Why you say that gambling is stupid and yourself is a miner who runs a mining pool forked from the repository of that guy who runs that other pool which you say it is a joke and where only idiot gamblers would mine?

I'm just very much amazed that you can tag people as stupid just because they mine in THAT pool with NO FEE which is reaching now 150+ PH.

I'd wish Minergain.com could add to his web service "that" pool to check if the people mining there are stupids as you claim.

Well there's 3 causes involved Tongue
1) Some people are more easily scammed than others
2) Bitmain lost everyone's Phone, Email, Name, Addrees +? to hackers - the hackers couldn't have done this scam without those details
3) Heh Smiley A mod deleted a warning about it today in the hardware section (my post I added to the thread, and the whole thread, disappeared without a warning)

Well ... did you even bother to read the link? (or my post)
It already says they are stupid Tongue

I'm not sure where I said mining on this pool is very similar to gambling.
Feel free to point it out ... or are you just trying to make some point of your post by peppering it with false statements?

In fact your whole post seems to be "I don't know - can someone tell me what I want them to say that's bad about this pool - that will be different to what the available information is"
Why not work it out yourself and present it Smiley

You clearly don't understand the statistics of mining or even looked at this pool's "Blocks" page.
Bitcoin is block based by design, so you probably should learn about Bitcoin also.
Providing a fair payout scheme that helps reduce the variance as much as possible is what this pool does.

If you want a casino - yep both of his pools are best suited to you.
Solo mining is even more of a gamble for anyone without 100PH or so.

Yes we've had bad luck and good luck - but pointing out only the bad luck really is you proving that you are completely biased in your reply.
The long term luck is fine - it's clearly there on the "Blocks" page for anyone who can't work out what should be happening.
Heh - why not continue your misunderstanding and point out that the luck on that pool so far since it started is ... about 84% ... ouch Cheesy

Pool size is also a factor in that - and unfortunately for all very small pools - if their size is too small, and they're not finding multiple blocks per difficulty change, that's bad for their miners.
Another thing 'that' pool hides is the fact that almost everyone mining there so far has lost big time due to difficulty rises.
When blocks cross multiple difficulty boundaries you lose half the total difficulty rise % if the pool luck is 100% ...

... and if you even understand how the payout works in SPLNS you'll realise it is gambling on the luck of your miner.

I'd suggest you actually look into how payouts work and how difficulty works.
Assuming any pool (mine included) gives you a good reward is foolishness - at least look at the information available ... or if there is none and you are happy to risk your mining ... then I guess that's your problem Smiley

However, the stats I provide are quite in your face on the "Blocks" page ...
