Unbelievable!
it really does boggle the mind, doesn't it? we all thought we understood this whole bitcoin thing ot one degree or another, but i've yet to see anyone not floored by this action. seriously, people are dumping dollars like they're worthless! unsustainable crazinessPerhaps not worthless now, but further down the track maybe. Could be a few gamblers getting in early too, since it's had a bit of press in that area recently I feel like keeping US dollars is a gamble at this point. I want to hedge all my usd funds, I just think bitcoins are one of the best alternatives. I don't like Euros, cad are linked to the usd (although Canada has a lot of oil, maybe the US needs to 'free' them?). I am not really into roubles, yuan, yen, or pounds. For me the only alternatives are: property, gold, silver, bitcoins, and skills. Companies seem to feel the same; the world economy isn't doing so hot and people are catching on.

this is old but a few new comments. this was clearly a positive setup for Bitcoin. we all know Stossel is a staunch Libertarian and has talked positively about Bitcoin in the past. from the get go you see Mangu (now officially a hotty in my book) smiling in anticipation of the script. Stossel launches into a fake alarm about the possibilities of Bitcoin while letting Mangu espouse the virtues of what Bitcoin makes possible and the principles behind which it stands. Stossel betrays himself several times. he struggles to recall the negatives that have been ascribed to Bitcoin by having to read from a list. he calls attempted regulation of online gambling "stupid". he alleges that "stupid reasons" are being given to restrict alternative currencies. he mocks Schumer by saying that he stands for "anything against good". finally, both he and Mangu agree that anything that restricts gov't power and regulation "is a good thing!". i enjoyed watching it again and it's a great positive interview in Bitcoin's favor.

Nothing about the distributed blockchain, nothing about the max number of coins, nothing about the easiness of use. Only money laundering, tax evasion, gambling, porn and drugs. That was a truly shitty interview, but I guess all publicity is good publicity.

Many of us in the rest of the world are thus perhaps more eagerly anticipating the success of Bitcoin than the Americans. To them it may just be a restriction against gov't power, but to the rest of the world it's also a potential tool to challenge the U.S financial hegemony in the long last. We have been forced to accept U.S dollars for so long, for we had no viable alternative.

I am none to fond of the way my government and banks treat the rest of the world, I hope that bitcoin opens new avenues for political dialogue and gives power to people everywhere. I don't like that my fellow citizens of Earth have to deal with the inflation and debt which the US creates. I believe it is in all of our best interests to have a trade unit which cannot be manipulated, taken, inflated, politicized, and more. The internet, by and large, has given people everywhere a tool to fight back against the powers that be. People will always be manipulated, but now the tables have turned. Everyone has the ability to make something 'viral' and trade information freely. Will bitcoin free us of our monetary chains too? We shall see.

Absolutely, I am looking forward to the day when I can settle international trades with bitcoins, whether it be Amazon purchases or exporting goods to the U.S, it helps me getting rid of my own government's exploitations as well.

Then hold a mix of euros, AUD, gold, silver and Bitcoins! You can actually get somewhat decent interest rates (~4%) with AUD.
