I received our S9 from warranty repair today...  When I turned it on the controller immediately caught fire!  I haven't seen that happen since I had BFL gear.  It is now all boxed up and will be headed back for another warranty repair in the morning.

I assume they do not offer any kind of compensation for the gross incompetence?  You would think that receiving a unit from the warranty team, it would have been tested prior to shipping out?

It was marked up like it had been through testing...  It might have been something that occurred during shipping.  I could probably pitch a fit with Bitmain and get a coupon, but I'm not sure how much benefit that would bring.  I've covered the shipping costs out of my own pocket, so the negative impact is somewhat limited.  Mostly I'm glad I still have my eyebrows.

As a Member of this Glorious loss making asset, It would be interesting to know how many miners you own yourself OG. Also are the above Items being used for personal gain? IE, do they run your own electricity at home? are you running your own miners with these items?

it does seem to me that this is more of a lifestyle business for you, as in it gives you a better lifestyle at the detriment of people who have purchased seats, either at IPO or along the way.

2) In no way are our green energy sponsorships a detriment to seat owners.
3) Our green energy production still requires me to subsidize our electrical usage out of my own pocket. I’m happy to do it, because I enjoy the friends I’ve made and I believe in our future.
4) We’re running more than 1 miner.

Many of us here chose to associate with OgNasty, NastyMining, and Nastyfans knowing full well that bitcoin was an experiment into uncharted territory.  We also knew that NastyMining was also an experiment on top of the bitcoin experiment and that risk was involved.  Having full knowledge of the risks with bitcoin and NastyMining, we chose to exercise the right of association and did so.  Others having the same information chose to exercise their right of disassociation.  (Simple and beautiful isn’t it!)

Your opinion and points have been made very clear.  Thank you for your warnings that risk is involved with investing in this experiment.  We understood this before you were here and we continue to understand it now.

If each of us, including OgNasty, could have predicted the future, different choices would have been made.  Greater profits would have been obtained and NastyMining could have made a greater influence on Bitcoin.  Yet, there have been profits and some influence on Bitcoin has been made.  But we can’t predict the future, and the present is what it is, and the future is still to be discovered…

I am glad that OgNasty and nonnakip are still running NastyMining and NastyFans. I have always had quick, detailed and open discussion to any question or comment I have sent them.   I choose to associate with them because I am still excited about this experiment and curious as to where this journey will go.  This has been going on before the GLBSE days and that says a lot about the seriousness and credibility of this operation.
Also remember, that the accumulation of bitcoin is only one aspect of this endeavor.  There are other reasons that people value and chose to associate with NastyMining.

It seems very obvious you choose not to associate yourself with NastyMining.  Rather than keep repeating yourself and trolling this thread, I would recommend exercising your rights of disassociation and distance yourself from something you think is worthless and spend time pursing those things of value to you.

I haven't received the peddle powered generator yet, but when I do I will see what sort of tracking features it has, otherwise I will consider purchasing an energy tracking device so my production can be monitored.  I've even toyed with the idea of doing a Man vs Machine type blog/thread to see if I can outproduce the wind turbine, but need to do some testing to see if I have a chance first.  I am committed to using the machine daily, but keep in mind that I'm currently spending several hours a day engraving coins to keep up with orders, and I'm just a man who only has so much energy to give.  That being said, I suspect the greatest benefit of the peddle powered generator would be if we were to lose grid-power, it would enable me to continue providing energy to help our backup batteries run the operation until power is restored.

I know where you live og... currently it is 69F @ 7am and will hit 95F later.. not that the heat matters, but It just shows how much sun is out there in the desert.... thats hotter than Lybia right now, and you dont hear about many DC's or mining ops in the fucking Desert..

I am not a troll - I am unearthing lies by you.. someone who is supposed to be one of the most trusted people on the forum...  if you answered how many miners you owned we could work out if your own electricity bill is sensible or not... I know it is not as I have run the math.. I looked at the plans for when they built your house, worked out how many A/C units you would need to run.. then ran the math on the solar and turbine... bottom line is you have a personal gain from all of the "green"..

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to lightfoot who helped me troubleshoot an issue with the R4 miner.  My internet went down the other night and when it came back online, the R4 miner wouldn't start mining or even recognize the ASIC chips.  I've been contacting hardware folks to see if any of them could help me troubleshoot, or would be willing to do the necessary repairs so the process would be more transparent than sending it back to Bitmain for a repair.  After getting all the information from me, lightfoot suggested that I try to heat the miner with a hair dryer in order to raise the temperature before starting it.  I tried this a couple times, and on the 3rd try, it worked!  The R4 came back from the dead.  Given the timing of this and the allegations surrounding the S9 warranty issues, I am extremely thankful I knew who to contact that would be of assistance.  This is not the first time lightfoot has come to the rescue of NastyMining with his expertise and it is members of the community like him that I am truly thankful for.  Thank you lightfoot!  You are a gift.

If anyone ever needs an expert to repair their hardware, I highly recommend him.

Bitmain sent a couple $50 coupons as compensation for the S9 warranty repair issues.  They don't expire until next June so I should be able to find a use for them.  I've also been informed that our S9 has been repaired and is being shipped back this week.
